Was it a urine test or blood test the doctor took? If it was a urine, then I would go and have a blood test done since it's more accurate. A urine test taken in early pregnancy should really be done with first morning urine because it's most concentrated with hCG - taken later in the day you risk getting false negatives because your urine is diluted.
I also had a positive one week before missed period. I was 3+1 when I got my positive this pregnancy. Ladt pregnancy I didn't get a positive til 2 days after missed period. I used first response early results both times and it seems to work great.

If you get a negative on a pregnancy test, one of three things is true.
1. You are not pregnant.

2. You tested too soon. You should not test until you have been at least two weeks after the last unprotected sex, and preferably shouldn't test until you have missed a period or at least the first day of an expected period.

Some women don't test positive on a urine test for a few weeks after their missed period. Make sure you are testing with your first morning urine for the most accurate results. I agree with GordonBaby too, wait a week and test again if you have not started your cycle and follow up with your doctor.

A doctor would test your urine and it would show up on the urine testing stick whether you have nitrite in the urine or not. It is very common after having "rampant sex" to experience this. And it is sometimes referred to as the "Honeymoon Syndrome". You still need to get checked out and it is also very important that you drink plenty of water, about 2 litres. Don't overdo the water drinking as this can be just as dangerous as getting dehydrated.
A test at this point should be more than accurate. Get another one (pink dye is recommended) and take it with first morning urine. If this too is negative, make an appointment with your doctor and have blood testing done.
My doctor told me to do another cortisol urine test but I realized I will be getting my period tomorrow. I want to get the test out of the way, so can I do it while on my period? It's not even a heavy period and I hardly even spot. It's basically a non-existent period.
For both of my pregnancies I found out the day I should have started my period using a dollar store test. The line was so faint that I didn't think I was pregnant for sure and went to throw it away when i noticed the super faint line...the first time around as the days went on the line got darker each test I took, then I got the digital clear blue easy and now I have a 14 momth old. I kNOW that blood test is more accurate than urine test and can detect pregnancy after 24 from implantation while urine test can give false positive results and false positive may be due to:
1-chemical pregnancy
2-missed reaction time(too long to read)
3-chemical interference from FERTILITY drugs having HCG ,medication like trankilizer phenothiazine,contamination with blood or gross amount of protien,
4-evaporation line,you see faint evaporation line as the urine crosses the test in the test are
These symptoms take up almost 1-2 weeks to appear after a missed period. Take up pregnancy test. Urine pregnancy test is a very sensitive test for diagnosing pregnancy if done correctly. It detects the presence of beta hcg in urine. This test can be taken up 2-3 days after a missed period. If you still get a negative in a few days using first morning urine, have your doctor do a blood test. It is rare, but some women never do get a positive urine pregnancy test...
Were you taking the pill each day through your cycle? if so, pregnancy isn't likely...your symptoms may be PMS.
Did you have unprotected sex around 2 weeks before your period was due?
now it is a year later and im scared cause im a week late and my urine test are negative. i do have some pain and i dont know what is going on. i had an ultra sound done but i do not understand the numbers that were posted. i will not see my doctor until two weeks from now. this has this happen to anyone?
