This may be a shot in the dark, but my son used to get canker sores all the time and I started keeping a diary of what he was eating and when he would have outbreaks. Finally decided it was grape juice, grape jelly, etc. To this day, he can't eat or drink a lot of that or he will get a canker sore. Of course, follow your doctor's instructions but it may be a good idea to start keeping a diary and see if you see a pattern there.
I thought HSV1 cold sores only appeared on the outside of your lips? Is it possible that this is not herpes related and I just have chronic canker sores? I am terrified to kiss someone because I don't want to infect someone if this is herpes related. Do I need to go to the doctor and get a culture? Thanks so much in advance for your help.
best thing to do is to be seen today and get a lesion culture done on these. it's the only way to accurately diagnose hsv2 orally.
Generally outbreaks would only occur during the winter when my lips were dry and often when I was on my period. I would take valtrex as soon as the tingling started and more often then not the lesions would be pretty manageable. 3 months ago I had a pretty severe outbreak concentrated around my nose (the inside and tip). This is the first time this has happened.
There are no lesions on his mouth as he started valtrex as soon as he noticed but he has canker sores on his upper gums. Today, we were just joking around and we got carried away, he sucked on one of my nipples before abruptly stopping and looking at me in horror saying he was so sorry. Many times my lymph nodes will get huge and sore, and I will often get huge painful sores under my tongue. It all lasts about 3-4 weeks and is very, very painful and brings me down tremendously.

But, now I have several small sores on my lips, gums, tongue and the sides of my mouth. They are white but do not look like canker sores. They look more like patches of dead skin. But they hurt like hell! I cannot eat or brush my teeth. What should I do? Would baking soda help? Any info would be appreciated. How can I get rid of these sores in my mouth??

The sores started as red bumps which turned into open sores that looked like canker sores, around the inside of my lower labia and the entrance to my vagina. Two days later 4 or 5 of similar new ones showed up, each has yellow liquid inside and very much resembles herpes cold sores. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was herpes. I did not do any blood test though.
However, I read on some posts that the first outbreak of oral herpes is rarely on the chin, cause it's not as sensitive an thin as the skin on the lips or lip line. I never had an outbreak before though.

Question: My husband apparently has HSV I, genitally. He took a course of Valtrex. He tested positive through cultures, and I haven't had symptoms but tested HSV I positive through blood test (7.22 IV from IgG.) Do I have anything to worry about if he has an outbreak again? Or if he doesn't? Should he wear a condom since I'm already positive?
On the underside of the shaft. And one ln the head. And a few in between the head and shaft. Circumcised. 21. Few sexual partners.
Been with girlfriend for a few months and have had sex over 40 times. Never had any issues before. But recently devolved the sores. Some are very painful to touch and others not at all. No pain to urinate. No itching. Partner is clean. Sores developed few days after a night together. Sores look like pimples that were popped and scabbed a little.
I agree with MildlyInterestedYetHopelessyConfused. Changes in pH can spur canker sores to show up. Also, canker sores can be caused by agitation in your mouth, sucking, etc. Which, if you gave head, is essentially what went on. There are various types of canker sores. From what I've found out through research and medical inquiry, it's not because your boyfriend is 'unclean' or the general 'cleanliness' of your mouth. No worries there.
i have been researching online a little and it seems that herpes are just cold sores and i dont have cold sores. my tongue and inside of my lips get canker sores at least once a month and they are really painful.
are canker sores different from herpes?
is there anyway to stop them from coming?
are they contagious?
