359574 tn?1328360424 While I feel a little bad about not getting my transverse myelitis/trigeminal neuralgia/possible MS looked at while I am visiting the best neuro hospital in the country, according to US News, I think I need to concentrate on the annie. Besides, that stuff is in my neurosurgeon records and imaging reports, so it will probably come up. I hate that I am between neurologists right now--I left my former, and I haven't been to see the new one yet.
567677 tn?1246767776 I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia in 2005, and only had a couple of attacks a year until latter 2007. November 2007 til now has been awful. I have not had 24 hours pain free yet. I have seen 3 neurosurgeons and 2 neurologist. The neurosurgeons say MS. The neurologist say no way. To my question. The last neuro I saw in Tennessee says not only do I not have MS but I do not have trigeminal neuralgia either. He says Atypical facial pain. I say what is the difference?
359574 tn?1328360424 I had my initial appointment with a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins yesterday about my brain aneurysm. She is not happy with the quality of the angiogram I had done in March, and wants me to have one done at Hopkins. Then she would follow up with me, and also have me see another neuro-ophthalmalogist while I'm there. I will have to schedule it around my work, so it may not be until sometime next year.
Avatar n tn my son developed trigeminal neuralgia after a dental procedure. he is presently on medication for it. he is 28 years old and what is research showing for future care.
Avatar f tn Hi, About a year ago, I suddenly developed shooting pains in the front of my face, above my upper front teeth. I went to the dentist, who x-rayed me, and said I had an abscess, above my left upper 1 tooth. He did root canal treatment, but could not find anything, the pain did not go away, and after several root canals, he referred me to a consultant for an apicectomy. When the operation was done, as he drilled through the bone, he said there was lots of pus to drain away.
Avatar f tn My symptoms are not similar to everyone elses, but could it be trigeminal neuralgia? My pain in not actually in eye, just right on corner between eye and nose?
Avatar f tn According to what I've read Trigeminal Neuralgia can be caused by a blood vessel or vein pressing on the Trigeminal nerve, by MS, by tumors, or by damage to the Trigeminal nerve during a surgical procedure. I'm not really sure about a bump on the head. There are different types of "neuralgia" -- you may want to post your question on the Neurology community or do a search on this website -- if you are asking your question about "neuralgia" in general.
997898 tn?1303734864 dr joh weingart at johns hopkins hospital in baltimore maryland.....has anyone here used this dr for their chiari surgery or know someone who has?
1776315 tn?1314350672 It sounds like trigeminal neuralgia. Is that what they are calling it? That is just awful. Do a search on here for trigeminal neuralgia. Maybe somebody has written about how they got the nerve to calm down. Hope so.
Avatar m tn I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia and am currently taking BACLOFEN to help with the pain. I was treated with the Gamma Knife about a year ago without success. A friend also had TN and was treated with an alcohol shot to the face that had to be repeated about 4 weeks later. That was over 10 years ago and he has had NO pain since. I can find only passing references to the alcohol shot to the face. My question is where can I go to get this alcohol shot to the face?
Avatar f tn i believe that i have trigeminal neuralgia but i do not know what tests are done to confrim this . can you tell me what tests have to be done so i can ask my physician to ruin these tests or demand they run them ? i have been so sick for so long . i literally have been to 25 -30 doctors to find out what is wrong with me . and every test comes back negative except that a test came back positve for fungal aspergillosis .but they do not say anything about treating it .
Avatar m tn I guess I questioning myself, if I should have gone to someone else instead of sticking with the head EP at Hopkins. You like to think the Johns Hopkins has some of the best in their fields. Of course there is always that percentage that it just does not work on. Did you ever discuss actual surgery? Although they do not usually do that just for Afib. BTW, did you ever get tested for sleep apena? Apparently there is a correlation between the two. My test said I did not have sleep apnea.
Avatar f tn Did you ever get a reply? Sounds like Trigeminal Neuralgia Type 1 or Atypical. There is help for this! Same needs used for seizures help condition and pain attacks. Tegretol is one but many more. Thank you Neurologist treats TN. Studies happening now.
Avatar n tn I have a recent dx of Trigeminal Neuralgia from Primary Care and have been referred to Neurology for further evaluation. The pain distribution is unilateral and follows the sensory distribution of cranial nerve V at the maxillary area. History of previous trauma (neuroplasia) dates to 1997, though asymptomatic to current presentation. There is no prior history of TMJ, aneurysms, tumors or other common precipitants. I am 61 years old, consistent with typical onset.

Avatar m tn Traumatic trigeminal neuropathy is generally not associated with trigeminal neuralgia. However, both entities may be responsive to pharmacologic intervention. Seeing a neurologist or orofacial pain specialist misadvised.
738075 tn?1330575844 I woke up with Trigeminal Neuralgia last Thursday morning. I knew that was what it was, because I had it once seven years ago. This time it's SO much worse! I told myself I'd "tough it out" for the weekend, even though I did put in a call to my neurologist. By Sunday, it was so bad, I was in tears! I told my DH "just take me out back and shoot me like an old horse!" I was kidding, but kinda serious, too!
Avatar m tn I just had a nerve block procedure done for my trigeminal neuralgia pain in my face. My face was sore but after 3 days, the pain in my face became more painful and I felt more electrical current shooting onto my lower teeth area. Why does it seem like my facial pain just got worse after this procedure.
Avatar m tn Just to recap, here's my original post that had my symptoms: Here are the facts - I've had very consistent symptoms: Food sensitivity (gluten, nuts, beans, dairy, most fake processed foods) GERD Gas/Diarrhea Vibration sensation in my legs, arms, groin Aches in my arms, hands, legs, and feet (fingers, toes, elbows, and knees hurt most) Muscles in my calves, arms, face feel a bit numb. Sometimes I can wake up very stiff with aches in the morning.
2116593 tn?1334749913 Where exactly is your pain? I have trigeminal neuralgia which can be mistaken as TMJ. That was one of the things I had to have ruled out before I received my diagnosis of TN.
