Avatar f tn You may have to use the Ketoconazole shampoo for a long time ( such as 6 weeks for it to work). Some fungi are resistant to it so you may want to try Terbinafine shampoo or pills. But I would read some of the posts below. They may be helpful. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Topical Terbinafine cream did not help doctor is treating with Ketoconazole 2% shampoo and topical Clindamycin 1%. I may be noticing a 10% increase in my normal gray follicles at two weeks treatment. I would love to send a picture.

Avatar n tn I have been to the doctors and he told me I have a skin fungus and to us Selson Shampoo, I have used the shampoo for a month every day, now I use it once a week for about 5-10 mins drying on my skin. The white spots don't seem to be going at all, now I have a bit of a tan they seem to be worse than ever. Do they ever go or even fade a little, I don't want to waste the doctors time again or do I need to get something else a little stronger. Please help.

Avatar m tn miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. Selsun shampoo should help. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
687194 tn?1244811182 I have to constantly wipe my clothing off. I color my hair but have for years. I have not changed my shampoo or hair products at all. Can someone tell me about a remedy that will help...I will try just about anything!
Avatar m tn s Foot cream / medicine (capsules I cannot remember name of - but 1 per day for 14 days), using Diprosone ointment for +2 weeks, Selenium Sulphide shampoo for 2 weeks (covered affected areas, allowed to dry for 1 hr and then showered off before putting on the Diprosone ointment). It is still there - mainly two areas on my chest on which I am now using Betadine. Is this time span normal. I have assumed I could infect others and I keep away from groups of people.
Avatar n tn I need to know if i should be alarmed, and what steps i should take to head this problem off. I have been using garnier fructis shampoo and the conditioner as well. I haven't noticed my hair thinning, but i feel like it is only a matter of time.
Avatar n tn I have had seborrheic dermatitis since I was a kid. I saw a doctor when it first showed up around my nose, and HIV has never ever been mentioned. It's just a type of dermatitis, not really that different from dandruff. It's very common. I just wash my hair with head and shoulders brand intensive treatment shampoo and it clears up my face just fine. I don't even need to use it daily, just during outbreaks.
Avatar f tn Treatment options include application of selenium sulfide, pyrithione zinc or ketoconazole-containing shampoos, topical ketoconazole cream or terbinafine solution, topical sodium sulfacetamide and topical corticosteroids. Avatar n tn and do not share other people’s towels.Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. If even after treatment the rash persists then it has to be differentiated from eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis and parasitic infestations Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and NizoralYou can also use selsun shampoo on these white patches. If the symptoms persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. Other possibilities have to be ruled out then. I suggest you a dermatologist’s examination to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps.

Avatar n tn i wash my head it is itchy, even when it is dry it is itchy. and yes i rinse, rinse, rinse out the shampoo & conditioner thoroughly. also my hair falls out when i wash my head, but when my hair is dry i don't have hair falling out.
Avatar n tn Hello, about 5 or 6 weeks ago I was washing my hair when I noticed that it seemed like it was getting greasier and there were no suds. I accidentally used conditioner instead of shampoo, so i rinsed and washed with shampoo. After that I started to get a couple small areas of dead skin layering on my head.
Avatar f tn ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine ( I have tried these 4 drugs in oral and topical form) I have also tried selsun shampoo and all of these have failed. I was wondering if there was anymore hope for me? Is there anymore antifungal pill I can take? Due to my rash not responding well to 3 azole antifungals does this mean it won't respond to any of the other azole antifungals? And are there anyother antifungal that are effective that arnt azole? P.
Avatar m tn I had tinea versicolor on my chest and abdomen. My treatment remedie was to lather on an anti-dantruff shampoo (Pert Plus w/Zinc) and leave it on overnight for 5 nights. On the 5th morning, I woke up with an extreme reddness and skin cracks. So I stopped. It's been 5 weeks since and the tinea versicolor (white spots) seem to disappear but Im left with botches of reddness all over my body. Some are darker than others, but none the less it looks horrible.
Avatar n tn I began using intensive treatment shampoo and have been free from itchy lesions since, yet the area is still a large red patch. The area doesn't seem to be active with symptoms (not raised, itchy, scaly or dry) yet the pigmentation remains constantly. It is not storkbite or an inherited pigment problem as it appeared when the dermatitis symptoms arose. Is it possible that this is tinea versicolor as a result of a fungal infection after the scratching?
Avatar n tn It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis, which is an inflammatory version of dandruff. I have it in my eyebrows -- it's white and flaky, with no redness until recently, and it started off in one part of one eyebrow, and then it spread. Now recently it has spread to my entire eyebrow. I've tried a lot of things. Using Nizoral shampoo once a day seems to help a little. I also take the following supplements: evening primrose oil, multivitamins, cod liver oil, and sometimes, probiotics.
Avatar m tn Tinea Versicolor...thats what you have. You can treat this with antifungal creams or shampoo. Recommend use for 2 weeks then if problem continues see your docter for perscription antifungal pills.
Avatar m tn t work i started to see some of these bumps that the color is red and when they heel they peel from center it is not raised and no liquid inside just like a patch so i called my doc in my home he prescribed for me lotriderme creme and nizoral shampoo and nizoral tablets and aerius tablets, so when i started the treatment the one they are between my legs has gone the old one on my stomach and my hand also are gone but new ones start to appear in different places , under my armpit under my stomach
Avatar n tn Then later my doctor had referred me to one of the dermatologist in my area, who told me to use an anti-dandruff shampoo HEAD&SHOULDER classic clean and a prescribed expensive ketoconazole shampoo 2%,so sometimes i alternate them. Though I do tend to used the prescribed shampoo more, since it seems to help reduce the itching and oil. However, the problems are still there!
