Avatar m tn I take Spiriva Respimat (tiotropium bromide) 2.5 mcg/actuation, and Wixela (fluticasone propionate salmeterol inhalation powder) for my COPD. Is there a sequence I should be taking these meds in? Is there a time frame I should use between the two meds?
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn If from the lungs, you could be experiencing Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) withdrawal symptoms, depending on what type of lung problem was being treated with the Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder). These symptoms, along with your arms feeling weak and heavy, could all be due to anxiety, but could also be symptoms of more serious disease of the heart or lungs. For that reason, you do need to see your doctor to sort this out.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar f tn Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) has a maximum duration of action of about 36 hours. To be safe, you would want to be off the medicine for 48 to 72 hours before the spirometry. It would have been preferable, but not mandatory to do the pulmonary function tests (PFTs) at the time the diagnosis of chronic lung disease was made especially if the diagnosis was unequivocal. The other important question would be, “Why 3 CT scans, presumably of your lungs, in 16 months?
Avatar m tn Cause of low DLCO and drop in it from test 1 to test 1? I am currently on tiotropium bromide and salmeterol/fluticasone propionate. My reason for posting this is one doc is pessimistic and the other highly optimistic. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Spiriva contains tiotropium bromide which is an anticholinergic bronchodilator. So, yes, both have action against acetylcholine recptors and both are efefctive bronchodilators. You can take any one of them. Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist. So, it gives bronchodialation for a much longer time. It is a more recent drug so long term efficacy data are not available. However, available data does show a marked benefit in individuals with COPD.
1481176 tn?1291392092 I just found out that my neurologist has prescribed pyridostigmine bromide (Mestinon) for my orthostatic hypotension and is having it mailed to me. Has anyone else used this and with what results?
Avatar f tn I spent about 20 minutes in our newly aquired hot tub last week without realizing the Bromide level was extremely high. The next day my genitals (female) felt burned and swollen, and I soon discovered large blisters inside and out down there! My rectum also hurts- probably similar to hemiroids. The blisters are very sore and I'm actually having trouble going to the bathroom. I have tried epsom salt soaks, silvadine cream, nystatin powder, and Aquaphor ointment. Nothing seems to be helping...
Avatar m tn t find a workable dosage of phenobartibal, you might want to ask your vet about either Dilantin, Valium, potassium bromide, felbamate, or a different type of anti-seizure medicine that can be used in conjunction with potassium bromide and/or phenobarbital together called Zonisamide. Zonisamide is totally unrelated to any of the other anticonvulsants, but, like Keppra, the full extent of its side effects is not yet known so to some vets, it is somewhat controversial to prescribe it.
Avatar f tn s own, most vets will move on and add Potassium Bromide to the mix. My dog is on this as well. From what I understand, the Potassium Bromide helps to absorb the medicine better, and most dogs do not take just Potassium Bromide alone, but in conjunction with other anti-convulsants.
2030686 tn?1351688548 Does anybody know what the early classifications were before hep c? He was born in 1966 and contracted hep b as a child. Is it possible that he had hep c and they just didn't know about it yet? I assume I got the hep c either from him or other people we "partied with". I never used needles but he had so I just assume he had hep c as well. I just don't understand how I could have one and not the other.

1431003 tn?1283341073 from 1998 American Heart Association Classification of Stroke Outcome Task Force has worked to develop a valid and reliable global classification system that accurately summarizes the neurological impairments, disabilities, and handicaps that occur after stroke.
Avatar f tn The World Health Organization is responsible for applied codes relating to disease/illness. This is defined for classification of a recognized disease/illness, used by physicians and for deciding disabilities. In 1992 FMS held the classification of: Rheumatism, unspecified. In 2009 they developed another International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD 10-CM), which will be implemented in 2013.

Avatar f tn I realized his quality of life suffered too much on standard drugs of first phenobarbital and then also K-Bromide, (trying to switch to K-Bromide) and sought treatment with Chinese herbs. I gradually lessened the doses of standard drugs until I could stop giving those before starting Chinese herbs. Though I am discovering most of these Chinese herbs were not exactly for seizures, the holistic vet prescribed several different herbs and combinations between April and December.
Avatar m tn While the likelihood is as Ghilly has mentioned (that a brain tumor may be causing neurological symptoms), it is certainly worth raising this with your vet. Instead of raising the phenobarbital, it may be worth adding potassium bromide, which acts to improve the actions of the primary anticonvulsant drug.
