We know the tumor is in a slightly different area than it was originally. He is in treatment (Temodar for the second time) for the third recurrence of his tumor. We have always been told it is in an area where surgery has not been an option. The oncologist does say he believes it is a higher grade. We think he believes it is glioblastoma but he won't say that definitely without doing another biopsy.
A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.
Is it protocol for a doctor to tell a cataract patient that the iol they will be putting in their eye does not focus at different depths like the natural lens does?
Patient made decision to treat his anaplastic astrocytoma with surgery and Temodar only. No radiation! What is the prognosis for this 33 yr.old male.
Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
Does anyone have insight as to what the protocol for Harvoni will be in terms of frequency of GI/Hepatologist visits suggested, and the kind of and amount of labwork suggested over the 12 or 24 week period?
Also I have seen that a few people have already been approved, are others getting approved yet? Has anyone been turned away or asked to wait for any period of time?
Several posts have mentioned MRI protocol. Does this refer to the way the MRI is conducted or the way it is read? Both of my MRIs were done because of possible strokes or TIAs. Would this be different than an MRI if MS was suspected???
just purchased a book titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia Fatigue", and in it the author (Dr. R. Paul St. Amand, M.D.) mentions a protocol that he himself uses, and that he also tells all of his fibro patients to try. It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear.
I have been taking the antifibrotic protocol used by several members here for about 3 months now, and have found that my LFTs have gone up on two consecutive blood workups (at about 4 weeks and 10 weeks). Whereas my ALT, AST have been generally around 60 before starting this, they are now both over 100, and the GGTP that usually hovers around 70 is at 299.
I am confused as to what is the best protocol. One endo wants to give me Thyrogen and did not mention a body scan. The other wants me to go hypo. What to do?
The problem is high dose radio-iodine. If this is a standard thyrogen protocol with a 4 mCi dose of I-131 then there is little restriction. If it is a high dose of I-131, then you would need restriction and should discuss this with the physician giving the I-131. If high dose, I usually tell patients 5-7 days away from small children.
the emerging STAT protocols for HepC tx? what about virus sophistication and resistance-building?
