valtrex canker sores

I have increasingly been getting canker sores for the past 6 months. Outbreaks only give me one week of rest in between often lasting anywhere from 3-5 weeks at a time. Outbreaks vary in diameter and number. The sores are located solely on the INSIDE of my lower lip, gums, and tongue. Other possible symptoms (related or not): frequent bowel movements, loss of appetite, decreased sex drive I have been to several doctors. Done several labs, blood tests.

I had unprotected oral sex 3 days ago. I have developed 2 canker sores on the front bottom lip (inside the mouth). I've infrequently had canker sores before, but never anything like this. I previously tested negative for both HSV1 and HSV2 before this incident. Also, any thoughts on symptoms of developing the two canker sores?

The sores started as red bumps which turned into open sores that looked like canker sores, around the inside of my lower labia and the entrance to my vagina. I have been taking 500 mg Valtrex daily since then and have not had an outbreak since. Does Valtrex often work this well? And does this truly sound like herpes or a misdiagnosis? Thanks.

Most canker sores are painful. So are almost all herpes lesions -- even more than canker sores. Sounds like you probably had something else entirely, neither herpes nor a canker sore. I won't even try to guess at other possibilities. This isn't an STD problem, so I won't have more to say.

There are no lesions on his mouth as he started valtrex as soon as he noticed but he has canker sores on his upper gums. I said no, however he did recently have what he believed to be canker sores in his mouth which were almost healed. the doctor then advised that he believed that was the cause of my herpes... my husband's canker sores. I've never had a cold sore. Canker sores inside my mouth. But never anything on my lips. I've never had an outbreak since my first one 12 years ago. Sometimes twinges or itchy and thinking I have a vaginal infection. I guess just still wishing original diagnosis was wrong. I want to keep my partner safe. But also be able to have sex without paranoia of infecting him.
