Avatar n tn The main findings were that for reduced fungus, terbinafine was found to be significantly better than itraconazole and griseofulvin, and terbinafine was better tolerated than itraconazole. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis What you have read is correct. You could discuss this finding with your doctor and get him to prescribe it for you. Since the treatment is long-term it is better to go with onr which is tolerated better by the body.
1652119 tn?1301725969 and apparently it is darker on the perimeter.I am giving it a therapeutic trial diagnosis of taking Terbinafine Tablets(250 mg) for 4 weeks. I am just into therapy having finished 3 days (3 tabs of 250 mg).......no visible difference so far.... Any comments / suggestions ?
Avatar m tn I can understand your concern for these symptoms and from the description of your symptoms and the positive response to oral antifungals, it looks like the etiology is fungal in nature. It is less likely to be eczema which responds to oral steroids. In new eczema, the affected skin appears red and elevated with small blisters which break and the affected skin will weep and ooze. In older eczema, chronic eczema, the blisters are less prominent and the skin is thickened, elevated, and scaling.
Avatar m tn All my symptoms point to Black Piedra and I was in Chennai India for 10 days but that was 2 years ago. No fungal treatment over the last 3 months is working. My head has been shaved for 2 months but the black crust keeps growing out covering the hair from inside the follicle. When my hair was longer it felt like grains of sand but nothing would ever fall out.
Avatar n tn miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn My husband and I going through the exact same thing. I've had about 20ish spots all over my body, that seems to fade but not entirely go away (For a month and a week, going on two weeks) Although I started Oral Meds late, I'm on day 6 of Terbinafine. I've been taking it day by day. Who would have thought Ringworm would suck so bad :(. We ended up getting it from 2 rescue kittens. They seem to kind of fade, but I can still see them.

Avatar m tn i have gone to a dertermologist and they have said it was a fungus growing on my arm and put me on Terbinafine. well i have been on this for almost two months and have seen no improvement and it is still getting worse. i kind of think it is ring worm but i have been putting lamisil on it but that has not helped either. i am going to a new doctor about it soon but i would like opinions on it.
Avatar f tn Ive had 2 biopsy not cancer. Dr thinking fungus . I was on antibiotics and am currently taking Terbinafine 250mg and Ketoconazole 200mg pill and cream and wash . I recently had a tooth pulled and gum filled with puss. maybe that was hindering my healing. so frustrated and worried.
Avatar n tn that contained either miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole or clotrimazole. My pharmicist recommended clotrimazole as the best of those five and it IS working. The red rash has faded to practically clear,no itching at all. It's inexpensive and has taken only about two weeks to this point. It may work in your case as well.
Avatar n tn Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral.
Avatar f tn While they are going down with OTC creams and Natural Remedies (Apple Cider Vinegar + Tea tree oil) I ended up going on Terbinafine because it seems like these things are at a standstill. So I have a few questions: ***Skin that isn't even affected by ringworm is VERY ITCHY. Is this normal? ***I've never had a more serious case of ringworm before. Is it ok to be putting lotion on my skin now? ***Skin that wasn't affected by any lesions is peeling off. Again is this normal?
Avatar f tn I have used terbinafine cream for a week and my fungal infection almost went away.but after a week i started oral fluconazole with terbinafine cream.after few days again some fungal infection came...is it the side effect of fluconazole. ???
1712311 tn?1308397237 I went to the doctor, and he said it was a yeast infection. Prescribed me Terbinafine 250mg tablets, and Nystatin and Trimacinolone Acetonide cream. This has not helped one bit, and I am starting to get really anxious about it. Not only do I have these spots all over my body, but they leave white spots from my tan when they go away. So I have tons of red spots, and tons of white tan spots everywhere. Please help me, its summer time and I would really like to go swimming with my friends.
Avatar f tn FYI, terbinafine is Lamisil cream. Terbinafine is the generic name. Otherwise, you will have to see a doctor.

Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
