Avatar f tn m on this Lysine kick which I bought on-line that had a couple of other herbs plus B-complex and Vitamin C in it. I also take Vitamin E, green tea pills and am eating lots of vegatables. I think once I return on Monday I'll try and get down to the 500mg per day. I'm not sure if I have a razor burn or if a couple of little bumps could be the start of an outbreak. They are not itchy and do not hurt.

Avatar n tn The derm I just went to prescribed me benzol peroxide which i just started washing my mouth chin area with daily and ive read about lysine adn vitamin c which I will buy today b/c I cant deal with these ugly things anymore! Anything else I can do!?!? Any suggestions? Ive pretty much, despite what the docs say, ruled out acne. But the only thing that keeps me hoping a little that its just acne is b/c these things are scarring around my mouth. Herpes supposedly does not scar.

Avatar f tn thanks for your comments.... my doctors are the ones recommending the valtrex, including the increased amount, but it definitely makes me nervous. I definitely plan to go with the c-section if they don't have any more answers for me with my next appointment. This is my 2nd child, and I didn't have any of these problems the 1st time, but they still had me take Valtrex the last month of pregnancy due to my history.

Avatar m tn I've been taking lysine & vitamin c pills every day. I am also avoiding arginine foods, the sun, stress... I basically lock myself in my house for the past 2 months. I've tried manuka honey (did nothing), abreva works sometimes, and I've been using lemon balm salve to moisturize my lips (works well). Carmex chapstick spread my cold sores so I stopped using Carmex and switched to lemon balm.
Avatar f tn I am severely anemic and Vitamin D deficient and take medications for that. Are there ever instances where Valtrex doesn't work or could my other issues have something to do with my outbreaks?
Avatar n tn Ok I was prescribed valtrex from my doctor. on the prescription it said I supposed to take it every 24 hours for 10 days but there's 30 pills n the bottle. Yesterday was the 10th day but I still have the break outs, this is rlly driving me crazy!
Avatar f tn I did decide to give the L-lysine, vitamin C and zinc a try. It's been 2 days and what a difference. She's able to walk, go to work and not in as much pain. She even has a date night with her boyfriend tonight. Not sure if It's the down side of the outbreak or it actually helped her. She still has her moments and breaks down in tears.
Avatar f tn I also take L-Lysine (1000 mg), Zinc (500 mg), Vit C (1000 mg), Mutli Vitamin, Vit E (400 mg), and Echinacea with goldenseal. My question is can i EVER have and give oral sex again? My understading so far is that you still can as long as you have no symptoms or signs of an outbreak and that i keep taking my meds and vitamins regularly, that the chances are really small. Is this true?
