It is unusual to get zoster every month, especially if u r taking valtrex, Are u immunosuppressed eg taking steroids, chemotherapy or are u very run down?

I have genital herpes and my partner has a severely compromised immune system as a result of chemotherapy tx. We have not had sexual intercourse and want to understand what is safe to do/not do. Trying also to determine the best kind of specialist to consult with.

I have in the past but now the valtrex prescription has gone up in price and i'm not sure i can fit it into my budget at this time.

Had a rapid test and lab gen 4 test completed at 65 days. Will taking valtrex around the time of the test cause a false negative?

most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop. at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.

The decision to do chemotherapy during chemotherapy would be based on the estimated risk versus benefit in any individual case and would be decided by an oncologist. In general, the preference is not to do chemotherapy during the first trimester of pregnancy and to wait as long as is reasonable based on risk. The later in the pregnancy that chemotherapy is given, the less risk to the fetus. You should discuss this specifically with your oncologist and obstetrician.

After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks. Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side? Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.

i have generic valtrex but i also have chronic migraine and i feel the valtrex gives me a headache. do u get side effects from valtrex?

Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.

If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex? Thank you.

I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.

I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bout an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I had a tumor removed June 2nd, found out 10 days later it is ovca, then was informed that I must have a hysterectomy and chemotherapy in mid July. I had a CT scan less than a week ago. I know it is (at least) Stage I-C but when the tumor was taken out my original doctor felt something on my liver. My oncologist has been out of town and does not come back until July 9th. Needless to say, I don't know any other details and felt that I was thrown to the wolves.

It's hard to say whether a patient will have only nausea or all out vomiting. Everyone responds differently to chemo, so no one can say for sure. I had that combination for two different cycles. The first cycle of 6 treatments did not make me vomit. But a year and half later, I started it again and did vomit from it. Do you know if your mom's Oncologist will pre-treat her with medication before each infusion with anything to lessen the chances of being sick from it?

Just in case there are some dormient and inmature cells, I would do some chemo, you only have one chance to do this, so I myself would take the chemo, maybe hald doses will do it.

I'm 45 years old and was diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer, high grade tumor (2 cms), no lymph nodes involved, ER-, PR+, HER2- I underwent a lumpectomy on August 13 and I'm starting chemo next week. The oncologist told me I'll have 8 rounds of Adriamycin, cytoxan, taxol and neulasta. She also prescribed Kytril for nausea. Is this a "standard" chemoterapy or a more aggresive one?

The sure way to find out is to have the proper thyroid labs done. TSH, Free T4, and Free T3. This is the best way to know if something is going on. Unfortunately I am sure there are many many long term affects of chemo on the body. Most important is the fact that the ovarian cancer is gone! I am sure that wasn't an easy road to travel.
