Common Questions and Answers about Tiotropium puff

spiriva

Avatar m tn I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn If from the lungs, you could be experiencing Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) withdrawal symptoms, depending on what type of lung problem was being treated with the Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder). These symptoms, along with your arms feeling weak and heavy, could all be due to anxiety, but could also be symptoms of more serious disease of the heart or lungs. For that reason, you do need to see your doctor to sort this out.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar f tn Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) has a maximum duration of action of about 36 hours. To be safe, you would want to be off the medicine for 48 to 72 hours before the spirometry. It would have been preferable, but not mandatory to do the pulmonary function tests (PFTs) at the time the diagnosis of chronic lung disease was made especially if the diagnosis was unequivocal. The other important question would be, “Why 3 CT scans, presumably of your lungs, in 16 months?
Avatar m tn Cause of low DLCO and drop in it from test 1 to test 1? I am currently on tiotropium bromide and salmeterol/fluticasone propionate. My reason for posting this is one doc is pessimistic and the other highly optimistic. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Spiriva contains tiotropium bromide which is an anticholinergic bronchodilator. So, yes, both have action against acetylcholine recptors and both are efefctive bronchodilators. You can take any one of them. Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist. So, it gives bronchodialation for a much longer time. It is a more recent drug so long term efficacy data are not available. However, available data does show a marked benefit in individuals with COPD.
Avatar m tn Today i took my son ( 15 years old) to eye doc for a yearly eye examination. Doctor did a Air puff test. My son told me that something like a air jet came into his eye and he was affraid. After that he feels his eye is kind of watery. Is that test a safe test? Do you think that force of air can put huge pressure on eye and can cause any problem. Thank you very much.
242912 tn?1660619837 I had a tiny little slip a few days ago, but was able to pull myself together after a puff. Crushed it out and crushed up all the rest into dust. If you should slip, please don't take it as a sign of failure but rather a lesson and pick up where you left off. Just remember, Never Take Another Puff!
653496 tn?1238313609 m craving cigarettes! Just the smell sometimes. But, I actually want just one puff off one. I want to stay healthy whether I'm pregnant or not. I have asthma. I officially start back TTC in July. But if we get pregnant now, that's awesome too. Some days I can't even stand the thought of cigarettes but the next I want to smell and taste the first puff. ARGH! What should I do? How did you TTC Ladies & Mother's stop smoking and STAY off...and fight the cravings?
Avatar m tn I just got back from a routine eye exam, at a optometrist, they used a eye pressure test with the puff machine where you rest your head on. My L eye was 20 and R eye was 22, I was already very nervous/scared before they did the pressure. She said she wasn't concerned at all, as quote ''you also have quite thick corneas'' and stressed I shouldn't be alarmed. But I am, I'm so worried? I'm going to go see a ophthalmologist, but until then should I be concerned.

Avatar m tn I'm a 23 year old guy, I posted on here 3 years ago (Dr John Hagan might remember). It started 3 years ago at a annual eye check up, my eye-pressure on a puff-test measured 21-22. This sparked a 3 year chain of ''worrying over glaucoma''. I then preceded to a retinal specialist whos 'assistant' with a puff-test (99% sure it was a 'tono-pen puff tester), which measured 27-27!
Avatar m tn I recently posted about how my pressure was between 20-25 (25 being read with a hand-hied puff and 20 being a machine puff test). Haven't relieved goldmann yet. My cornea thickness is around 585 from what I heard. My ophthalmologist seems to have no concern as it's only a little bit higher but considering the circumstances/cornea/health/age (I'm 21). He has refereed me to a specialist in this area in a month but doesn't think it's a emergency.
Avatar n tn Yesterday it started to harden around the area and puff up her lip and chin. I squeezed it and some puss came out. Now the puffing is starting to puff around her cheek. What could have done this to her?

Avatar n tn i'm using salbutamol since long not much severe using average 2 puff daily. But now i have to take the puff very frequently with in 1-2 hour what should i do ?
757137 tn?1347196453 The ones that are not used up immediately keep binding as soon as a site is available and that is how you get the sustained broncho-dilatory effect after each puff. Once most molecules are used up, you need the second puff dose. Also, any remaining molecules will be absorbed in mucus and expectorated out with cough or taken up by the body’s immune cleaning system. Hope this helps. Take care!
