Decadron® (dexamethasone) 4 mg is not the therapeutic equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg. Using the Lexi-Calc corticosteroid conversion formula, the ratio of the 2 would be close to 5:1. So it would take Decadron® (dexamethasone) 16 mg to be approximately the equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg.
If you just want something to add some color, you could try self tanning lotions. But, if it were my child I might take him to another dermatologist for a second opinion. If you are still in the military, I know how difficult "on post or Tri-care" providers can be sometimes. Just be persistent and make demands not requests, it is their job to care of you properly!

I recently recieved Kenalog Injections to treat Alopecia Barbae. I am noticing some hair regrowth, but more than that I am noticing some small dents or dimples in my face from the injections. I was wondering if they are permanent or will they go away in time?

You don't describe your exposure, so I cannot judge your risk from that standpoint.
Your dermatologist is correct: your local corticosteroid injections cannot have any effect on HIV testing. Potent, high dose immunosuppressive drugs, including ora high dose corticosteroids, in theory can delay conversion of HIV antibody tests to positive. (I stress "in theory".

My doctor decided to treat me with a Kenalog shot in the rear, Triamcinolone Acetonide cream applied to all affected areas twice daily. He also took a punch biopsy above my right breast, making sure that no sinister thing was going on. He mentioned that he was concerned that perhaps it could be a very early appearance of CTCL. Didn't tell me what that was. I looked it up.
I have eczema all my 40 years life and recommend decadron or kenalog shot every 6m-1yr to get on track. I use fragrance free dove soap, limit handwriting by using FF wipes, FF detergents, limit chemical/haired animal/synthetic materials as much as possible. Use cotton sheets and bleach and change them every other day. Shampoo i use is suave FF baby shampoo. I have a big 1 pound tub of triamcinolone .1% ointment but rarely need it since I lotion after shower with Curel fragrance free.
Has anyone else ever experianced this and how long does it take for the kenalog to dissolve. My vision in that eye was around 20/40 and it was believed that the kenalog could get my vision closer to 20/20. Which I was thrilled to hear but now I can not even see the eye chart.I will see my retina specialist next week. Thank you for your help.
Immediately after Kenalog injection in one eye to treat CME after cataract surgery, I had 2 types of floaters. Bear in mind that everyone is different. I described mine, which did go away, as huge black tangled ropes hanging from the top and swaying (looked like I was going through a car wash) and thousands of black dots/specs flying around (looked like the universe). Dr. responded that it was from the shot and would go away; I was very relieved..
ask dr for seasonal kenalog shot, triamcinolone acetonide , it is a steroid that takes a few days to work so u time it for the worst season and lasts about 3 to 4 months,

I take a shot every 90 days for them. The injection is kenalog. 40mg, 1cc. Since moving here from california I can not find a doctor that gives this shot. I have actually had a few say they never heard of kenalog used for allergies. Hard to believe since its in opening paragraph for kenalog under google search. Does anyone live in illinois and know where I can get this shot.
I can not sleep due to constant congestion in my sinuses. So hard to live and work in this condition.
I feel fine, a bit tired, but I have a seven month old :). On the days I work, I am pretty wiped out by the time I get home, but my off days I feel normal. I've always been a person who is sensitive to the cold, but I am quite thin. If anything, I am a bit of a hyper person, always cleaning, doing laundry, etc. That is all pretty normal for me. I am inclined to recheck levels again in a few weeks along with a full panel of bloodwork, and see if the abnormalities are repeatable.
I recently received the Kenalog injection and had a reaction (month later) i've never had an irregular menstrual cycle and after the injection i've had a second one in one month. i've had slight dizziness and elevated headaches.
The over the counter medications such as Claritin and Tylenol allergy were not helping with my allergies and my doctor decided that kenalog was the way to go. it helped with my allergies but i'm afraid of the side effects.
My Dermatogist tried cortisone cream, then oral prednisone, the after some reluctance, kenalog injections. He said he was hesitant about the kenalog because it may cause my skin to thin out. My old doctor in another state had me on Kenalog 80 mg every 3.5 months. I have since moved to another state and brought along my past medical records for my new doctor. He said his program does not provide him with Kenalog and so he put me on Decadron 4 mg every 3 months. It has been a week since he gave me the shot, and my allergies are already starting to return. As the cream is an corticosteriod cream, and it has not helped you at all, then this is not the cream for your condition.
The creams I suggested - Canesten, Canesten HC are used to treat fungal yeast infections.
Could all of this be the result of the kenalog injection or a yeast infection exacerbated by the kenalog injection? Or possibly nerve damage from the kenalog injection? I'm even wondering if it is the diflucan killing off the yeast infection which caused nerve damage throughout the area. It is driving me crazy and I can't eat or work or date or anything. I was convinced it was HSV but every doctor and the blood tests say no.
This last year I needed help for degenerative disc disease and was given caudal blocks (4) and facet injections (8) and all the psoriasis went away. I know that Kenalog was used in the injections. How often can one have an injection of Kenalog? The caudal blocks and the facet injections cost over $35,000.00 when all the different factors were added in.......operating room, anesthesiologist, doctor, medications, etc.
