Avatar n tn Hi, I am sorry to say i don't know! Try googling it like this : Migraine+Trigeminal Neuralgia. I just saw your post and want to share something that helps me when I have bad headaches. Join the face book group "Headache Helper". There's a new product there that makes a big difference to me... maybe it will help you.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Trigeminal neuralgia may be presented with typical one sided facial pain extending to temple and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid.
1475492 tn?1332884167 An interesting aspect is that this form affects both men and women equally and can occur at any age, unlike typical trigeminal neuralgia, which is seen most commonly in women. Though TN and ATN most often present in the fifth decade, cases have been documented as early as infancy. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia is usually caused by multiple sclerosis or by tumours arising near the trigeminal nerve root. Differential diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia: Cluster headache - Longer-lasting pain; orbital or supraorbital; may cause patient to wake from sleep; autonomic symptoms Dental pain (e.g.
Avatar m tn ive never heard of caffiene causing this, it almost sounds like a nerve irritation. there are certian nerves that innervate your face such as the trigeminal nerve and the facial nerve. I'm not a physician but this sounds slightly similar to trigeminal neuralgia, which is inflammation of the trigeminal nerve causing facial pain and pain around an eye. the fact that it radiates and you feel heat and numbness sounds like nerve pain to me.
Avatar m tn This may be Trigeminal neuralgia as you have typical one sided facial pain extending to temple and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid.
Avatar m tn Differentials will be a migraine headache, trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, carotidynia and tension headaches. Trigeminal neuralgia is associated with a severe pain over the temples, the cheeks ,and over the jaw.The pain may be debilitating and may be aggravated by light touch , brushing the teeth or combing your hair. Carotidynia may be pain over the neck and temples. There are a few types and they may be due to an underlying viral infection.
Avatar f tn Chronic fatigue syndrome, ophthalmic migraine, refractive errors of the eye, sleep disturbances (despite your feeling sleepy), hypothyroidism, temporal arteritis, pinched trigeminal nerve (trigeminal neuralgia) are a few possibilities. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into.
Avatar n tn I looked it up on the internet and found that I had the symptoms of both Trigeminal Neuralgia and Occipital Neuralgia. I did not believe it to be a coital headache because it wasn't active enough, but it could be. Also, I successfully masturbated and experienced an orgasm properly while lying on my side. The pain has mostly gone away, but not completely. Also, it sometimes comes on its own [the feeling of trigeminal neuralgia], especially when I am in the light.
Avatar f tn If all these are normal, then you would need CT scan of the brain. TMJ, temporal arteritis and trigeminal neuralgia too should be investigated. Consult a good neurologist and rule out these possibilities. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn ve had headaches, eye pain and facial pain for some time now which was diagnosed as migraine, cluster headache and now trigeminal neuralgia. I am taking Gabapentin for this pain and it does work and relieves the pain until it wears off. Apart from the above, I get tingling in my cheek and sometimes temporary numbness and odd sensations spreading over my cheek.
Avatar f tn Some possibilities include sinusitis, trigeminal neuralgia, cluster headaches, migraine headaches, hypertension, increased intracranial pressure, temporal arteritis, glaucoma and others. I would first see an ophthalmologist and then consider a neurologist if necessary.
Avatar n tn Then large lumps under arm began, antibiotics did not work and had allergic reaction. Regular doc referred me to a neurologist who diagnosed trigeminal neuralgia and prescribed anti-seizure and anti-depressant. Had MRI and EEG. Tests showed nothing. So now I am not sure what to do, I am 23 and can't live the rest of my life like this. The pain wakes me up at night and I have very bad head aches. What is the next step to take? Any similar stories?
Avatar n tn Trigeminal neuralgia - it's a painful inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. It typically affects older adults, and there isn't a known cause.... It's strange - it can cause really sharp shooting pains that lasts only a few seconds, and can be triggered by the oddest things. Some people only need to be lightly touched on the areas of the face it ennervates, while other people only have issues with extreme heat fluctuations.
335728 tn?1331414412 Hey people! Thought I would post this as it may be of interest to anyone suffering with Trigeminal Neuralgia as I do. I haven't had a chance to speak with anyone about it but perhaps someone here like Quix might know if there is a possibility that this might help us? A lot of people with MS do not have TN but there are a lot that do and if this could work it might save us from having to endure cutting the trigeminal nerves.
Avatar f tn ) This is the nerve that is involved in the other “most painful MS symptom” – trigeminal neuralgia or tic doloureux. However, most headaches are not associated with MRI findings. Just thought some people might be interested, I think now reading on that my headache sounds more cluster like, especially with the explosion feeling behind my eye, but this info matches what my Dr tells me about my lesions causing my migraines.
Avatar f tn Hi, Sharp stabbing pains of short duration may be a cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania, a trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia and migraine headaches with aura. Cluster headaches and paroxysmal hemicrania may present with severe short stabbing pain almost like "ice pick" pains that may involve the eye.Is there any associated eye redness, eye tearing or nasal disharge with your condition? The pain of trigeminal neuralgia usually involves the temples and the face.
Avatar f tn Did you ever get a reply? Sounds like Trigeminal Neuralgia Type 1 or Atypical. There is help for this! Same needs used for seizures help condition and pain attacks. Tegretol is one but many more. Thank you Neurologist treats TN. Studies happening now.
Avatar n tn It sounds like trigeminal neuralgia, which is a bugger to treat, but go see your doc cause there is treatment available!

Avatar m tn Traumatic trigeminal neuropathy is generally not associated with trigeminal neuralgia. However, both entities may be responsive to pharmacologic intervention. Seeing a neurologist or orofacial pain specialist misadvised.
