valtrex while nursing

Well I've been on 1 mg per day since Oct because I'm so paranoid about an outbreak. The past 2 or 3 weeks I've felt occassional tingling on my upper lip and in the one spot that is right above my pubic bone. And the past 1 1/2 to 2 weeks I feel like my lymph node on pelvis occassionally flares up and I seem to feel a bit of pain that stays at the top of my thigh. I also feel like my breasts are also getting that flare up a little.

Just wondering if anyone out there has taken Valtrex daily while pregnant??? My Dr. told me at my 1st visit that it was ok to take...also mentioned some women chose to just take during outbreaks instead of daily while pregnant, but it was up to me....just wondering!!!!!!?????

I was just curious if anyone is or has tried to concieve while nursing. My DS is almost 6 months old and I have had AF twice since birth, but it is irregular (which is normal for me b/c AF was irregular prior to concieving baby number 1). I was just wondering if there are any tips besides the normal stuff for TTC - like any special considerations, is it harder/easier, etc. thanks!

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.

As long as you and baby are happy, and you have no medical issues preventing it,there is no reason to stop nursing even after baby comes. A few nursing support groups to help with tandem nursing I found are the La Leche League (LLL) and breastfeeding mom talk.

I just excepted that the results without any followup testing. I started taking daily Valtrex 500mg per day to avoid giving it to my girlfriend. I never had any symptoms or outbreaks. My girlfriend at the time got tested twice and both times came back inconclusive. I recently got recheck and my results came back negative (igG <0.92). I have read online that Valtrex can result in false negative test early in the infection process. My question.

Hi Ive been living with herpes for about six months now and I take valtrex daily. This is my first cold I have had while having genital herpes. I noticed a bit of tingling in my penis and frequent non painful urination. I was wondering if this was a possible small outbreak or anybody else has experiened this thank you?

However, unless you want to be BFing 2 babies at once, I would try to make sure your baby is weaned before the next one is born. Some people do tandem nursing, but not my thing. Nursing one is enough work already...especially a newborn. Good luck!!

They are similar medications, but something in the Valtrex seems to affect people different than the acyclovir. The Valtrex doesn't seem to be working anyway. Was your partner tested by PCR swab and it came back positive for type 1? If that's the case, then yes, it seems like she got hsv1 genitally via oral sex. Small bumps and redness doesn't sound like herpes. That could be anything from irritation to an allergic reaction to something, eczema, dermatitis, etc., etc.

I'm curious to know if anyone has transmitted HSV2 while on Valtrex daily? I'd also like to hear from people who have stayed on Valtrex daily and their partner has remained infection free.

Hey all! I'm still nursing my 15 month old about 4-5 times a day, I am about 5 weeks pregnant and I feel extremely drained/fatigued! I never felt this tired with my first. Anyone have any advice or know of a good way to boost energy safely? I'm drinking lots of water and trying to eat a good balanced diet and going strong on the protein. But still want to sleep all day. Any advice??

It only came out if I squeezed. So anyway, this time around I was nursing when I got pregnant and my son just stopped about 9 weeks ago and my milk dried up within 3 days. I then noticed that just a little bit of what I thought was colostrum was just coming out and only if I would squeeze it. Anyway....I noticed today that nothing is coming out anymore. Is that normal? Will I just start producing milk once the baby is born or will the colostrum come back later in pregnancy?

My RE will reluctantly start me on a medication protocol most likely this week but has asked that I refrain from nursing 2 days post implantation as nursing may cause uterine contractions. There are studies that suggest that nursing does not negatively affect outcomes. Anyone have any info?

I know you have to take special BC without a certain hormone cause your body is producing it while you nurse but is the pill the only option when your nursing? or are there other methods for while nursing?

So my doc did to take the Evening Primrose Oil to try and help soften things up. But the smallest bottle had like 90 pills in them. I doubt I'll use all of them and have heard that it's a good supplement to take all the time including while nursing... But I've also heard it can dry you up... sigh does anyone know?? I'll of course be asking my doc as well but would like to hear if anyone has any personal experience with it?

I do not use any form of birth control and I know it could be possible. Has any one else gotten pregnant while nursing and how did you know. I have gone up to cup sizes in about the last 3 to 4 weeks, I am extremely tired, my breast hurt and nipples are tender when my daughter nurses. I had one time spotting about a week ago and took a test the day after the spotting and it was neg. I was told it could have been implantation spotting so it would have been to early anyway.

Instead I found an empty bottle of Valtrex, prescribed to her. Needless to say, there was no way in hell I was going to use any toothbrush in there. So I asked her about it (via instant message - is that bad?). She said she gets cold sores sometimes, and the Valtrex gets rid of them quickly.

I am about to go onto Valtrex suppressive treatment 500mg daily. I am visiting Laos/Thailand in Jan 2011 and I have been advised to take anti-malaria tablets while there called Doxycycline. Does anyone know if there is any interaction between these two drugs? Can it make one or the other not work as effectively? Thanks.

My mom worked at a nursing home while pregnant with my brother and she had to quit so she wouldnt miscarry it is very hard wrk she had to lift people and all. If u are going to be a nurse then it may be ok but if not u may want to be truthful cause if your not and u can't do the work u will have to tell them and if it is in trial period u could be fired for not being honest to begin with about being able to do it.

I'm curious about conceiving while still nursing. We have an almost 12 month old, and have been trying for the past three months to get pregnant again. I have had regular cycles for me (about every 35 days) since November and am curious how long it took other moms the second time. I'm concerned that I may be having cycles without ovulation, and we really want another baby soon.
