Trigeminal neuralgia lyme disease

Common Questions and Answers about Trigeminal neuralgia lyme disease

trigeminal-neuralgia

Avatar n tn I only recently heard of the possibility of lyme disease on this website. So no, I have not been tested. But most definetly plan to ask for a test from my doctor. I think she thinks I'm crazy and sometimes I think I am, especially when I try to describe the symptoms and none of them seem to make sense or sound connected. I have had many tick bites over the course of my lifetime but never noticed the "bullseye" rash afterward. I have had the site become rather red and swollen.
Avatar f tn Of your Lyme disease tests though. In order for a doctor to treat your Lyme disease symptoms without a positive test you need to be treat by an LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor). They are the ones who get people better with it. You should really good and post in the Lyme disease section right here on MedHelp. They can help you find an LLMD in your area. Treat it now so you don't have to keep suffering! I really think that's what you are suffering from. I know because I had it.
404715 tn?1233829631 Not having any doctors here to help me I went out of town to an emergency where they then put me on tegretol and told me I most likley have trigeminal neuralgia and set up an appointment with a neurologist.I was on tegretol for two weeks and waiting to go to my neurologist appointment but the pain was still unbearable so I went to the emergency in my city where they changed my meds and put me on neurotin which took a week to work and most of the pain is gone.
Avatar n tn Sounds like trigeminal neuralgia type 2 (which is the constant aching, burning, stabbing pain of somewhat lower intensity than type 1). The underlying cause of any type of neuralgia is damage to a nerve. Causes include shingles, syphilis, MS, Lyme Disease, vitamin B12 deficiency, pressure or injury to nerves due to a slipped discs or tumour to name a few.
Avatar f tn I have been going to the doctor for several years for sinusitis, then I began to have facial pain. After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side.
Avatar n tn Does anybody have experience of neuralgia type facial pain that is associated with hashis. I have had it on and off for years and dtrs felt it was trigeminal neuralgia - but its not electric shocks just this dull dragging pain that feels like all my back teeth are decayed - which they are not. I was searching the internet and have found a dtrs paper with a possible link to underactive thryoids - has anyone had this or an im barking up the wrong tree. Any advice would be grateful.
1453990 tn?1329231426 I am a 48 year old male. I had a diagnosed episode of Optic Neuritis back in the April time frame. I was also experiencing burning dysesthesias in my forearms, hands and feet bilaterally, I was treated with 1 GM Prednisolone IV x 3 days. B-12, Lyme Titers, STS, CMV, Cryoglobulin, HIV were all Neg/Normal. A 1.5 Tesla MRI of brian and neck showed one T2 PSE lesion of the brain w/o contrast. No GAD enhancing lesions. VEP showed decreased amplitude and CV for my right eye.
Avatar n tn she is 29 and has been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. could her tn be from the meningitis? maybe a sid effect?? she is on very strong medication and can not have the dosage increased anymore. she suffers alot with extreme pain. thank you, i need to find out as much as i can about this disease.
Avatar m tn 4 months ago my stomach lining disappeared and I had all these burns then most recently 2 months ago I was told in an ER I had trigeminal neuralgia which is a very painful nerve disorder in your face. I am only 31 years old. I have been to every hospital and did almost every knee jerk reaction test by most of the neurologists in my area, took a Lyme test and been too mayo clinic. Too me it as if my body is attacking its self.
Avatar n tn I also started having numbness in one cheek back in October. I had pressed on a zit on my face before it swelled slightly and went numb. It eventually grew to affect almost my whole left side at one time or another. I have seen 4 neurologist and have been given numerous "diagnoses". I was and still am being worked up for MS(I have numerous white matter lesions in my brain). This is even after testing positive for lyme disease by western blot.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your question. This may be Trigeminal neuralgia as you have typical one sided facial pain extending to temple and eye( ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve may be involved) and sore gums of the teeth of same side (maxillary branch of 5th nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia may have a triggering factor like recent history of tooth extraction, touch, cold breeze or hot sensation etc. which you need to evaluate and avoid.
2116593 tn?1334749913 Where exactly is your pain? I have trigeminal neuralgia which can be mistaken as TMJ. That was one of the things I had to have ruled out before I received my diagnosis of TN.
Avatar f tn Hi all, small question for you, i had no symptoms for 5 months, which was wonderful, and then i got this urinary infection , and the next thing i knew i had severe face pain, particularly in my nose, where it feels lie i have been bashed in the face with a pan, i have buzzing in my ears, and just a general tightness in my neck and shoulders, i got my eyebrows tattooed also, could this have caused trigeminal neuralgia ? or would it have been the infection, ?
425200 tn?1368741070 I have had severe pain and numbness on the right side of my face for almost 4 years now. They have ruled out Trigeminal Neuralgia because of the numbness and ruled out Bell's Palsy because of the pain. I have had CT scans of my sinues and 5 different MRI's with contrast and w/o. All came up clear. They have ruled out MS. I even had a lumbar puncture to test what I'm not sure (but neurologist at the time said I needed to).
Avatar f tn i believe that i have trigeminal neuralgia but i do not know what tests are done to confrim this . can you tell me what tests have to be done so i can ask my physician to ruin these tests or demand they run them ? i have been so sick for so long . i literally have been to 25 -30 doctors to find out what is wrong with me . and every test comes back negative except that a test came back positve for fungal aspergillosis .but they do not say anything about treating it .
Avatar f tn Hi, About a year ago, I suddenly developed shooting pains in the front of my face, above my upper front teeth. I went to the dentist, who x-rayed me, and said I had an abscess, above my left upper 1 tooth. He did root canal treatment, but could not find anything, the pain did not go away, and after several root canals, he referred me to a consultant for an apicectomy. When the operation was done, as he drilled through the bone, he said there was lots of pus to drain away.
Avatar f tn Did you ever get a reply? Sounds like Trigeminal Neuralgia Type 1 or Atypical. There is help for this! Same needs used for seizures help condition and pain attacks. Tegretol is one but many more. Thank you Neurologist treats TN. Studies happening now.
