Avatar f tn About a month ago, I ended up catching ringworm from 2 new kittens my husband and I took in during Christmas. Each of us have about 20 spots each. My Husband got all of his at once, I "Broke out" for 3 weeks. While they are going down with OTC creams and Natural Remedies (Apple Cider Vinegar + Tea tree oil) I ended up going on Terbinafine because it seems like these things are at a standstill. So I have a few questions: ***Skin that isn't even affected by ringworm is VERY ITCHY.
Avatar f tn LJ, the best thing to do to find what would help the most from OTC med, is to ask the pharmacist. They know by the ingredients.
Avatar f tn Sweat dermatitis usually responds to such treatment along with oral antihistamines (OTC ones). For fungal infection many treatment options are there like Clotrimazole 1%, Miconazole nitrate 2%, Tolnaftate 1% and Butenafine hydrochloride 1%. Many OTC products containing these salts are available, your pharmacist can help. Try a combination of two and apply until the itch disappears. If the symptoms persist then get an examination done by a dermatologist and get eczema ruled out.
Avatar n tn Now the rash has spread to both inner thighs, below my navel and buttock areas. The rash is dark in color and very itchy especially at night. Is there anything i can use otc or is it better to find a dermatologist? This rash started about six months ago and has not gotten better.
Avatar n tn I also see tiny pimples sprout up around the area. I am currently using OTC terbinafine, but the itchy and crawly feelings persist. Neosporin stops the itch immediately but some itching returns after a few hours. I have had ringworm in the past and it never lasted this long or gave me this much trouble. I'm suspecting that what I have may be bacterial rather than fungal, but I don't know how to explain those initial round lesions I had. I'm very confused and still very itchy.
Avatar m tn I have had this weird semi-whitish spot on the head of my penis for weeks now. So I did some research and I think it might be a penis ringworm. Its not an STD because I'm a virgin. I dont' play sports but I exercise in the gym 3 days a week. And at one time I had to pee all the time but it stopped about 2 and a half weeks ago. So I tried lotirmin ultra with 1% butenafine hydrochloride for a week and a half but I didn't notice any change. So now I have limasil with 1% Terbinafine.
Avatar m tn t have insurance) and she had supposedly diagnosed the problem as ringworm by looking at it, I finished my 2 weeks of an oral Terbinafine prescription, and during the last 2 days of the Terbinafine I started to get an itchy back, 2 sections of my lower back (on the right and left hand side) started to itch, I fought it and never scratched it and woke up today for the rash to be about 5x the size they were the previous evening.
Avatar m tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar n tn The main findings were that for reduced fungus, terbinafine was found to be significantly better than itraconazole and griseofulvin, and terbinafine was better tolerated than itraconazole. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis What you have read is correct. You could discuss this finding with your doctor and get him to prescribe it for you. Since the treatment is long-term it is better to go with onr which is tolerated better by the body.
Avatar m tn Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription. Avatar n tn I've had my first outbreak of Eczema at 32 years old (Male) and it started out as athlete's foot and now is diagnosed by my doctor as Eczema. It was on my toes for four months and last week it started on my ankle, noe I'm getting little bumps on my hands. I've been on burrow's solution, oral terbinafine tablets, anti-histamines and a foot cream for the eczema. It's very slowly getting better but winter is coming and I soon won't be able to open shoes for the cold.

Avatar n tn About 2 years ago, after a long day of walking, the skin around my groin in the folds broke out in super-itchy, inflamed red rashes. I used OTC hydrocortisone cream, and the problem subsided significantly. However, ever since, I've had a permenant rash running up the exact middle of my skin folds where the leg meets the groin area - probably about 5 inches long right in the middle of the leg crease.

Avatar n tn My doctor told me that I have a genetic predisposition to ringworm. I have fought this unfriendly fungus off and on for over 10 years. (43/F) I have taken Griseofluvan, Diflucan, and tried every topical cream, oil, and alternative remedy I can find. I took Griseofluvan for over 4 months with no improvement, and quit the treatment because of the toxic effects. The doctor said there was nothing she could do, that it was systematic, and I would never get rid of it.
Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
