trileptal and birth control

I just start trileptal two weeks ago, I have always taken birth control and never had a problem but I strongly dislike condoms..... please help.

but i would like to share this with you lamictal and trileptal do affect birth control pills and vise verse i.e. you can get pregnant using these as they reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills by 40%to 50% ,,,,,,,,,,also (which done me a great harm) the birth control pills reduce the effect of BP meds up to 50% also. i read on some site (but i cannot remember which) that birth control pills can affect most of psychiatric meds.

ve been very short-tempered, angry and critical of me and others. Losing control of my anger and breaking things. Very restless and burst into tears over nothing. It rather ***** when you're so annoyed at everything that you even annoy yourself. I'm scared with suicidal thoughts when i MAKE myself sit down and be calm. It crawls inside of me and makes me want to rip myself apart. I don't want to hurt myself... or others... I'm a very non violent person in most cases.

My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.

HI, was on trileptal for seizure control. but it lowered my sodium, and also I had a seizure on it. so its been two weeks since I stopped the the dose completely. I still get lots of anxiety. Not sure if its due to weaning or not. I was taken from 1050 mg a day to 0 in 4-6 weeks.

Whereas 6 x 200mg of Carbamazepine used to keep things relatively under control, now I am at 17 x 200mg (3,400mg daily) and still suffer from unimaginable pain. My question is: What is the most effective dosing schedule should I use for Carbamazepine? Would that be 4 pills 4 times per day? Or perhaps 5 pills 3 times per day? Or 3 pills 5 times per day (i.e. - Getting up in the middle of the night for a dose.)? I feel right now my schedule is rather willy-nilly...

She gets worse during the week before her period to the week after. She is on the 3 month birth control as of last month to see if this helps. We are going to the endocrinologist in 2 weeks for the annual checkup and to retest the hormone levels etc. Her brain is over active at night and she's on Lunesta as needed which seems to be every night.

I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.

Hi, Tammy, I'm no stranger to TN, and it's rearing it's ugly head again, lately. I take a combination of Gabapentin, and Trileptal (a kin to Tegritol). Trileptal makes me dizzy, but if I ramp up very slowly, it becomes tolerable. So, I start with 300 mg each of G and T at bedtime, for three days. Then, I add the same doses in the morning, so that my morning and evening doses are 12 hours apart. I do this for three days, and then add a noon dose if necessary.

DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??

I called my doctor that prescribed my mood stabilizers and he said that the Trileptal can cause short cycles (I get my period every CD14) and he said that I need to be on a birth control that has no hormones... What kind of birth control has no hormones in it??? Seriously?

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?

I gained about twenty pounds on Trileptal, (a very similar drug), in just a month, and now I am also switching to Zonegran. I'm still in the process of raising my dose, but thrilled that it's working well for your daughter!

Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

Apparently my last neurologist over-dosed my on both Tegretol and Neurontin and I am currently being weaned off of both and they are trying small doses of Lyrica (which I had horrible side effects with after taking 5- 75mg doses...not a large amount). What I would like to know is that if I am having side effects from the Tegretol, why would they now try this Trilepital? For you it looks like the cat's meow so to speak honey!

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

Is anyone taking Trileptal for Touretts and OCD combined. My 13 year old daughter does. Does not help as much as Abilfy but does not have the hunger issue either.

I have heard about the patch and the IUD and wanted to know all about them or any other really effective birth control. I don't want anything that will increase my acne, weight, or flow. I have bad acne and flow as it is.

So my question is should I get on birth control? How will this effect the way I act and the way I feel? I have heard bad stories about the pill, and that it makes you really cranky, and I am already cranky once I ovulate, and I am worried my boyfriend will leave me if I am more cranky, because he has threatened to leave a few times when I had ovulated and had been cranky.
