Hi Tony, You need anti-viral meds (zovirax, valtrex, etc) to treat herpes. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in the penicillin group of drugs. It fights bacteria in your body.
I had it swabed and the doctor said it was not herpes. I upped Valtrex to 1500mg a day for five days and nothing happened. Could I be allergic to the Valtrex and only have a rash on part of my body? Any ideas what to do? I thought it might be a herpes rash, but I would think after ten years, the rash would go away within 7-12 days. It seems to be getting worse even using the Valtrex. Any help would be appreciated.
Well they did a blood test 6 weeks ago and it was neg for Syphilis. So they put me on Valtrex. 6 weeks later it was still there and they sent me for an emergency ENT appointment. She biopsied it and made me get a CT scan...thinking it was cancer.
Biopsy results came back poz for syphilis. SOOOooo not doxycycline twice a day for a month.
BUT I have the sores on my inner lip and would like to put something on them that will help to clear them up.
What are the contraindications of taking penicillin and valacyclovir during the same cycle ? Can they both be taken on the same day ?
Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
The doc tested for flu (negative) and then strep (positive), then proceeded to write prescrips for Tylenol with codeine, penicillin and Valtrex (also have a few cold sores on my lips). No other symptoms.
I've been using the meds for 24 hours now and simply put, they do not work. They don't lessen the sore throat at all, and it's pretty miserable.
My doctor prescribed Cipro (tests showed the staph was resistant to penicillin) and after two rounds (three days each) it has finally cleared up again (again, about a week after my cycle has ended and after two three-day rounds of the cipro). She also recommends having a herpes blood test done because she wonders how I contracted the staph and why it is recurring with my cycle.
My amoxicillin capsules are made out of yellow food dye. My pharmasit told me that I open the capsule and take just the powder. The problem is the strong taste of the powder makes me gag.what can I do ?

Iam having a terrible toothache the dentist said it is my wisdom tooth growing below my other tooth.She prescribed penicillin due to infections and I have a fever. I am scared to take it thinking that it may affect my babies. I am pregnant with twins.My first pregnancy ended in m/c at 5 1/2/ months.She said its ok for pregnant women to take.I am still taking my progestorones.

I have been on Penicillin VK for a few days due to some upcoming dental work. I know that gonhorrea and ngu are the only real (albeit very small) risks, and typically your advice to people is that if they haven't had any symptoms of discharge etc. that you do not recommend testing. Does my Penicillin VK change that advice? I have a "normal" sex partner that I want to keep safe.
I have body wide stiffness etc; possibly fibro. or lyme - lots of neck pain etc; the couple of times I have taken penicillin for un-related health issues, my other symptoms have much improved!!! just as dlt58 describes.

Of course he gave me Cipro, an ointment, penicillin shot and Valtrex. A week and a half ago there were also some blisters that poped rapidly some clear fluid ( like five of them) but hours later they formed a black scab (they also hurt)and had lots pain in my left leg and left groin.
I got my lab results (which I went a week ago) and they were negative for siphilis, IgG negative (negative for herpes) and IgM positive.
most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks.
Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side?
Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.
Thanks for the reply. Well if valtrex doesnt affect the results,wouldnt 55days be enough for conclusion? As doctors say 6weeks is quite enough for antihiv tests except cemotherapy patients?
Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.
If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex?

I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.
