I just completed nystatin for thrush and 4 weeks of valtrex. I have had no relief from the symptoms. I am also on doxycyline and havee lupus. Has anypne else experience these symptoms?

Hi. I just would like to know if herpes is the only infection that can occur in the exact same area/spot over and over. I ask because I have what I think is herpes genitally (7+ years) and now orally (cheek and temple)but keep testing negative (igg testing, including Western Blot, pcr and swab cultures). Acyclovir and Valtrex really don't help much. My symptoms are almost constant (pustules, itching and redness of oral areas and constant genital itching).

How good does valtrex work in suppressing HSV 1 I started taking 1000 mg a day?

So now that i found out that i have hsv-1 do i need to take valtrex everyday for the rest of my life if i dont want to get my partner infected?

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.

I have not had any outbreaks at all, I occasionally have burning and itching, but beyond that nothing else. I have been on supressive therapy w/ Valtrex since the end of may. I have had pain on lower right abdomen, under my ribcage it feels, and pain on my right lower back. Is this a symptom of Herpes, or can this be a reaction to the Valtrex?

I have been on valtrex for the past 4 months (1 a day) if the symptoms I am having have not gone away for a period of 2 years ( symptoms are there for a week then subside for 2 - 3 days then come back ) this has been like clockwork for the past 2 years.

my partner who i met has been on Valtrex for a couple of years and the pass year we had unprotected sex. I went and got tested and my blood work came back negative. She is ok with the results and angry that she allowed me to convince her and not using condoms. I just can't explained why we did it without condoms only that I love her and we are getting marry.

How would the Valtrex slow down antibody production? Would it suppress the virus to the nerve ganglia before the body can start to develop an immunity response.

If he's positive for HSV 2, I'll discontinue the med. If he's negative I will keep taking it. Can taking Herpes medication, such as Valtrex, create a later false positive test for the STD?

She put me on valtrex it seems like the valtrex shortened the outbreaks but i have tingling every day and i dont know why. and I still have outbreaks, so why is this?

OK. So its been nearly 2 months since I've been diagnosed with this inconvenience. Since I never had a "noticeable outbreak", every little itch or tingling that I get spooks me (The reason why I say that is because the time I had sex with my ex, I did have some tingling and 5 days later he had small blisters on his penis, so I know he contracted it from me).

Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks. How long can this crazy virus last? Does it subside or run it's course within 6 months? I thought I read this somewhere. Sorry for the multiple questions- this is just so frustrating... A few months later I started having left groin pain and then left armpit pain that lasted for 1 week the first time and a month later 2 weeks long. The third time was 4 months later and the pain has never left. Although I might get a few days of reprieve it is really never gone.

Valtrex is an acyclovir prodrug. Greatly simplified - you swallow valtrex and your body converts it into acyclovir inside the body. You get more active acyclovir available to kick a little herpes butt by doing it this way. That's why you take valtrex less often. Dear Doctors., Could a newly aquired hsv 2 infection be a possible ''trigger'' for autoimmune conditions such as lupus, Sjögren's, rheumatoid arthirits etc? Have there been any links to hsv bring on these things? Any thoughts on what role suppression (Valtrex, etc ) would play in the delay of those conditions? I realize its not an easy question but would appreciate your thoughts.

I have taking both Valtrex & Acyclovir in the past and for me, Valtrex seems to work a lot better for clearing up an ob quicker. Since moving back to the U.S. from Europe, I cannot believe how expensive Valtrex is here in the U.S.! I just want to get confirmation that there is a Generic Valtrex that is NOT Acyclovir - it that correct? My online pharmacy is offering me Valcyclovir which is a lot cheaper than Valtrex but I just want to make sure it isn't Acyclovir before I purchase it.

d try acyclovir suppressively instead of the valtrex and see if that works better for you. Even though valtrex is an acyclovir prodrug, some folks just do better on the acyclovir than they do the valtrex. My guess would be because you get less active acyclovir in your body with plain ole acyclovir than you do valtrex but we have no studies to back this assumption.

I am in a relationship with a man who does not have it. I have been on valtrex since May. In Septembere I noticed more hair than usual in the tub. I didnt think anything of it.
