Avatar m tn Hello, For fungal infection, firstly you have to use the topical antifungal therapy. The oral antifungal therapy is not without side effects and is available by prescription. For that a dermatologist needs to be consulted. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnose with a skin fungus infection (dermamytocosis) and the dermatologist has prescribed Lamisil (terbinafine hydrochloride) very strong tablets with quite a few side effects. I would like to try natural alternatives like apple cider vinegar but could the infection spread out or perhaps can resolved by itself over time. Will I be prone to get fungus infections in the future?
Avatar n tn Im going exactly throught tha same type of Skin problem and just on my 5th days on Terbinafine but concerned about the side effects it can have on my liver...even if they are rare it is still concerning and I dont want to continue on the medication if it not going to be a fungul skin infection. My Patch started as a small red mark on my stomach areas and grew about 6" x 3 ..pretty large but I have no symptoms, no rash.
Avatar n tn The main findings were that for reduced fungus, terbinafine was found to be significantly better than itraconazole and griseofulvin, and terbinafine was better tolerated than itraconazole. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis What you have read is correct. You could discuss this finding with your doctor and get him to prescribe it for you. Since the treatment is long-term it is better to go with onr which is tolerated better by the body.

Avatar m tn It started of by the small toe nail and spreading to every toe. I saw my GP and was put on Terbinafine and it stopped spreading but my toes remained black. I stopped taking the drugs because it could harm my liver function and I cannot be taking the drug all my life. The discolouring is spreading to other toes, it is embarrassing. What else can i do or use. I have noticed people living in malaysia having discoloured toenails (black), but they seem to except it and not embarrassed by it.

Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
Avatar m tn Side effects to inflammation may include temporary hair loss. If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition.

I've had about 20ish spots all over my body, that seems to fade but not entirely go away (For a month and a week, going on two weeks) Although I started Oral Meds late, I'm on day 6 of Terbinafine.
