Valtrex recall

Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex recall

valtrex

Avatar f tn Patent comes off dec 2009 if I recall. As far as cost - if you have insurance once it's generic it usually goes on the cheaper generic copay list if you have that sort of insurance. so for instance if with your insurance you pay $30 for non-generic drugs on the approved list and $10 for generics on the approved list - you'd be paying $20 less/month for your valtrex. Typically it's 30% reduction in price when it goes generic initially for paying out of pocket. drugstore.
Avatar m tn Anyone suspect why my doc (dermatologist) would be giving me acyclovir, when I mentioned several times that I used to take Valtrex and never had an outbreak with that. (I do recall her saying before it's cheaper than valtrex) Thanks!!
Avatar f tn Yes grace. I took a single 10 day course of Valtrex when I found out about my exposure to hsv2. I am worried that that somhow delayed my antibody response. I tested negative at 14 weeks. Trying to determine if I need more testing.
Avatar m tn Does the value of the initial test matter? I was prescribed valtrex, should I take it? Or will it effect the results of a confirm test?
Avatar f tn t even think of going to the bathroom. I started Valtrex and then ended up getting it cultured again 3 or 4 days later. The culture came back negative again. There was a lot of the infected area that was swabbed for the culture, so what are the chances that this is another false negative?
Avatar f tn Can the surgery cause a flare up? I take Valtrex 1 gm daily for suppression. Could this affect the anesthesia? Do I have to tell the surgeon?
Avatar f tn if I may just have vaginal irritation from the constant moisture and contact with blood? Valtrex is category B and since.I have it on hand should I increase my dosing to head this off, I work for a doctor and we usually prescribe 5qd for 5/days..... any advice?
Avatar n tn ve only had one outbreak, as far as I know, and the only symptom that I can recall was an incredibly bad pain in my lower back, which my doctor seemed to think did not suggest herpes. He seemed surprised that the cervical lesion he found was indeed caused by HSV. I went on Valtrex and just stayed on it for a couple of years but finally quit because it was so expensive and I was so rarely sexually active. I used to get cold sores as a child, so I guess I have HSV1 as well.
Avatar n tn I have had HSV for the last 23 years. Even though we were did not have sex during an OB, and I am on Valtrex daily, it did happen. So I hope that this brings attention to the fact that it is still transmittable. My partner was aware of the risk involved and chose not to use condoms. My question is related to this supposedly initial OB. There are several small red "dots" on the tip of his penis. This is the third day and they do not seem to be getting worse.
Avatar m tn OK, back in College I did the responsible thing and took a Herpes test. The test I took at the school came back positive, a year later I took the test again at my local doctor and got another positive result. I don't recall which test it was, but I believe the HerpesSelect test is the most common one, so I would assume that was the test I was given. After the 2nd test I began taking Valtrex.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to take more than one pill/treatment type for Herpes. I'm taking Valtrex 1 gm per day and also have started taking a pill from Herpaflor that contains Lysine, Purella Vulgaris, licorice root and vitamins A,C and zinc. I'm doing a lot of research on the internet trying to learn what other herbs I can use to help prevent an outbreak. Is there something topical I can put on my upper lip and other areas that will prevent an outbreak from recurring there?
Avatar m tn You as I recall test positive for HSV1 and have had cold sores for much of your life. The test worked here. Negative for HSV2 means you were not infected up to 16 weeks ago but you need to assess the situation of sexual history and symptoms in that window period, regardless of what any previous symptoms were. Be sure to follow up with your doctor with any concerns.
Avatar f tn I’ve had herpes for 17 years and take Valtrex daily for suppressive therapy. I had protected heterosexual vaginal sex on Sunday afternoon. I noticed some slight tenderness in my genital area on Tuesday and today when wiping myself, it was uncomfortable. I tried to determine if the discomfort was an outbreak, ingrown hair (had a Brazilian wax a few weeks ago), pimple, etc and I can’t really tell.
Avatar m tn I tested negative for HSV-1 and positive for HSV-2. I have been taking Valtrex daily since the test results came back and that sore has subsided. It has been about six weeks since the results of the test. Currently I experience tingling, burning, and itching around my lips. That said, I am pretty sure I have HSV-2 but Oral and not genital (I have had no signs or symptoms "down there").
Avatar f tn A little more than a week ago, I noticed a slight tingle on the right side of my genital area. I began taking Valtrex. An outbreak never did occur, but I began researching and officially psyched myself out. Although an outbreak never occurred, I have felt a dull ache in my groin area between my pelvic bones and the top portion of my leg. Lymph nodes do not appear swollen. The ache continues under my right buttocks and down my inner thigh.
Avatar f tn You never ever have to treat your herpes - it only helps to speed healing when you treat it. I encourage you to go and be seen again and get examined again. You should also be tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. Both can be going on too and helping to prolong healing. Your lesion culture was hsv1+ so you know you have hsv1 genitally. Had you received oral sex anytime within the last 3 weeks of your symptoms starting?
Avatar m tn I recently had an IgG Type Specific antibody test done on 12/3/2010. My HSV1 came back with a reading of 5.57. On 1/20/2011, I had additional testing and my HSV1 reading came back with a 6.01 reading. The testing was prompted after I experienced pain/swelling on the inside tip (rim, right side) of my urethra for several weeks. After various STD testing, the doctor put me on "Valtrex" and I had negative results, symptoms still persisted.
Avatar f tn It seems like I have a lot of prescriptions. Lexapro, Valtrex, Prilosec, daily; Spirolact, (diurectic); Topral XL; I just ran out of my prescription for Campral, (to re-fill or not?); some kind of antihistemine..can't recall the name, a topical ointment for Rosecea....just got prescribed ZOCOR for cholesterol (haven't picked up yet...). The thing is, I'd like to have beer or wine, if I could... Oh I don't know. I have a hx of depression and alcoholism, too.
Avatar m tn none of those symptoms are hsv1 related at all. most adults will test + for hsv1. if you can't recall cold sores or genital lesions, odds are it is an oral hsv1 infection. it appears you have had cold sores in the past so you know your hsv1 is oral for sure.
Avatar n tn Why was c-phen dm infant drops recalled?
Avatar m tn Valtrex (500mg, once daily), Vitamin-C (620mg with bioflavonoids), L-Lysine (1000mg), and Zinc (50mg). The only noticeable outbreak has been along my upper-inner left thigh, slightly upon the scrotum. 1.) To what effect will these supplements would aid in inhibiting herpes: unnoticeable to extreme? 2.) Since I have genital HSV-1 is that the area of highest transfer risk?
