Travatan and travatan z

Common Questions and Answers about Travatan and travatan z

travatan

Avatar n tn I had surgery and a stent was placed in my right eye. I have been taking Travatan Z drops from June until yesterday (10/13/16). I had an appointment with my eye doctor yesterday and he told me to stop taking the Travatan drops. I have noticed eyelash growth. I have discovered this is a side effect of the drops. Most of what I read says once the drops are discontinued, the eyelash growth is reversible. What does that mean? How is it reversible?
Avatar n tn I have not been cleared by my doctor to discontinue the nightly Travatan Z drop .....The surgeon turns his patients over to a optometrist in the practice for continued cataract care, so I haven't seen my doctor since the surgery. In a few days, I have an appointment with a rheumatologist (new patient) and plan to request corticosteroid shots in two fingers and foot. Do you believe there would be a problem with me having the shots? Or any other rheumatoid arthritis meds? Thank you....
Avatar n tn Over the last 3-4 weeks I have eye pain in one of the eyes, consistent dull ache. I visited my Optho and had eye dilated and checked and everything looks fine. He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?
493068 tn?1224765315 I am on Travatan Z and doing eye scrubs 3x/day. I also had the tear duct plugs again. I did not know they had fallen out. Should I go to another doctor for the surgery. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn What you may be referring to is people with very very mild glaucoma and very little money that are on expensive drops like Lumigan and Travatan Z in some cases with very careful monitoring may be able to use the drops once every two or three days. I think it not a good idea and don't do it in my practice. If there's a money problem I recommend selective laser trabeculoplasty.
Avatar f tn It varies depending on the surgeon and how severe the glaucoma is and what other glaucoma medications the person is on. Some surgeons stop latanoprost and other similiar drugs Lumigan and Travatan Z others don't.
493068 tn?1224765315 of Doxycycline, Erythromycin Ointment at night and during days of extreme pain. I also use Travatan and use Restasis. and yesterday the opthamologist doctor put me on Lotemax. I can see some better today but still have full blown rosacea in both eyes...To live with pain in your eyes you can not escape it. Do you know of anything we are missing? Thnaks again!
493068 tn?1224765315 I have been on and off Doxycyline for over a year and about a week off of it the rosacea comes back worse than ever. I am using erthromycin ointment and Restasis. I use Travatan Z for the glaucoma. I do the lid scrubs religiously because I have chronic blephritis. What are we missing? Thanks you so much!
Avatar m tn You may need switched to Travatan Z which is both stronger and gentler on the eye. The IOP in your eye changes hourly so there is no "safe" IOP.
Avatar m tn L noticed theres a drop called Duotrav which contains timolol and brinzolamide, so l guess it sort of a combination of azarga and travatan . This is a once a day drop, l was wondering if l were to stop taking the azarga and travatan and instead take DUotrav once a day if it would be as effective but with less side effects.
Avatar f tn Part of this is that are very common symptoms on brimonidine In fact in 20% of glaucoma patients on the generic version the medication has to be stopped because of complaints of redness, irritation, pain and discomfort and dry mouth and bad taste in mouth. If you still have it read the package insert that you get when you get a new bottle of medicine. Or go on the internet and read the side effects.
Avatar n tn And the new doctor suggested to use Travatan. Is there any difference between Latanoprost and Travatan?
6218685 tn?1379633270 while all the eye drops in that family (latanoprost, lumigan and travatan-Z can cause dark pigmentation around the eyelids I have never had (of the thousands of patient's I've treated with these medications) or read in the medical journals about the pigment occurring within 5 days. If that is the case one of a kind.
12845664 tn?1427483649 Still though Lumigan is more irritating for most people than latanoprost and Travatan Z. You should also look at how much money you save. Many of the new generics are not that much less expensive than the brand name. Thus you are more likely to have irritated symptoms with the generic than the brand name.
Avatar m tn To add to my eye history, I was diagnosed with floppy eye lid syndrome and due to my eye pressure being high 20(left)/26(right) we did some follow up tests and found some peripheral vision loss so I was also diagnosed with open angle glaucoma and I am trying Travatan in my right eye now. I would like to get your opinion if I should see a neuro opthamologist to further investigate whats wrong with the pupil and/or get second opinion.
Avatar m tn Heart arrhythmia including PVCs is not likely due to Lumigan or the two other medications in that family (Travatan-Z and latanoprost). They are not listed in the drug prescribing literature. I have several thousand patients on these medication and only have one patient in many years that complained of heart beat problems HOWEVER when we changed to a different type of medication (different class of glaucoma medications at present there are 4 classes) the problem stopped.
Avatar n tn He suggested I continue on the drops for a week and then take a break and then take readings and see what happens. I did as asked and found that my pressures were about 19. Stayed off the drops and returned a month later for a check up and found them to be 37. Now I'm back on drops. Is it possible the nasal spray caused this (impossible to get good data) and is it possible it will take some time for it to return to normal? Is this very unlikely?
Avatar n tn I have read that Travatan Z uses a milder preservative compared to Xalatan. In terms of efficacy in lowering IOP, is it as effective as Xalatan? Thanks.
Avatar n tn You can also get the same problem with travatan and xalatan. I suggest you look into SLT laser treatment as a way to reduce the pressure and maybe drop down to just one medication a day hopefully. Then you might be able to use alphagan or trusot/azopt or a beta blocker and avoid the darkening problem.
Avatar n tn Go to www.rxassist.org and log in and put your brand drug name to see if you can get Pharma help, even if you have insurance, in some cases. For example, if you have Medicare and your income/2 is below $29,140, Pfizer will provide the medication for free. The trick is you have to submit a hardship form along w/application. Call them at (800) 707-8990 and tell them you have Medicare and they will send the form with the application. You don't have to be in the coverage gap.
Avatar f tn There are 4 times of glaucoma medications available. In the Xalacom family there are two stronger medications lumigan and Travatan-Z. If you do need glaucoma surgery there are many options and more becoming available all the time they use MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) THEY CAN BE REPEATED IF NECESSARY. There are also several new glaucoma drops in the testing pipeline.
