valtrex

Avatar f tn My 29 year old daughter had a severe and frightening reaction to Valtrex. She had cold sores and began taking 500 mg Valtrex, per script. She took one in the am and one in the pm for five days, and as adverse effects appeared, she cut back to one in the pm for four more days. She progressively became psychotic, experiencing altered states of consciousness, panic attacks, uncontrollable crying, tremors, and extreme fear. Blurred vision and the inability to focus were also taking place.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been taking a 25mg of trazadone to help with sleep but I wanna try natural remedies like valarian root or magnesium. Can I take both natural remedies?
Avatar n tn I am allergic to antiviral drugs like valacyclovir (gives me a horrible rash), so I was forced to research natural / homeopathic alternatives. I found a ton of research on PubMed / NCBI on a medium chain fatty acid called Monolaurin which comes from coconut. The research suggests that monolaurin can kill HSV in-vitro so I begin a therapeutic dose of Natural Cure Labs brand monolaurin around 6 months ago and have not had a breakout since.
Avatar f tn Don't get me wrong I'm not routing for a natural birth but as I already have back problems I was wondering if there are any pain relief options besides the needle in spine...
Avatar n tn I dont get headaches from the valtrex. I get lack of appetite though! You can take l-lysine! Its sorta the same thing as valtrex but with out all the side effects. Some say it works some say it dont work.
Avatar f tn My primary outbreak occurred in November. Almost immediately I started taking daily Valtrex. Once I felt my symptoms diminish, I stopped taking the pills, as I felt it was unnecessary to keep pumping my body with the chemicals. Just a few days later, I had a second outbreak. I realized that the Valtrex was truly only a suppressant, and decided I needed to seek out other options. I've come across many treatments.. And it's hard to know what to trust and invest in.

Avatar n tn I don't think anyone here will defend the use of "natural" alternatives. there is no proof that they kill the virus or cure the damage.
Avatar f tn m lactose so I had to research alternatives
Avatar f tn I go natural and use focus points and breathibg and counter pressure along with water to control my back labors
Avatar n tn s not a bad idea for you to at least try the many different natural treatments before subjecting yourself to medication, although I must be honest that in many cases that are more severe, the natural suppliments are not enough to effect any positive change in the anxiety or depression. I have tried just about every natural treatment for depression and anxiety on the market today.
Avatar m tn Same wrong answer. There are long term effects well documented on most pharamceuticals with the exception of the newer ones. We have government agencies for this with pharmaceuticals, noboody's watching the so called "natural" or "herbal", plus most pharamceuticals are made from what you push as "natural," and this is why you don't mix the two.
Avatar f tn I rarely get sick and have a pretty strong immune system. I was given the generic Valtrex for 5 days 3 wks after 1st OB after it was about 90% healed. I didn't know at the time I was having an OB so I used raw aloe vera which seemed to help the healing. Can anyone give actual experience of using natural treatments?
Avatar n tn Do you take any supplements or natural products to help with your anxiety? If so, what do you use? How effective is it? What exactly do you suffer from mostly (anxiety, ocd, panic, phobias)? And, is there anything you do not like about it? If you guys could answer those few questions for me that would really help me out, thanks!
Avatar f tn Almost a week later, I still feel a mild sensitivity in the area but there were never lesions or other visible symptoms. I am due for an induction in four days. My OB is encouraging a natural birth due to the lack of lesions but I am scared. She says asymptomatic shedding is minimal with Valtrex but my argument is that I had some symptoms. The onset of prodome symptoms was almost seven days ago. I am now taking Valtrex at 1000mg a day. Shouldn't the sensitivity be gone by now?
757137 tn?1347196453 s supported by over 200 scientific researches and they all go in favor of Pycnogenol and trust be, in the scientific community they are very skeptic about natural products so this is like the holy grail of natural products.
Avatar f tn I have tingling in my fingers after taking a Valtrex (500 mg). I also experience tingling in the genital area where my ob happened. I noticed that someone else mentioned this. I had vaginal rejuvenation over a year ago and that took a long time for the numbness to go away. My nerves seems to be sensitive. My first OB with HSV-2 was in August. Can you help. Been afraid of going off Valtrex, been researching alternative supplements, vitamins such as Garlic, Vit. C, good multi-vitamin, Vit.
458072 tn?1291415186 Within two weeks the hot flashes were back, and seemed worse than ever. I started looking into natural alternatives, and like you, was turned off at the prospect of having to wait three months, hoping for improvement. A poster in another forum suggested that I try Wisdom Menopause Formula. She said that it worked fast, so I ordered a bottle from Amazon. I’ve been taking it for about three weeks now, and so far it seems to be working wonders.
Avatar f tn Please have hope that there are natural alternatives! Btw, the herbalist did not advise me against acyclovir, but as a reminder to you, I haven't contained the virus yet.
Avatar f tn You do not need to take the valtrex daily. I cannot take it daily because it causes kidney issues, but my doc suggested the following. I take one when I first feel the tingle, before you see anything, and another every 12 hours for 2 days, or till its gone. As long as I start the med before it erupts I can stop them Since I began doing that I have not had any come up, and the frequency of me taking the med has decreased signifigantly.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had any luck controlling herpes and nerve pain associated with this dreaded virus? Currently on Valtrex, as well as co-enzymatic Vitamin B. Has anyone tried a regimen of Olive leaf extract, red marine algae, natural herbs and their benefits etc. with any positive results? Hoping that if I can get the virus to go dormant then the nerve pain will subside at some point. Please!
