I have been on valtrex for the past 4 months (1 a day) if the symptoms I am having have not gone away for a period of 2 years ( symptoms are there for a week then subside for 2 - 3 days then come back ) this has been like clockwork for the past 2 years.
Hi Ive been living with herpes for about six months now and I take valtrex daily. This is my first cold I have had while having genital herpes. I noticed a bit of tingling in my penis and frequent non painful urination. I was wondering if this was a possible small outbreak or anybody else has experiened this thank you?
Three days ago I had an unusual white discharge from my penis while urinating, with a white powder silt coming to rest on the bottom of the toilet toward the end of the stream. As I finished urinating, a cloudy sperm-looking cloud of white discharge came out. This appeared with no pain or discomfort. I only noticed it because I looked directly into the toilet bowl.
I have symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis, but not frequent urination. All this came on after the Cipro/Valtrex Cortisol treatment so that is why I think it could be tied to candida.
Question: If my penis symptoms are so different from the classic yeast-related problems, (genital thrush etc) what could this chronic pain (and white coloration and sticky pores of the penis head after ejaculation) be from?
I already know I have Herpes 2, but am not back in the US so I can get on medication. I have frequent nighttime urination which is caused by the Herpes 2 ( i had done a bacteria urine test and it was negative) . I just wondered, when I get on Valtrex will it take care of the frequent urination at night or do I need to get other medication for that? Anyone out there ever experience it.
I think a lot of persons come here for support, not just because they are worried they might be infected.
One month later I had several episodes of mild burning and pain on urination, and developed low grade fever (99.5~100.5F) everyday mostly in the afternoon, associated with fatigue and night sweating. My PCP ordered a series of test, including blood and urine culture, STD panel (syphilis, GC, chlamydia, HIV, but not herpes), all came back negative. He prescribed antibiotics (Levaquin and doxycycline) for around 2 weeks, which did not help. In the end of Feb, I got herpes test: HSV1 IgG (+)>5.
but at the base on my shaft i got a sore which it was painful, then extremely painfull urination n secreting fluids. now my first ques is why if i wore a condom. Why would i b secreting fluids that caused severe burning that happened twice which was 4 weeks ago??
I went to my urologist n just in case he gave me alyclovir cream n valtrex. which my sore healed 2 weeks ago. i thought my ob was over and i looked where my sore was which is pink n trying to heal back to normal, there was a tiny cut.
I saw my doctor and he seems to believe its herpes. He gave me a prescription for valtrex and took cultures. I am still waiting for the results. Does this sound like herpes? The valtrex has helped some but I have also been using elidel and anti bacterial ointment at the same time. I have also had moderate psoriasis for the past 9 years. I have never had sores on my face or groin area either. Your insight would be greatly appreciated

3 weeks ago I started feeling really ill, I got a very sore throat with swollen glands in my throat, headaches, etc.. a week later i got a cold sore. I was prescribed a two day dosage of valtrex and it went away, but my sore throat never did, this past week i have been freaking out about genital hsv1 because my lymph nodes in my groin were tender, i had pain/ numbness in my left leg from my butt to my knee, but so far no blister, no painful urination, no tingling in vaginal area.....
Ok, I've been on Valtrex since Friday and my symptoms have not subsided or even alleviated in the smallest amount :( I am not having common symptoms i.e. lesion breakout..It's more general discomfort, slight difficulty urinating, frequent urination and feeling like I'm not quite emptying, irritation, needles & pins or icy hot sensations in my buttocks and back of calves, ..sometimes even in my feet and over all weakness.
Do I have herpes?
I cleaned up my region with clippers on Saturday afternoon. May have accidentally scratched my groin area with guard.
Saturday night I received oral with condom from a massage parlor. Naked girl rubbed herself on my leg.
Sunday morning I have what appears to be a small red rash in groin fold.
Monday I appear to have a very small bump in the small red rash in groin area. Experiencing an achy knee and extreme anxiety.
Tuesday I see doctor and he says "low risk".
having stinging pain upon urination.( worse in the morning time than in the afternoon and night. warm shower helps).had urine cultures x 3 which has been negative. seen gyn-no inflammation seen around the vaginal area. std test negative. last year had the same symptoms but had a UTI. took cipro which killed the bacteria however, the burning/stinging pain upon urination was still present.
This continued for a week until it get a bit warm in thee groin area when I see a doctor. As a precaution, he prescribed Valtrex 500mg x 3 for 7 days. Since then, the tingling has stopped. There were never any lesions observed.
On the 22nd day. I have greenish white and black particles discharge from the penis with some blood and and a burning urination. In my panic, i drank lots of water that evening resulting in a frequent urination.
a week later i get a small pin size red mark slighty raised, no pain , no discharge, no itching, no burning during urination. goes away few days later, another 2 come back. this been going on for almost 3 weeks. i see urologist yesterday, he tells me to take valtrex for 10 days and lotrimin 2x a day for 5 days. i feel he just diagnosed me with herpes OB cause of my history. any advice? he aslo said to cut argenine intake and increase lysine is that true?
I had peripheral neuropathy, electric sensations coming off my spine, my eyes were sensitive to light and would often tear up and burn, I had CNS issues impacting my balance, frequent urination, and body temperature regulation. Night sweats behind the neck as well. This all lasted several months after initial HSV2 infection above and below the waist. All confirmed by top doctors. Solution? Time and a big bottle of Valtrex.
I nave never had ANY symptoms in the vaginal area - no burning on urination, etc. even when my initial breakout was severe throughout my body and my anus. Since I have never had symptoms or breakouts in my vagina, only my anus, can I still transmit the virus to my partner during regular sex? I have also been taking Valtrex once a day for many years, and have only about 2-4 tingling sensations and random nerve pain a year. I never get blisters anymore due to the meds. I postponed the trip to visit my guy friend (who is aware I have HSV) for 2 1/2 weeks and started taking Valtrex 500mg 2x per day on Saturday, less than 12 hours after 1st inkling something may not be right...had a bit of a flare up of IBS last week and typically go to the bathroom many times per day/my "normal"...Prep H did not help though, and don't have pain upon urination or defecation...
I think with all the research I have done in the last couple of weeks I probably know more about HSV, HSV Testing, and Valtrex than my healthcare provider does. Such a shame considering a vast amount of people are walking time bombs with this disease passing it around to innocent victims.

For a year and a half now I have been experiencing sporadic symptoms of a UTI.
I had protected vaginal sex and also performed oral sex and has tested negative for herpes. The next day I noticed burning and stinging with urination and swelling of the labia and a few days after that I developed little blisters that are extremely painful. I was unaware that I had ever been exposed to HSV in the past. So is it possible I’ve had the infection for a long time and just never had any outbreaks?

The reason for getting tested was I was having a burning sensation on my penis after urination (not during) and went to a doctor. The doctor (female) took a look at my penis and said I had cold sores although I could not see any myself.
I asked her about an inflammation I had on the tip of my penis and she said that it is just an inflammation and would go away. However, she wasn't sure and prescribed me a UTI antbiotic and Valtrex.
He thinks could be something other than herpes but he is not sure. I am still taking valtrex and antibiotic. It hurts less to urinate but pain is still there. If I drink tons of water it does not sting at all or just a little. The sudden onset of the painful urinating and swollen penile opening makes me suspect herpes every though test was negative. So gonorrea, chlymidia syphilis and herpes test all negative. Any thoughts on all this would be appreciated.
