Avatar n tn However you mentioned that it does not look like a fungal infection and is perhaps an eczema or dermatitis type ailment. Can you please tell me if steroids are usually prescribed for these types of ailments? Will using steroids (triamcinolone or hydrocortisone) assist with symptoms similar to mine or is calamine a better alternative?
Avatar f tn Don't use Triamcinolone anymore if you can help it as overuse can cause real problems. We read about it here all the time because it can thin the skin. I would try Psoriaflora cream or clear 100% aloe vera.
Avatar f tn I'm 19 years old. I've had 3 ringworm outbreaks in less than a year, but I'm still not sure if it's ringworm. It always starts out with 1, 2, or 3 small red bumps. All the bumps have a white head and can be ruptured. If i scratch it or rupture the bumps by applying cream, it spreads. It is itchy, but only sometimes. But it never forms a circle. The bumps itself is in a circular form, but it is just a cluster of small raised bumps, not a ring with a clear center.
Avatar m tn Its used for treating eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and certain other inflammatory skin conditions. Its an anti inflamatory medicine. Herpes is a virus that erupts to the skins surface as sores, blisters, razor type cuts. It wont prevent the virus from surfacing, only antiviral med would inhibit this. As for the sores, they heal by them selves in about a week once the virus dies. The sores scab over and fall off, except inside of the vagina where no scabing takes place.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide cream when i found out that i had eczema. I used it like it said only putting it on my legs (where the majority of my eczema was at the time.) every other day. I only put on a very thin amount because thats what i was told. Soon after finishing my first container of the cream i started noticing my legs were starting to discolor some. Then all of a sudden i started getting thick dark stretch marks on the inner part of my legs.
Avatar f tn Eucerin and aquaphor helped my eczema. I was prescribed triamcinolone, a yellow antibiotic cream that will help. Get a second opinion from another doc to see if you can use it. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I have very mild eyelid eczema (and on my body) that can be virtually cured of any symptoms for months at a time by a light dose of triamcinolone creme used for 2-3 days. For the eyelids, I use a cotton swab to carefully get a little on the problem area. At worst I find the vapor might irritate the eyes if it's too close so I keep them closed for a minute while the medicine drys but other than that there is zero discomfort on the eyes.
Avatar n tn I was told to use Triamcinolone 0.1% Ointment 454gm. This was end of January. After using this ointment for a few weeks it seemed to clear up. That didn't last long. After that it came right back real bad. Is this normal? How can I get this to go away?
Avatar f tn I had eczema on my face for as long as i can remember, my doc perscribed triamcinolone acetonide ointment I have been using this for about 7 years and its the only thing that has worked, now when i try to lean away from it my face breaks out in all types of red burning inflamed hives what can i do to break my skin away from this ointment?
Avatar n tn It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or eczema. You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .
Avatar n tn Hello everyone and thank you in advance for reading my question and posting your responses. On my lower stomach, just above my belt line/ hips on either side of my stomach I have some various brownish patches. I am a caucasian female. These brown patches are light in color and are smooth, not raised. The patches feel rough and dry to touch and occasionally itch. Basically the skin looks discolored and slightly darkened.
Avatar n tn We are currently treating it as eczema and he is on elidel and triamcinolone cream, we have tried tanning beds and bleach baths. No relieve, this has been going since last Nov. The dermatologist wants to put him on methotraxate (sp?) (chemo drug). I am nervous, any advice???? He also has a history of lymes disease a few years ago..any possible connection?????
Avatar f tn t start using any now. This would include Triamcinolone Acetonide ointment, which is commonly prescribed for eczema flare ups. Don't use this one on the backs of your hands, because it is a steroid, too. Vitamin K 1 and vitamin K 2 should also help. Only take the minimum dosages, unless you are getting these from dietary sources, like natto. (Go to mercola.com for more information on all of this. He will also give the correct amount to use.
1292023 tn?1272203010 Hello, Your dermatologist has prescribed the correct treatment as triamcinolone is a topical steroid. But make sure to apply it only for the prescribed time as it is a topical high potency steroid and hence it may cause side effects if used for a long time. You can wear cotton gloves as they absorb sweating which exaggerates the condition. Since eczema is triggered by stress and other allergens, so your perming of the hair and the exposure to chemicals may be the causative factor in your case.
Avatar f tn from then till now its gotten a little bigger (prob the size of a thumb print) he was getting treated for eczema which cheated up with a steroid cream but fit some reason it just won't go away. he does salivate alot but its only that cheek. in the morning sometimes out will look flaky, red, and a little wet. if that makes any sense.
Avatar f tn Since last November I have had a constant itchiness in both ears. The doctor has labelled it as ear eczema and says it's something I have to live with, only being able to treat it when it reaches the infection stage, which it has done twice considering I have a tendency to scratch it. I was originally perscribed an topical ointment which only increased the irritation in my ear. I have also tried over the counter drops for swimmers ear, and they did next to nothing.
Avatar n tn Avoid soaps and use a moisturising soap substitute like dove. If you have severe eczema you will need a very potent steroid like clobetasol propionate for a couple of weeks. Regards Dr.
Avatar n tn thanks for the info. i googled the dyshydrotic eczema that jagesh50 mentioned and the stuff i have on my fingers look exactly the same, but as i said it doesn't itch or hurt i don't think its chronic though.... here a picture of what mine looks like exactly (its not mine, i just found it) http://fromyourdoctor.com/ext/atopic_dermatitis_hands.jpg https://online.epocrates.com/data_dx/reg/91/img/91-1-hlight.
Avatar f tn Sweat dermatitis usually responds to such treatment along with oral antihistamines (OTC ones). For fungal infection many treatment options are there like Clotrimazole 1%, Miconazole nitrate 2%, Tolnaftate 1% and Butenafine hydrochloride 1%. Many OTC products containing these salts are available, your pharmacist can help. Try a combination of two and apply until the itch disappears. If the symptoms persist then get an examination done by a dermatologist and get eczema ruled out.
583092 tn?1218128207 usually a lower-potency steroid is prescribed for sensitive areas. If the eczema is especially severe, a doctor may prescribe prednisone or administer a shot of cortisone or triamcinolone If the eczema is mild, over-the-counter hydrocortisone can be purchased at the local drugstore. If complications include infections (often of Staphylococcus aureus), antibiotics may be employed.
