In my opinion, you need to take oral steroids also (as was prescribed to you earlier). You also need to apply a topical steroid lotion ( such as Luxiq ). Along with these medicines, I would also recommend that you talk to your doctor about a course or oral antibiotics (preferably a Macrolide).

You can try Rogaine. It is an over the counter topical product for hair loss. I can’t guarantee that it will re-grow the hair you have lost. However, it is beneficial in keeping the hair you have and slowing the thinning of your hair. Also, it is more effective in women than in men.

I have tried natural remedies, supplements, topical creams and so on but nothing has ever worked. My doctors have all come up with the explanation that it might be genetic( although everyone in my family has thick hair even when they are in their 70s). Has anyone encountered a similar situation? I feel lost and depressed and terrified that I have done permanent damage with propecia. I went to a urologist and almost broke down in his office. He made me want to scream because he said everything looked ok and my testosterone levels (to him) were normal.
I am wondering if testosterone supplements will be the answer for me. Have you figured out anything else about your problem?
We have good testosterone as well as bad. Drugs such at rogaine and propecia can help with this, but i personally did not do well on propecia. It did weird things to me.
Propecia is a brand name but it is actually Finasteride.
Finasteride (Proscar) is used alone or in combination with another medication (doxazosin [Cardura]) to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH, enlargement of the prostate gland).
Is Rogaine a prescription treatment? If it is you should discuss with the doctor prescribing - any doctor writing a prescription must know all your health issues and other medication.
If not a prescription I'd suggest (same really for a prescription) to look at the side effect listed and available on the "web". If any mention of heart disease is made I'd suggest you either stop using the treatment or discuss further with your doctor.
Help. My wife accidentally took propecia (3 mgs over 2 days) thinking it was something else. We are planning on having kids soon. Can there be consequences to a future pregnancy from this mistake? How long will the propecia stay in her body?
Hi, Doctor, I've had extremely oily hair with dandruff since a couple years ago (not sure if this was caused by my overuse on conditioner), I also have thinning hair on center line now. (i have seen my doctor a few time, I have done a hormone imbalance test, and the result was Negative. So, my balanced hormone really did not give me this oily scalp and hair loss really.
m on propecia...however, my doctor (being pretty cool), prescribed me 5mg Finasteride (i.e. Propecia). I split the pills in half, which is pretty close to the dosage for Propecia. The bottle lasts me two months, and costs me $5 because finasteride is covered on my insurance. I'm 28 years old, soooo....the insurance company DID need my doctor to verify the prescription. But like I said, he is cool :) See if your doc will hook you up the same!

About three months ago I started taking propecia because I thought my hair was falling out too young. I experienced several side effects from the drug including total loss of sex drive, difficulty maintaining erections, loss of spontaneous erections/morning erections. I stopped taking propecia within 3 weeks due to an inability to deal with these side effects. Things seemed to be slowly getting slightly better as the weeks and months progressed however now some new issues have been arising.
