temodar radiation

My husband has had 27 radiation treatments, then 11 rounds of Temodar 1 1/2 years later for a recurrence of the tumor. The tumor recurred in the 11th round of the chemo and he had Gamma Knife surgery (Aug. 2009). Now the tumor has recurred a third time and they are trying Temodar again. What other treatment options would you consider at this point?

My daughter is 3 weeks into radiation/Temodar and so far they have not prescribed any steroids. She is beginning to lose some hair the last couple days but it isn't like they described. They told her it would be patches in the area she is being treated but thus far, it is random strands and with long hair hard to know where it is exactly coming from.

I am a 4 year AA survivor that had a craniotomy and proton radiation. Proton radiation treatment is targeted therapy that does not harm the good brain tissue. I’m told that gamma knife radiation is similar to proton radiation since I am aware that there are not many proton radiation treatment centers. I chose to live out of state for 6 months and I am still cancer free today with no regrowth and stable MRI’s.

He had one resectioned and treated with radiation in 2004. In early February his doctor discovered that there are numerous lesions on his spinal cord (again). They removed a large tumor about 2 weeks ago that was threatening his spinal cord, and a few smaller ones while they were "in there". The doctors are reccommending radiation (again) but because of the number and location of the tumors, the radiation will need to be very aggressive.

A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.

Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.

s interpretation of this report is that your father has had a lot of radiation. The radiation has had a lot of side effects now - and they are showing up on the MRI. He has some necrosis - dead tissue. There is some calcification - hardening. He has some edema. The white matter changes can often be attributed to stroke but here they are saying it is radiation. He has no evidence of stroke.

One thing I can tell you is beware of certain chemos, like temodar , it can cause lukemia in people with NF, and radiation is also a no go for people with NF. Good luck.

ve now been through radiation and temodar, consults with Dr. Prados at UCSF. The tumor was still growing at last month's MRI. Now I'm on IV chemo, Avastin and cpt 11. Next MRI is in a week and we''ll see. I'm so scared. I'm married, no kids, love my husband and can't bear having to say goodbye to him and all my beloved friends. I don't know how to run my house any more.

The doctors at the reputable renowned hospital in Chicago claimed to have never seen a tumor this large in an adult. He received radiation and chemo for six weeks and remained on temodar for almost 18 months. The last ten percent of his tumor (near the brainstem but according to images not infiltrating into) did shrink a bit during treatment and has remained “dormant”. This all sounds amazing but he seems to be getting worse.

Great that its he has no cancer. So how much radiation was given to him. I am worried of the radiation side affects for cancer for a normal CT scan on head and neck. I had twice one in 2018 and one in 2019.

I don't think it will be a problem.

As far as radiation okcwell they say that about cellphones but idk wen its to close jus by hold it in yur bag or jus putting it directly on yur tummy ?

Hi. I know I don't post much, but wanted to ask question about radiation. What are the benefits of whole brain radiation over stereotactic, gamma and proton? I have asked my doctor but I guess I just am not understanding because I thought others are more precise, but they are doing whole brain. Thank you.

Has anyone or known anyone who DID NOT go to radiation after their lumpectomy? I already had my chemo. I was marked yesterday, and I don't know why, if my margins are clear, why should I go through with it.Even the radiologist says, it isn't going to prolong anything. I think I am just gettting tired from the whole "cancer journey".

I have started with RT yesterday. I took my second radiation and have got nausea. Will it increase as i keep taking radiation or does it remain the same as the day pass by. i have 26 days of RT left.thanks.

The Oncologist is correct; Radiation is always recommended after lumpectomy, clean margins or not. Some do work thru radiation but it always causes some fatigue and it doesn't stop as soon as radiation is finished. It would depend on what type of work you do and how often your treatments are scheduled. I'm just basing this on what pt.s have told me; no personal experience here. Good Luck .....

The dye would be virtually out of your body within a couple of days and it's normal to feel a bit tired for about a week after the procedure. I would give it a few more days and if things don't improve, notify your cardiologist. Has your medication been changed at all?

I have started radiation to my sacrum and femurs this week. I pray it will help with my pain.My onc said prob 6 mo to live. (God only knows this) Breast cancer has spread to bones, liver and lungs. Anyone ever had radiation to the pelvis? I start a week of radiation to the tumors in the pelvis and lymph nodes on Monday. I've been having a fair bit of pain and the area is quite swollen so I'm hoping so much that it improves by this time next week. Any experiences or thoughts?

If I put my phone on my belly can it cause radiation and hurt my baby? My mom told me it did and I got scared so I stopped putting my phone on my belly so the baby could hear music or listen to audible books.
