583092 tn?1218128207 Corticosteroids have traditionally been considered the most effective method of treating severe eczema. Disadvantages of using steroid creams include stretch marks and thinning of the skin. Higher-potency steroid creams must not be used on the face or other areas where the skin is naturally thin; usually a lower-potency steroid is prescribed for sensitive areas.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone and thank you in advance for reading my question and posting your responses. On my lower stomach, just above my belt line/ hips on either side of my stomach I have some various brownish patches. I am a caucasian female. These brown patches are light in color and are smooth, not raised. The patches feel rough and dry to touch and occasionally itch. Basically the skin looks discolored and slightly darkened.
Avatar m tn Hi, To combat the severe dryness associated with eczema, a high-quality, dermatologist approved moisturizer should be used daily. Moisturizers should not have any ingredients that may further aggravate the condition. Moisturizers are especially effective if applied within 5-10 minutes after bathing. Most commercial soaps wash away the oils produced by the skin that normally serve to prevent drying. Using a soap substitute such as aqueous cream helps keep the skin moisturized.
Avatar n tn You can't. The key to battling Endometriosis is excision surgery. The Endo needs to be cut out from the root even if that means digging deep and getting it all out. Doing this will make your chances of it coming back as bad very good and the adhesions wont be as bad if it is done this way. However is laser is done for most of the surgery you are going to end up with the Endo coming back, lots more scar tissue.

Avatar n tn However, this is such a sensitive part of his body I have been very nervous about what I am doing. Any suggestions on treating eczema on this part of the body? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have experienced a mild form of eczema on my lips for some time now. I was treating it with Protopic ointment. It seemed to work for a while, as long as I was using it every day. However my question involves the inner part of my bottom and upper lip. It forms a rough whitish skin that compels me to bite at it or pick at it. Is this rough white skin (that appears to be dead skin by the way) part of the eczema that is affecting the part of my lips on the inside of my mouth?
1656931 tn?1302617825 If this is eczema, it is actually common from what I read for people with eczema to have gluten intolerance. I do have eczema, but I've gotten so much better by avoiding gluten like the plague. And, if it is eczema, allergies do aggravate eczema.
Avatar m tn Hello, A maculopapular rash can be due to eczema or dermatitis also. Eczema is a form of atopic dermatitis. There are certain other non-pharmacological measures which are equally important in treating atopic dermatitis.
Avatar f tn Have you seen a doctor about this? You're treating it as if it's a fungal infection, but you may have eczema, just really dry skin, an allergic reaction, or something else. After 7 years, it's time to see a doctor and get this properly treated. If you've been seeing a doctor who has been treating you like this for 7 years, find a new doctor.

Avatar n tn What kind of doctor has been treating his eczema? Dermatologist can treat the symptoms but not always the cause. I would recommend that he see an allergist that specializes in eczema. Eczema frequently has an allergic cause. Treat the underlying allergy and the eczema clears up. I know some people who have had success with Allergra and Zyrtec. My daughter only has eczema in the winter when she is not out side as much. This may also be related to a low vitamin D level.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently told me that my dandruff was causing my facial eczema and since I started treating my scalp, it went away in both places. Do you have eczema on your stomach maybe?
Avatar m tn ve tried treating it with prescription medication for eczema but it had no impact. The same medicine helps eczema that I have on my foot (which I started getting just about a year ago. I've tried applying Vaseline then wearing gloves. The only thing that sometimes helps is covering it non-stop with band aids so it doesn't get any air, but the band aids are rough on my skin. I've also tried giving up gluten. I'm only 3 weeks into that but it's just spreading more.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed by a dermatologist with eczema / dermatitis of my penis glans. I've been treating with prescribed TCI (Protopic) for approx. 10 months, twice daily. I was not making very good progress over this time. Upon visiting my doctor a week ago he suggested that I switch to a combination of Hydrocortisone 1% & Protopic. I would apply Hydrocortisone in the morning and Protopic in the evening. I did this for one week and made pretty decent progress.
