your hsv2 is a low positive. it'll need confirmed with further testing. either a lesion culture that is hsv2+ or get a herpes WB blood test. If your provider uses quest labs, it's test #34534 for the herpes WB. I already knew that I had HSV-1, have had it for years. My number for HSV-1 was over 5. I was tested in May 09 using the HerpesSelect test and the results came back positive HSV-2 with an IgG 1.67. While browsing this forum, I read that a number that low might indicate a false positive, so I had myself retested yesterday September 9. My results using the HerpesSelect were 1.32 IgG for HSV-2. We have info on the safety of valtrex for about 15 years now used continuously and info on acyclovir for 25 years of use continuously and neither have any long term issues ( valtrex is an acyclovir prodrug ). I really recommend she switch to suppressive therapy to give you better peace of mind. You should be enjoying sex with your wife, not fearing it.

most adults have hsv1 whether they get obvious cold sores or not. Most folks who have hsv1 orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know it. since she's never had symptoms, she should confirm her hsv2 igg. A herpes WB or a herpes biokit are the best 2 tests to confirm her status with.

Question: Does this sound like herpes even though I don't outward get cold sores? Why do I always get conjunctivitis? Is the conjunctivitis viral or bacterial? After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?

2 (never a outbreak vaginally) only cold sores and the test I had was a blood test. I sure just want to take Valtrex for a while and see if my UC improves, I've only taken it for maybe 4 or 5 days. How much and how long can I take it? Is it really toxic to the liver? I worry about that too. Can you help me please. Anyone have herpes of the rectum and can it go up further?

5 (some were even telling me 3.0) turn out to be false positives. one problem is that no one uses conformation testing if there are no present symptoms (if no lesions present to do culture or pcr)-maybe that is y its spreading so fast (w no symptoms) and its not a routune std check up unless requested.

Today I did a blood test for hsv 1 and hsv2 before a doctor diagnosed the blısters as herpes but doctor examined me has given me zostex until the results come out. zostex is used for herpes zoster and as far as I know not related with genital herpes, he said it was also an untiviral for hsv ? is that true? should I use it till the results come out?

Hello, i had a hsv 1 genital outbreak about a month ago, i have had this for six years and only one outbreak since the first time, my question is, do i really need to stay on the valtrex for surpresive therapy, or would it be smarter to stay on it to avoid giving it to someone else

I have been on valtrex for the past 4 months (1 a day) if the symptoms I am having have not gone away for a period of 2 years ( symptoms are there for a week then subside for 2 - 3 days then come back ) this has been like clockwork for the past 2 years.

Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks. How long can this crazy virus last? Does it subside or run it's course within 6 months? I thought I read this somewhere. Sorry for the multiple questions- this is just so frustrating...
