I'm curious as to what else your doctor had you do besides take acyclovir. The initial igg was negative in April, as well as the culture. I had 100 bumps all over me, however, the ob felt that since I was already on valtrex (for EBV) that full lesions were not forming. The igm was positive, she said it was my first outbreak in April. Than, 8 weeks later the igg came back positive for HSV1. Than, at sixteen weeks the igg came back negative for both HSV1 and HSV2. How can the igg go from positive to negative?
My Dr. wrote a prescription for 1gm daily pill of Valtrex. I already have stomach problems and am trying to minimize potential side effects with highest drug efficacy. Seems logical to take 2 pills at 500mg/pill instead.
Would this reduce stomach upset and/or improve absorption of drug? Thx in advance.
I was diagnosed with CAEBV in Feb of this year. My doctor prescribed 2g 2x/day valtrex. When I took it I couldn't move. I went from needing a rest after each activity to taking 30 minutes to figure out to move my body to the bathroom. My doc said I could reduce the dosage so I started taking 1g in the day and 2 at night. I was still very limited but could function for one activity a day and could lay in bed and read books/play games with my kids.
It sounds like you currently do not meet the CDC's criteria for CFS, but you might want to look at these other symptoms and make sure.
A CFS diagnosis should be considered in patients who present with six months or more of unexplained fatigue accompanied by other characteristic symptoms.
In January I got EBV but didn't have insurance till June my test came back positive 2.

After reading answers to similar questions on MedHelp I'm not sure he is asking me to do the right thing? Please help me if you can regarding this situation. It looks to me like the specific tests are negative and the IgM is inconclusive and often unreliable accordingly. Do you agree or do I have HSV?
so did you get diagnosed with acute EBV mono ? This would mean a positive blood test result for EBV igM antibodies (igM antibodies indicate a current infection).
If you were negative for igM but positive for iGg, it just means you have had contracted EBV at some point in the past. This isnt very useful, as most people (said to be 95% by age 30) have contracted EBV at some stage in their lives.
