Trigeminal neuralgia balloon compression

Common Questions and Answers about Trigeminal neuralgia balloon compression

trigeminal-neuralgia

Avatar m tn I had balloon compression just over a year ago for trigeminal neuralgia and soon after that, and ever since, I have had great trouble keeping my right eye open and constantly have to sleep since it feels so tiring and heavy. All around the eye socket it is very heavy and stiff. I have heard that some anathesia remains with the eye following the balloon compression op but I have no medical confirmation of that.

Avatar n tn I am going twice a week to a Chiropractor to get relief from Trigeminal Neuralgia .He is an expert in in nerve pain treatment.I have Trigeminal Neuralgia since Nov ember 20001..I took Homeopathic treatment,Accupuncture treatment..Since one and half years I am taking Gabapentin, colonzepam, baclofom etc.Pain goes and come.some times it almost blind me due to severe pain. Is there anyone who got cure by Chiropractor.
Avatar f tn I have had trigeminal neuralgia for almost 5 years. I have had MVD, Gamma Knife, Nerve Blocks and 4 days ago I had Balloon Compression. I have taken just about every medicine you can think of and am on ALOT of medicines. In addition I have migraines with cluster variance (this is what my neurologist diagnosed it as) whatever they are they are horrrible. I have high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease, TMJ, Interstitial Cystitis, Reflux.
Avatar f tn I have been going to the doctor for several years for sinusitis, then I began to have facial pain. After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side.
Avatar f tn It generally appears as compression of cranial nerves of the brain-stem and can cause trigeminal neuralgia symptoms due to compression. It needs a thorough evaluation with the help of a neurologist here. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Would someone who has Trigeminal Neuralgia please help me out with the progression of this condition. For about a week now - I have numbness above my left eye that seems to have gotten worse everyday - first my eyebrow, then my forehead and now my skull. I have a low grade headache at times and when I lift my eyebrow, pain shoots up my forehead and skull, although not intense pain. I went to see my PCP and he thinks it is Trigeminal Neuralgia and wants to do an MRI.
Avatar f tn Hello, I would like to know if any one out there has TMJ like symptoms along the jaw area, along with their neuralgia. I have been told it is not trigeminal neuralgia, but the symptoms seem to be more like atypical trigeminal instead.. It is consistent, and very painful and the pain medications are making me so sick, I can't function.
Avatar f tn Symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia is usually caused by multiple sclerosis or by tumours arising near the trigeminal nerve root. Differential diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia: Cluster headache - Longer-lasting pain; orbital or supraorbital; may cause patient to wake from sleep; autonomic symptoms Dental pain (e.g.
Avatar f tn I have what is called Paratrigeminal Neuralgia and it is related to Trigeminal Neuralgia which this could be related to. I am also thinking that it could be a paresthesia which is caused by nerves in your face. I think this is something worth mentioning to your neuro next time you see one.
Avatar f tn i believe that i have trigeminal neuralgia but i do not know what tests are done to confrim this . can you tell me what tests have to be done so i can ask my physician to ruin these tests or demand they run them ? i have been so sick for so long . i literally have been to 25 -30 doctors to find out what is wrong with me . and every test comes back negative except that a test came back positve for fungal aspergillosis .but they do not say anything about treating it .
Avatar f tn Where to start, approx 4 years ago i was sitting at my friends home when suddenly I experienced what I can only describe as the most horrific pain in the right side of my face, from the side of my nose across my check bone and radiating through my ear, it lasted approx 4/5 seconds, it felt like a burning electric shock, (I was frozen with the impact and sheer force that this pain hit my face, I would of certainly fallen to my knees If I were not already sitting at this time!
Avatar f tn Could compression or stretching of the trigeminal nerve during surgery cause damage which is causing this neuralgia and head ache. I have no infection and normal blood counts. After trying two steriod dose packs and a Zpack suggested by my neurosurgeon, I went to a general practioner to make sure I had no infection or other cause. Except having high blood pressure, which I usually have low blood pressure, everything was within normal limits. I feel the BP is due to pain.
Avatar f tn If all these are normal, then you would need CT scan of the brain. TMJ, temporal arteritis and trigeminal neuralgia too should be investigated. Consult a good neurologist and rule out these possibilities. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Differentials will be a migraine headache, trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, carotidynia and tension headaches. Trigeminal neuralgia is associated with a severe pain over the temples, the cheeks ,and over the jaw.The pain may be debilitating and may be aggravated by light touch , brushing the teeth or combing your hair. Carotidynia may be pain over the neck and temples. There are a few types and they may be due to an underlying viral infection.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering for 2-1/2 years with oral facial pain. It began on the left and is now bilateral. I get severe, constant pain in the upper gums, teeth, cheeks, temples, jaws, neck. At times there are sharp twinges, but mostly it is a deep, constant ache. I have had close to pain-free moments, but just when i think I'm cured, it flares up. I have had 2 diagnosis. TMJ with osteoarthritis of the jaw joints and cervical spine. The other diagnosis is from a neurologist.
Avatar f tn For those of you with trigeminal neuralgia, would you mind me asking you what it feels like? I have been assuming, for a while, that what I have in my face is bilateral trigeminal neurlagia. But, perhaps I'm wrong.
Avatar f tn Hi, Sorry to read about your pains. There's something you may want to look into called 'trigeminal neuralgia'. It is a neuropathic disorder characterized by episodes of intense pain in the face. Originating in one or both of the trigeminal nerves, this pain may be felt in any or all of the following: the ear, eye, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, left index finger, teeth, or jaw on one side and alongside of the face.
Avatar n tn Each of the surgical techniques employed has some degree of success (not 100%) and attempts to reduce pain signals generated by the trigeminal nerve, which transmits painful sensation from the face (hence the term trigeminal neuralgia). First, there is a procedure called glycerol rhizotomy, whereby the surgeon injects glycerol directly into the nerve under x-ray guidance.
Avatar m tn Was she diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia or are you waiting for the Neurologist to confirm? What type of MRI did she have? There is an MRI with TN protocol that specifically is looking for a compression of the nerve. A regular MRI is used to rule out a tumor or MS. My TN manifested first as a tooth ache, then excelarated after a sinus problem. The TN nerve has 3 branches on either side of the face that have sub-branches near the eye, ear, nose, mouth areas.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia yesterday and have been prescribed oxcarbazepine also hydrocodone for pain. I know I can trigger the attacks by movement of my head but I also get attacks by putting various foods in my mouth. I really don't even get a chance to taste them since I go into pain immediately. Do you have a list of triggering foods available?
Avatar m tn I am concerned i have nerve damage in the trigeminal section v1 that is causing type 2 trigeminal neuralgia. i think that constant ache and pain is steming from the trigeminal v1 branch and the "migranes" are actually bouts of intense nerve pain. Also 2 months post injury hands started to have a dull feeling in the last 2 digits (bilateral) ulnar nerve area. it wa a dull feeling that came and went, then turned into constant light numbness that never goes away..
Avatar f tn She said from the pains I was describing (shooting pain around my right eye and into my head, as well as pressure on the sides of my head), that it sounded like trigeminal neuralgia (which is caused by a virus, such as a cold sore). I had an MRI and an MRA, which came back clear, thank god, but that also discredits the trigeminal neuralgia (apparently something would have shown up on the MRA from that). I went for a follow up and told her that I am still feeling really tired.
1475492 tn?1332884167 An interesting aspect is that this form affects both men and women equally and can occur at any age, unlike typical trigeminal neuralgia, which is seen most commonly in women. Though TN and ATN most often present in the fifth decade, cases have been documented as early as infancy. http://en.wikipedia.
