Common Questions and Answers about Travatan z eye drops

travatan

Avatar n tn I had surgery and a stent was placed in my right eye. I have been taking Travatan Z drops from June until yesterday (10/13/16). I had an appointment with my eye doctor yesterday and he told me to stop taking the Travatan drops. I have noticed eyelash growth. I have discovered this is a side effect of the drops. Most of what I read says once the drops are discontinued, the eyelash growth is reversible. What does that mean? How is it reversible?
493068 tn?1224765315 I use Travatan drops for the glaucoma so is there a difference Travatan Z? I do eye srubs every dayx2 with mild cetaphil soap since I have the inflammatory Rosacea on my face as well. I need relief somehow. My eyes burn all the time. It has been so difficult the last few weeks. I really appreciate you help. Hopefully I spelled correctly. It hurts to look at his screen. btw i also have plugs.
Avatar f tn If you are not on latanoprost or Lumigan or Travatan Z they would be good alternatives also your eye doctor should have discussed glaucoma laser therapy. sometimes laser can be used and you don't need any eye drops. Please act on this.
Avatar m tn You may need switched to Travatan Z which is both stronger and gentler on the eye. The IOP in your eye changes hourly so there is no "safe" IOP.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have found something by accident that has worked for me for the past month. I was jet skiing with some friends and decided to jump off in the water and swim around. I got home and decided to sit in my chair for awhile and watch TV before i went and took a shower. My fiancee came in and gave me a kiss and said man, your face is really clear. I ran into the bathroom and looked in the mirror and she was right, my rosacea was gone.
Avatar m tn Hi l have been taking Azarga eye drops ( Timolol and Brinzolamide0 for 8 years twice a day with not much side effects except some dry eye, but recently it stopped being as effective in lowering the pressure so my eye specialist also put me on Travatan also ( Travoprost ) so l am now taking azarga twice a day and travatan one a day, the additional travatan has been successful in lowering my presssure but taking all these drops making my eyes more dry and slightly sore.
6218685 tn?1379633270 while all the eye drops in that family (latanoprost, lumigan and travatan-Z can cause dark pigmentation around the eyelids I have never had (of the thousands of patient's I've treated with these medications) or read in the medical journals about the pigment occurring within 5 days. If that is the case one of a kind.
709537 tn?1232584855 Hello, My husband is concerned about side effect he is experiencing since starting Travatan eye drops. In the process of diagnosing possible glaucoma He has been prescribed Travatan [travoprost opthalmic solution) 0.004% 1 gtts Left Eye per day. Avatar m tn At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time. I don't think that the active ingredients cause the problem, but what about the Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) that is the preservative in the drops, could that cause the problem? has there been any research done on this?
Avatar n tn I would consider SLT and see how low it gets you in one eye. Might not lower it enough. If not taking a prostaglandin either xalatan or travatan z would be the most effective treatment - just learn to deal with some redness and long eyelashes.
Avatar n tn I have not been cleared by my doctor to discontinue the nightly Travatan Z drop .....The surgeon turns his patients over to a optometrist in the practice for continued cataract care, so I haven't seen my doctor since the surgery. In a few days, I have an appointment with a rheumatologist (new patient) and plan to request corticosteroid shots in two fingers and foot. Do you believe there would be a problem with me having the shots? Or any other rheumatoid arthritis meds? Thank you....
Avatar f tn It varies depending on the surgeon and how severe the glaucoma is and what other glaucoma medications the person is on. Some surgeons stop latanoprost and other similiar drugs Lumigan and Travatan Z others don't.
Avatar m tn t anything wrong with the eye and vision should be 20-20 My current doctor ( after taking web advice to keep trying and not give up ) said I may be having a toxic reaction to my drops . He flushed eyes and discontinued drops and after 4 weeks vision started improving--now in 8 months it is now is a very blurry 20-40 or decent 20-50 . Drug company and current doc both said it happens --- Do think the doc may be right???
Avatar m tn I generally offer one/drop day trial of latanoprost, lumigan or Travatan-Z or SLT. If patient chooses drops and one drop once per day I strongly recommend SLT before adding a second or third drop. The biggest change in glaucoma over the coming years will be putting MIGS device in eye at time of surgery (small drainage valve MIGS = minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) to try and eliminate need for any drops.
Avatar n tn Go to www.rxassist.org and log in and put your brand drug name to see if you can get Pharma help, even if you have insurance, in some cases. For example, if you have Medicare and your income/2 is below $29,140, Pfizer will provide the medication for free. The trick is you have to submit a hardship form along w/application. Call them at (800) 707-8990 and tell them you have Medicare and they will send the form with the application. You don't have to be in the coverage gap.
Avatar f tn I have regular monitoring by Optical coherence tomography and visual field of central 30-2 by threshold program. I was put on Xalacom Eye Drops Solution (Xalacom) after the cataract surgery. The IOP drop a bit but linger around 16 to 18. AZOPTĀ® was then added to my daily eye drop treatment in addition to Xalacom since August 2012. IOP remained 17 to 18 after then.
Avatar m tn I have been using Travatan for a few days which was prescribed for me by an eye surgen. My eye became blood shed (just one, the other is not bad). The manual does say red eye is one of the side effects, but I find it abnormaly red and there is a mild dull pain. Is this normal? Shall I stop using it at least for one eye?
Avatar m tn I am 36 year old caucasian male, near sighted. Around 6/09 I noticed that my eye pupils vary in size with no other symptoms. Earlier that year, 2/09, I was diagnosed with partial vitreous detachment in both eyes but from what I understand it is not relevant and my doctor did not comment on my pupil size so I do not think it was present at the moment ( I was examined before being dilated).
493068 tn?1224765315 My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn The retinal specialist gave 2 very strong drops to reduce the IOP. Subsequent to using the drops he went for a check for IOP and it was 15. Three weeks after continuously using the drops on his next checkup the IOP was back at 27. The retinal specialist seemed to be a loss. He is now recommending a glaucoma specialist. We are not sure what to do.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed as having thick corneas, which produced high pressure reading in my eyes. I have been taking eye drops, which successfully lowered the eye pressure. Do I have to continue to using the drops for the rest of my life? I am 57 yrs old and there is no history of glaucoma in my family. At this time, the doctor wants me to continue to use the drops and have my pressure tested every 6 months. Is this over kill? I have had the field vision test, which was normal.
Avatar m tn I am doing my drops and pain medications as prescribed, but I am keeping the patch on my eye all the time because I am actually afraid to take it off except to put in my drops and change the patch. When should I remove the patch? I thank you for any support and answers to my questions.
Avatar m tn Thanks to eye medications containing benzalconium chloride to which I appear to be allergic, I have a deterioration of vision due to scarring. The visual effect is similar to that caused by keratoconus (see Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kc_simulation.jpg) and for point of light, I see about 5 degraded images (again see Wikipedia http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d7/Kc_simulation2.png/220px-Kc_simulation2.png).
