Avatar n tn This episode I think is maybe because my brain is lacking the essensial ingridient, glucose! They usually only happen in the morning, sometimes they pass and I put them down to a bad dream but other times I physically get up and go on a hysterical rampage through the house, sometimes I hurt myself. I am I feel out of glucose but not energy. My partner I live with does not have the strength to hold me down to take a blood sample.
12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...
Avatar f tn They used to being little children with no cares in the world, being supervised at all times, and feeling like the center of attention, to now wanting more independence, people having bigger expectations of them, and having responsibilities like chores, schoolwork, social relationships, and manners. The world suddenly seems big and confusing and contradictory and that can be hard to deal with, it requires developing a whole new set of skills.
Avatar m tn In my humble opinion, she is having some kind of psychotic episode. I have googled extensively and have found very little information with regards to helping a BP sufferer during non treatment. I am cautious in my approach to communicating this to my sister as I am aware of the potential upset it could cause... SO... Does anyone know how I could suggest treatment without causing a major issue and a breakdown in relationship?? PS.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else like this and what can be done. And which the psychotic features am I on my way to having a breakdown of some sorts?
Avatar f tn I've recently been told that I have bipolar so I'm new to all this. I'm still recovering from an episode where I was psychotic. I'm still learning about the illness and I'm full of questions. Will I ever lead a normal life? Do I have to take medication forever? Will I be able to get a job? Should I tell people?
5051252 tn?1362970368 What you are experiencing is in the class of neurological events called (loosely) a psychotic episode. I have them, too, but mine are very mild... I just see some shadows that aren't there sometimes. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible, to rule out things like your brain not receiving enough oxygen, blood work to rule out any danger of diabetes or low blood counts, things of that sort.
1256303 tn?1291752568 Because of the need for 2 weeks of psychosis in the absence of a mood episode for the schizoaffective diagnosis, it can take quite a while to get a definitive answer, since some people are in mood episodes almost constantly.

Avatar f tn He has Bipolar Disorder w/ psychotic features. He has gone into psychosis many times, and is extremely paranoid. After reading the Bipolar Child I see that he has been bipolar his whole life, and has only been diagnosed 3 months ago. When he is manic he drinks heavily basically all day everyday, and it is almost as if he is on psychedelic drugs.
Avatar m tn I focused on getting more stable, found as many forms of support and accountability as I could, and truly worked with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to change my MO and perceptions of myself and the world I live in. The only way I have been able to make my neighbors not fear me, because I do think I scared some people, is to live in stability for awhile and prove through my actions that I am doing better.
Avatar f tn I think the first step here is to take a step back and think about what psychosis is. First off, when you are psychotic you are not "making things up" although the things you are talking about, etc. are not true. A psychotic episode is one in which you lose touch with reality. That means you are actually seeing / hearing / believing things that are not real, but you absolutely and 100% see them, hear them, believe them.
Avatar m tn The only form of depression that can cause psychotic episodes, is Bi-polar Depressive Disorder but typical clinical depression that can result from severe anxiety, is not in the psychosis category
1044813 tn?1370494406 Hello all, I would like to request the addition of Seroquel (quetiapine) which is an anti-psychotic to the mood tracker. Seroquel is very commonly prescribed for the treatment of both manic and depressive episodes of bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn Anais Townsend, Gia Townsend, or Topanga Townsend (if anyone has seen boy meets world youve heard of this first name) ..
723341 tn?1232338253 In 1999 I believe that may have had a true manic episode as opposed to a hypomanic episode. This was a mild episode compared to what many other people have; nonetheless, this was the one that finally caught my attention and along with the following crushing depression, caused me to finally seek help. I did all kinds of stuff that I won't go into detail about.
Avatar f tn I had identical concerns and the lie my son posted on facebook was posted while with friends who could out him. I'm sure if we compared notes they would be very imaginative and very colourful I'm told that a lot of teenagers go through this but i spoke to my son's doctor anyway, the fantasy /lies were not small or limited to home but i'm reassured that rather than another sympton of his illness .
Avatar m tn My daughter had her first 'break' about 10 years ago and recovered quite well from it. However, the second one in 09' ... it 'changed' her and she hasn't been herself since. This last time she was diagnosed with schizoaffective behavior. She became somewhat violent when we went to her apartment to check on her. We took her directly to the ER. It is quite a long process to get adult committed. We sat back in the ER for approx.
1360950 tn?1277656603 I am not in an episode and have had hallucinations very rarely, I do not understand why I must take a mood stabilizer and an antiphyscotic? How do they differ?
Avatar n tn The first time I had a phantom smell it was amonia and it lasted about 3 weeks. My phantom smell is Raid? Any ideas?
899491 tn?1243773627 She kept telling one lady that I was having problems with my mother in ill health. The lady always mentioned the gossiper all the time like we were big buddies. My mother is getting old and I expect certain illnesses will affect her but I felt it was over done by the gossiper. And I felt it was overly done. I don't like people putting their own spin on things to suit their needs. Some people do live through other people.
987762 tn?1671273328 Again he became compliant with his treatment, got a job, saying all the right things etc paranoid delusions about others are still there and he is promising just about anything to get her back. The only thing he will acknowledge is the drugs caused the psychotic episodes, he says he has a drug addiction and he belives if he doesn't do it again he wont have any psychotic episodes.
230948 tn?1235844329 Hi Thats really interseting that you had a psychotic episode and was on fentanol patches as i was the parkinson drug before and then the dr put me on fentanol patches which took away the pain, she put down the episode to the miripexin (parkinson drug) and the acupan (pain killer) that he had put me on and never suggested the patches could be down to it, but it was the newest and nearest drug that i was put on to the episode and i think it could be this as i still have really bad vivid dreams a
