I have been exposed to high risky begining of last month(April) and went on PEP within 24hours and right now im waiting to be tested on the 3 month date post nPEP but my question is, i have been having a sore throat since 4th week post exposure upto now 8 weeks since exposure and now i have figured out tht i might have Mono as my toungeis now turning white,i also have swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and i cant have access to a Doctor at these days to confirm because of my location,i heavly depe
m not sure about being 27 as too old. I had mono twice while in college. I was supposed to be chilling out and relaxing but instead I continued to keep late hours and drank beer. When I was re-tested to see how I was doing, the results were worse! My parents almost took me out of college. With that threat, I promised to get rest, eat proper nutrition and no beer. I recovered without any complications. BTW, how do you know if you have Mono if you haven't seen a doctor?
Infectious mononucleosis is not as contagious as the flu, since the flu is an airborne pathogen and can travel greater distances and spread more rapidly to a wider area. Mononucleosis, by contrast, is transmitted only through direct contact with the person's saliva. However, you have to remember that your sister-in-law's immune system is depressed because of the chemotherapy, and she is more susceptible to catching pathogens which normal people would be more resistant to.
A guy I know had mononucleosis late last September. Got better by last week in October. He kissed a girl from late December to early January. I do not believe she ever showed signs or symptoms of mono. I kissed the same girl this past weekend, March 15th. How likely am I to contract mono? Could he have given it to her without her knowing? If she has already had it, would I still have a chance at contracting it? I do not know whether or not I have ever had mono.
most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop.
at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks.
Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side?
Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.
Thanks for the reply. Well if valtrex doesnt affect the results,wouldnt 55days be enough for conclusion? As doctors say 6weeks is quite enough for antihiv tests except cemotherapy patients?
Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.
If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex?

I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.
I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bout an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I know this question is asked over and over but, are my test conclusive even on Valtrex? My last exposure was 9 months ago if that wasn't clarified?
ve been taking 500mg of Valtrex every night and plan to do so for the next year to year and a half as suggested by my doctor. I have had no other outbreaks since the first one. My doctor explained to me that taking Valtrex on a regimen would help the virus become dormant. I was wondering what that meant specifically in terms of my likelihood of transmitting the virus to sexual partners with or without condoms.
Saturday I woke up really really dizzy and I still am dizzy. I started getting tingles like pins and needles all over my body and face. My eyes hurt as well as my head. I went to the doctor today to rule out Rhematoid arthritis, lupus, and Lyme disease. I had these symptons about 4 years ago and they just vanishes mysteriously. Any ideas? Fibromylagia maybe?
