Pretty interesting that this shortage happens just as Valtrex is going off of patent. Maybe they are gearing up to move everyone to generic Valtrex which I am sure will have a greater profit margin than acyclovir. I would hate to think that the drug companies are going to try to force people into a more expensive option but it wouldn't surprise me.
I know there are people here that are more "plugged in" to this industry/topic than I am. Do you have any thoughts?
I have Kaiser insurance and was wondering howmuch the copay was for labor for those who have kaiser as well.

I was going to suggest UC Davis MS Center until you mentioned you have Kaiser. I really feel for you. I had my last child at Kaiser in Sacramento and that was a sad, very sad experience. I can understand why you aren't thrilled with your neuro.
Have you thought of asking one of the nurses in neurology at Kaiser about a good neuro? I find that nurses referrals are the best you can ever get. They know who is worthwhile and who to stay away from.
Please help!! I hold oral sex with a transexual I used a condom during the oral sex then switched to anal I used lub but didn't change condoms. Anal went on for about 2min or so then i stopped I realized it wasn't my cup thing. The condom look like it didn't break I saw blood on the condom so rushed and took the condom off. I washed up with anti bactiura soap and water and dryed off. 2 days later I felt itching and burning sensation around genitals and it burned when I peed.

I talked to a obgyn at kaiser and she said a blood test for herpes wasnt really ideal in my situation (i think i recall her saying that because it woulnt tell me where I have it)... but I dont unerstand? ... my biggest problem is that since I never felt or saw what they were saying was herpes and was never given a result so I dont know how they feel there for I cant tell if i am having an outbreak...
The girlfriend also gave me Valtrex from Kaiser but a lot of people (including teachers) said it might be all a lie to scare me away from her boyfriend. I dont know what to believe since it had the sticker with her name on it.
I am only 17 and have not shown any symptoms at all. I went to the teen clinic and was checked three times, inside and outside the vagina. She said she didnt see anything. I suggested that it might be "dormant" and she said she still didnt think I have it.
He is 33 years old and has stenosis in his cervical spine, quickly advancing arthritis in his cervical spine and low back, and has additional pain from having multiple knee surgeries (one of which was botched by kaiser), a complete thyroidectomy (due to thyroid cancer 6 years ago), and a car accident in the past which rotated his sacrum. I am so sorry that u have been to Drs that feel Chiari is not an issue, I think we all have and it is not Kaiser as a whole as I know we have had members with Kaiser get Drs that did surgery...so it is possible...take a look at our list of Drs and use it to research....I do not know Northern CA from Southern as far as where these Drs are, but u may have to travel.....many of us do...take a look, research the Drs as this list is NOT a referral...
In my case the State called kaiser the next day and a kaiser senior exec.called me immediately to offer their support in many ways. I had to do this when my GI dr took months and delayed decide which tx to put me on because in Feb they WERE NOT YET prescribing S&O. I asked kaiser for a second opinion referral to see a hepatologist at ucsf and Dr.Terrault gave her recommends of which tx's would be best given my host factors.
So now that i found out that i have hsv-1 do i need to take valtrex everyday for the rest of my life if i dont want to get my partner infected?
My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.
I have not had any outbreaks at all, I occasionally have burning and itching, but beyond that nothing else. I have been on supressive therapy w/ Valtrex since the end of may. I have had pain on lower right abdomen, under my ribcage it feels, and pain on my right lower back. Is this a symptom of Herpes, or can this be a reaction to the Valtrex?
