Avatar f tn Hi. Your husband's testosterone was low, and normally they give testosterone shots for this, or I should say "you" would be giving your husband the shots. But he can also have the nurse at his doctor's office give them to him. It's good that he saw an Endo, and he/she really can't comment until his test results come back. At this time she will have lots to discuss with you.
486867 tn?1307139011 Ask about Nolvadex it is stronger and might not have the same side effects. What was his testosterone level? Were you guys able to get pregnant ever? My level was 379 and I am worried. I saw an endocrinologist and am awaiting a more complete retest of my hormones. I actually got my wife pregnant last year but she miscarried. I don't mean to be nosy, but I might be in a similar situation soon.

Avatar m tn The cause of low testosterone has to be found out and treated. The various causes include side effects of drugs, testicular dysfunction, and raised adrenal hormone cortisol. Problems such as chronic illness (mumps in childhood which damaged testis), aging (not in your case), starvation, head injury, surgeries in testicular area, cancers, infections, and alcoholism are also among the causes of low testosterone levels. Chronic use of steroids can cause a decrease in testosterone level.
650419 tn?1281359937 I have low testosterone from being on a pain pump implant for almost 7 years and I'm currently on Androgel but the side effect is that it keeps me up all night long like insomnia. I have been living this way for 4 months. I can't go to sleep until 4 or 5 am every morning. If I were to switch to the shots or the pellets would that rid me of the current side effects that I'm suffering from?
Avatar m tn Regarding the prostate and heart, while your dad is in the hospital, these should be checked (unless there are records of the urologist doing a scrupulous job of doing so). Testosterone is not known for big side effects (and, incidentally, is not known to either cause or increase depression), but there can be some slight elevations in things that affect the heart or prostate.
Avatar m tn Hi I am getting Testosterone shots for my low testosterone level. I am currently going to get 0.25ML (50mg) intramuscularly once a week. My Testosterone is around 272, I am 21 years old. How long will it take to raise my testosterone levels and will this dosage increase it to my normal range which would be anywhere between 500-700. I would really like to know because I think this is a very low dose. I was considering asking my doctor to move up to 100mg a week instead, what do you guys think?
Avatar n tn Hi there, Thank you for writing to us here, though I am sorry that you are struggling with side effects from the result of breast cancer medication. I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience. However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.
Avatar n tn Getting on the Testosterone therapy has many cautions and seems a bit intimidating...both from a side effects standpoint, and from a long term, life long need perspective. Any experiences out there with this issue post-tx? Hey Jim, are you still around eyeballing this place from time to time? Copyman?? any others that have had direct experience with the low T???

Avatar f tn The theoretical goal of such treatment would be to raise free testosterone levels while monitoring for adverse androgenic effects such as acne, hirsutism or deepening voice.
Avatar n tn He said that he would not recommend testosterone because too many side effects. A testosterone level of 305 being low for me makes sense to me. When I was 22, I participated in a research study at school....and one of the things they measured was testosterone levels. At this time my testosterone level was in the high 400's. He gave me a urology referral. Can propecia be the cause?, 2) Although testosterone level of 305 is normal on the charts....can it be abnormal for me?
Avatar f tn With men, the issue of concern is testosterone deficiency, while with women the concern is excess testosterone production. So no problem indicated there. Not sure why the doctor ran the FSH test for you at age 73. There is room to increase your thyroid med but in the absence of other symptoms I'd be hard pressed to say that an increase is what you need. By the way, what dosage of Armour are you taking daily?
Avatar f tn Is there anything we can do to ease the side effects.........The high fever was the most difficult to bare for my hubby after the shot......Thanks in advance to u all for giving wonderful suggestions always.......
Avatar m tn Ok, a bit youg but give DHEA a try, but please read up about it before you go on it as it can have some funny side effects with some people, this will boost you up all round your sexual levals, start low 25mg day and work it up to what you think is best for you, you can also back this up with Tribulus again it covers most of the same things, but DHEA is a hormon booster, they are both over the counter things to buy or you can get them from PP or amazon.
Avatar m tn If your testosterone level is normal and you take testosterone then it can have the adverse effects. But if your testosterone is low, taking the needed testosterone shots will only take it to the normal range where it should be and no more. Your level will be checked regularly and the amount of testosterone you'll be taking is adjusted accordingly to keep if from going high or low.
Avatar m tn 3 months ago cancer returned, am on lupron shots every 4 months...want to ask how other sexually active males are dealing with sex life, if any...my sex drive has lost its transmission!...
2030686 tn?1351688548 Chills, body aches, fever or flu like symptoms are all normal side effects of interferon. High doses of vicodin means you're getting a high dose of acetaminophen which can be very liver unfriendly. Those with hepc should not exceed 2000 mg of acetaminophen daily. If you must use pain management drugs for an existing condition perhaps you should talk to your doctor about prescribing something without acetaminophen such as a low dose oxycodone or Tramadol.
Avatar n tn my husband has been getting testosterone shots and his doctor has stopped giving him the shots. He has been having bad sweats at different times during the day or night. Could this be due to the fact that he no longer is getting the shots?
1281181 tn?1271688273 Some tests she may want to have include Testosterone, Free Testosterone, DHEA-S, and Estradiol. B12 deficiency can also imact hair. Also, for Ferritin, note that it needs to be 40+ regardless of ref range; you can have low Ferritin w/ normal Iron so make sure it's Ferritin they check. If she's on meds, the meds can cause hair loss; so can the change in TSH level and being at a suboptimal TSH.
Avatar m tn Baldness can be one of the most disturbing side effects of excess testosterone or its derivatives, as testosterone is converted by an enzyme (5-alpha-reductase) into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is much more powerful than testosterone and commonly contributes to hair loss. Of course, there are other much simpler explanations and treatments for sexual dysfunction. For instance, one important factor that is very often overlooked by experts is the loss of sensitivity in the skin of the penis.
