valtrex for vertigo

Glad to say I've been vertigo free for three years, on Valtrex daily. That is til today. I guess I needed to up the Valtrex when I get really congested along with a Sudafed/ Allegra D to dry out. There is a blood test for the Herpes 1 which I was positive for.

She has had herpes for a year and has never had an outbreak ever since her first one. She also has been on valtrex ever since. At one point during sex, the condom rolled up to the middle of my penis and I had to roll it back down. Also, after the sex, I removed the condom and masturbated myself. I am an uncircumcised male by The way. Days after, I was really scared and stressed over this and I had a slight vertigo symptom where I became dizzy and my body heated up for 5 Mins.

2 weeks later I woke up with extreme vertigo nausea, vomiting, disorientation and dizzines. My doctor diagnosed Ramsey-Hunt Syndrome. Since then the face paralysis has gone completley (hooray) the extreme vertigo is gone however I continue to be disoriented and have dizzy spells. My walking is effected in that I have real difficulty with my balance - I sometimes am literally "bouncing" off the walls. I have numbness in my right arm and hand.

I went to a neurologist that specializes in migraine because I know I have them (my EEG is positive) and she first had me tested for Acoustic neuroma in which I was thank goodness negative, and also negative for the benign positional paroxysmal vertigo and I am negative for that since it doesn't happen with movement of my head. So she put me on a drug for migraine called Trokendi and I haven't had one since the drug was at the proper dose. Plus a very lose dose (10mg) of Amitriptyline.

Three hours later I was on my bed vomiting for 14 hours. I had Vertigo from hell! I could not move my head or the room would spin violently. Finally I asked my husband to call an ambulance- I couldn’t take anymore. I remember screaming when they pulled me from the bed and on to the stretcher. They gave me Zofran in the IV and it did nothing to stop the vomiting. In the ER the doctor had no idea what was wrong.

Valtrex is usually for herpes infections and they usually just treat gbs with IV antibiotics when you're in labor so idk id call them back and ask why they gave you that?

I started taking Valtrex for Herpes2, and I feel anxious,depressed, and I have been waking up with bad headaches in the middle of the night. I don't know if it is all in my head, because I just tested postive for this, and I have been dealing with this for about 15 yrs. I am still shocked. I have been to several doctors who blew it off as a yeast infection. Does anyone know of any alternatives that work?

After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?

Hi thanks for the explanation. I did have severe vertigo last year and saw an ENT that said my vertigo was not an inner ear issue he suggested then it was neurological in nature but further investigation is yet to determine where my vertigo stems from. I'm often lightheaded. But I also feel like when I'm standing doing something I feel like things are moving around me. Strange I know but it doens't happen often enough to really bother me yet.

i was told to take gravol for my vertigo is this true will gravol help my vertigo

Thanks for the replys ive had vertigo for a month now it went away for a couple of days in between but came bak im taking stemtil which I find helps clear my head a bit helps wit my nausea too I hope it goes away will keep posted :)

Today I did a blood test for hsv 1 and hsv2 before a doctor diagnosed the blısters as herpes but doctor examined me has given me zostex until the results come out. zostex is used for herpes zoster and as far as I know not related with genital herpes, he said it was also an untiviral for hsv ? is that true? should I use it till the results come out?

Hello, i had a hsv 1 genital outbreak about a month ago, i have had this for six years and only one outbreak since the first time, my question is, do i really need to stay on the valtrex for surpresive therapy, or would it be smarter to stay on it to avoid giving it to someone else

I have been on valtrex for the past 4 months (1 a day) if the symptoms I am having have not gone away for a period of 2 years ( symptoms are there for a week then subside for 2 - 3 days then come back ) this has been like clockwork for the past 2 years.

Anyone have success with valtrex alleviating symptoms ?My Dr. prescribed it for 1 week. I also take desipramine (TCA) and have not had any relief from that yet either. It has been 2 weeks. How long can this crazy virus last? Does it subside or run it's course within 6 months? I thought I read this somewhere. Sorry for the multiple questions- this is just so frustrating... I want relief. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!!!

I would not take Valtrex everyday for the rest of your life unless you want liver damage/failure. I took Valtrex for a little over a year to suppress the herpes and it worked well...only problem it that it elevated my liver enzymes which is not a good thing. Doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex and only take it if I absolutely need it, ie wedding, meeting, ect.

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.

Burning more in the Genital area but all over my body! I have been taking 1 gram per day for 4 months. I was taking for longer before but i stopped to see if that's what's been causing the burning for about 1 month but im not sure if that was a long enough wait because i still had the burning.

my partner who i met has been on Valtrex for a couple of years and the pass year we had unprotected sex. I went and got tested and my blood work came back negative. She is ok with the results and angry that she allowed me to convince her and not using condoms. I just can't explained why we did it without condoms only that I love her and we are getting marry.

The rate of resistance to valtrex is about 1% in otherwise healthy folks. It really isn't going to be an issue for you. did you ever follow up on your other issues?

Rather than blowing up about it, I came home and did some research. But I was sad to find that Valtrex is only prescribed for Simplex I, Simplex II and Zosters. So I asked her about it (via instant message - is that bad?). She said she gets cold sores sometimes, and the Valtrex gets rid of them quickly. Indeed I remembered that the empty bottle was for a seven-day dosage. But in all of the times that I've seen her, I never noticed a cold sore.

OK. So its been nearly 2 months since I've been diagnosed with this inconvenience. Since I never had a "noticeable outbreak", every little itch or tingling that I get spooks me (The reason why I say that is because the time I had sex with my ex, I did have some tingling and 5 days later he had small blisters on his penis, so I know he contracted it from me).
