About 5 weeks ago, I noticed some small white bumps growing around the base of the shaft of my penis. I didn't think much of it at first, but after I didn't notice any improvements, I went in to see my GP. This was after probably 3 or 4 weeks of these bumps being present. He took a look at them and almost immediately diagnosed them visually as Genital Herpes, saying it was HSVII.
Thanks for responding, but isn't valtrex and valacyclovir different?
The strange part, was that this first out break went on and on for almost a full year without relenting. I tried Valtrex and acyclovir which both did NOTHING to clear up the outbreak. As time went on, it eventually went away, much to my relief. Since then, I have yet to have another out break (almost 3yrs now) ... Although I did have a similar rash around my belly button at one point during the first outbreak. I also had blisters on my hand at one point (also during this 1yr span).
d ever been diagnosed with was visually by a nurse for molluscum contagiosum in the pelvic area. He tested negative for everything but his blood test for HSV1+2 came back positive for HSV 2 (not sure of the exact numbers). He has never had a herpes outbreak or cold sore in any area. I have a few questions and if any of them could be answered it would be appreciated.
1. Could the molluscum contagiosum cause a positive HSV 2 result since MC is in the 'pox family'?

Hello guys, so here is my story. I've asked so many questions but this issue got me speechless. I had an encounter about 3.5 years ago, the condom broke and as result of that i contracted molluscum contagiosum and hpv. Molluscum were treated right away and never again had any issues with them. HPV I only had may be 2 at the time (2 month after the encounter) and another one popped up like 4 month ago and was treated as well.
Hello. Here is my question. I have been tested every year for STD's when I go to my annual exam and usually only worried about the HIV result and when all came back negative I didn't pay much attention to anything else. I have now heard that just because you say you want STD testing they don't always (or didn't used to) test for HSV. I was pregnant in 2009 and miscarried 2nd trimester and was never told anything about being positive for HSV.
My son had Molluscum for over a year. We tried aldara, zymaderm, we even had some burned off with acid and nothing worked.
I went to a new doc and she told me about Molluscumrx. A product she said she has used for a couple years.
Within a few days the lesions began to respond( they got a dark red), within 3 weeks they were totally gone. I wish I had known about this stuff before. It would have saved my son a lot of misery.

He could not do a culture so he did a blood test. In the 2 weeks waiting for my results the bumps spread to the inner lips of my vagina some going away ,some new ones appearing,and some bigger than others. Some bumps seem to look like white heads then go away but all the while very ichy to the point where i could not stand it.
I tested in April at 1.68 for hsv2 and 3.3 for hsv2. I have only had slight burning(more like yeast)and a small cut. He tested in May over 5 for hsv1 (cold sore history) and 1.75 for Hsv2 with no herpes symptoms.Neither of us have had any herpes blisters or lesions. The bumps are in the hair area and he was a shaver at the time( has since stopped). They appeared in mid April. We assumed then they were herpes.We have been together a couple of times and i havent gotten them.Does this mean I wont?

I went to see a different dermatologist after that and he took one look and said molluscum contagium. Meanwhile I had a full blood and urine workup for sexual diseases and they all came back negative except the HSV2 test which was .92 equivocal. Naturally I am concerned about a herpes infection will get retested but if I have the molluscum virus could the antibodies generated from that cause an equivocal test result for hsv 2? Also how ling should I wait to get retested for hsv2?

I have been reading a lot and am a bit perplexed. Last Friday night I had unprotected sex with a female.
I awoke Monday morning and noticed 2 red bumps on my upper left thigh (1 larger than the other), 3 small bumps in my pubic region (2 of which looked like zits with white heads), some reddish/flesh colored bumps beginning to arise on the shaft of my penis.
This is all so confusing. Now I am more worried for her (I was worried for both of us before). How do symptoms just show up if she had sex back in December? Aren't symptoms supposed to appear within weeks? If my tests come back negative, what do I do? If we both have it, that would suck, but we could still stay together (once you are infected...thats is right?)....but if only she has it, how do we stay together? Am I then gambling that I won't get it at some point?
I started taking Valtrex for Herpes2, and I feel anxious,depressed, and I have been waking up with bad headaches in the middle of the night. I don't know if it is all in my head, because I just tested postive for this, and I have been dealing with this for about 15 yrs. I am still shocked. I have been to several doctors who blew it off as a yeast infection. Does anyone know of any alternatives that work?
About 1.5 years ago, I had my first Herpes OB (genital). My primary Dr. at the time tested a sample from a legion and only confirmed to me that it was Herpes (without any specifics beyond that). I ended up with three outbreaks in two months initially.
My Dr. started me on 500mg daily Valtrex. He also tested me for HIV due to some concern, but that came back negative.
After thinking about it around 12 hours later I realized I was at risk for infection. I took 1500 MG of Valtrex and will continue with 1000MG twice a day for a few more days. It makes some sense that the Valtrex could interfere with the HSV1 virus spreading from the initial infection sight to the nerves if you have Valtrex in your system prior to of soon after an initial exposure. Does anyone have any insight?
your partner is testing negative for herpes so it's not likely you recently contracted herpes from them. no reason for any further herpes testing at this point.
your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes. go and be seen again elsewhere to see what they think. This could be regular ole acne or irritation, molluscum or even a bacterial skin infection going on.
So let me tell you some of my previous std encounters. I had molluscum for a while finally got the rest froze off at the dermatologist, i also had a pimple looking bump on my shaft before that i had popped and it went away ..it came back 2 more times, the last time it got like infected swelled up like crazy and was all red. I ended up popping it with a needle and drained it out there was like blood and pus i guess coming out of it.
Molluscum has NOTHING to do with HIV, and I wish people would stop saying that lol. Its not your fault, but it seems people like to connect everything with HIV.
Molluscum is even found in day cares, where HIV is not an issue.
Anyway, you should see your doctor. You can get molluscum at the gym, etc. Go to www.ashastd.org for more info on it, but molluscum isn't something that is hard to see.
