Temodar length of treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Temodar length of treatment

temodar

Avatar f tn My husband has had 27 radiation treatments, then 11 rounds of Temodar 1 1/2 years later for a recurrence of the tumor. The tumor recurred in the 11th round of the chemo and he had Gamma Knife surgery (Aug. 2009). Now the tumor has recurred a third time and they are trying Temodar again. What other treatment options would you consider at this point?
1515784 tn?1387197290 So, my 25 year old daughter was diagnosed with an anaplastic (grade 3) astrocytoma. She had a surgical resection near the end of November and is currently in her third week of Proton Therapy and chemo with Temodar. Her tumor was in the right temporal lobe and the remaining tumor they couldn't remove (about 10 percent they said) is on her right insula. Hoping to chat with other people in the same boat as her. What if any side effects did you incur on Proton therapy?
Avatar m tn There are very good antipsycotics to help ease the symptoms you have described. I have read a few posts where people have experienced your type of problems as well. Treatment for hepc is very very difficult for some and no two people are effected exactly the same. I hope in time you find a solution that benefits you long term.
Avatar m tn Triple medication treatment of Interferon, Ribavirin, and a Protease Inhibitor (either Teleprvir or Boceprevir) are now the standard of care for treatment of Genotype 1. The length of treatment depends on your past response to treatment. I am not sure in which country you live and if the new protease inhibitors are available where you live. If they are available then it would be important to discuss treating with the triple medication regimen with your doctor.
1394098 tn?1385960134 With Incivek, treatment duration for naives and relapsers with an *RVR* or undetected at week 4 and 12 is 24 weeks. All others including cirrhotics, null and partial responders are advised to treat 48 weeks With Victrelis, treatment duration for naives who are undetected at week 8 and 24 treat is 28 weeks. Previous partial responders or relapsers undetected at week 8 and 24 treat for 36 weeks.
Avatar m tn Co has been subpoenaed by the US Department of Justice as part of a criminal investigation into marketing practices for three prescription medicines. The products in question are Temodar (temozolomide) for brain cancer and hepatitis C and cancer drugs PegIntron (pegylated interferon alfa-2b) and Intron A (interferon alfa-2b), according to Merck's just-published quarterly report. All three of the drugs were acquired when Merck bought Schering-Plough in 2009.
Avatar f tn I’m told that gamma knife radiation is similar to proton radiation since I am aware that there are not many proton radiation treatment centers. I chose to live out of state for 6 months and I am still cancer free today with no regrowth and stable MRI’s.
Avatar f tn A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.
Avatar n tn Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
Avatar f tn As far as treatment duration with Incivek in the Illuminate trial a (study included 540 HCV genotype. 1 treatment-naïve patients) the aim of the study was to find out if there was added benefit in extending the total treatment duration from 24 weeks to 48 weeks. Based on the data there was no benefit seen in extending the treatment duration from 24 to 48 weeks. The stats are easy enough to follow in this link: http://tinyurl.com/clah489 It is read only.
Avatar f tn How long is your LP (luteal phase)? If it's below 12 days then shorter cycles may be a problem. Also, I heard someone mention on this forum that if you O too early you may be releasing the egg that's not yet mature. So, it's not the length of your cycle that's important but rather the timing of ovulation. If you O in the middle you are OK and your LP should be around 12 days. Otherwise, your LP may be too short or you O too early. I hope this helps....
1752948 tn?1466354161 When you read the part (further down) on length of treatment, you will see the results of the studies. In the one study that included Cirrhotics, there was no statistically significant difference in SVR for Cirrhotics versus Non-cirrhotics. "There was no difference in SVR12 in those with cirrhosis (97%) versus those without cirrhosis (98%)" The study included 16% with Cirrhosis (which would be 138 people with Cirrhosis).
Avatar n tn My wife had 90% of a grade 2 diffuse astrocytoma removed from deep within her left temporal lobe 6/16/04. Chemotherapy with Temodar followed for 1 year. Since then, MRIs show no further tumor growth. Partial seizures are somewhat controlled by 2500mg of Keppra each day For the last several months the seizures are more frequent, but not more severe. They are causing loss of sleep. Other problems are short term memory loss, lack of concentration, and confusion.
Avatar m tn I would assume from the date of treatment. Does apple cider vinegar really work? Have yet to try it. I just have very small ones that can only be seen under light. Aldara doesn't do anything to them. I've been taking papillex which is a herbal supplement that helps boost your immune system to specifically fight off hpv. Your suppose to use at least 3 months to see results. I'm still on month one. I really just cannot wait until this awful disease goes away.
2025701 tn?1328919633 Are you seeing a hepatologist? Some people here have had GIs treat them who really haven't been as on top of it as a good liver doctor. Perhaps your doctor wants you to do the longer treatment because of your cirrhosis. Treatment can't be done in later stages of cirrhosis. Then you are looking at a liver transplant. In response to how damaging these meds can be you can look at the long list of possible side effects and easily get scared.
4705307 tn?1447970322 Riba boosts the success rate of treatment, but that does not mean it extends the half life of Interferon. As noted in my pot above above, there is nothing in the 3 articles I linked to that says anything about Riba increasing the half life of Interferon.
1524669 tn?1291423170 Are you asking what types of food are good to help nausea, or what types of food are good with the medicine, or what types of food are good to help xxx? The question is not clear to me. Also, you are asking other patients like yourself - have you asked the guidance of your doctor?
794236 tn?1238016706 We are very interested in any other courses of treatment that anyone may know of. There is also the possibility of another surgery on a tumor located at the base of his spine, but it is entangled in nerves and risky.
Avatar n tn There is no 10 week treatment. Length of treatment comes from your genotype and your early or late response to the treatment. Most genotype 1's must treat a minimum of 48 weeks and geno 2 & 3 treats for 26 weeks.
1752948 tn?1466354161 ION-1 investigated length of treatment (12 weeks vs 24 weeks) and the need for RBV. Sustained virologic response at 12 weeks (SVR12) was 97% to 99% across all arms, with no difference in SVR based on length of treatment, use of RBV, or HCV genotype 1 subtype. Sixteen percent of subjects enrolled were classified as having cirrhosis. There was no difference in SVR12 in those with cirrhosis (97%) versus those without cirrhosis (98%).
Avatar n tn The severity of the difference would also be dependant on the length of your Herceptin treatment. Oncologists monitor these side effects very closely and I'm sure your Onc. will take this into consideration and discuss the risks of continuing your treatment. The longer the treatment the less the incidence of heart damage but each case is different. Regards ....
