Common Questions and Answers about Temodar carcinoid

temodar

Avatar f tn We know the tumor is in a slightly different area than it was originally. He is in treatment (Temodar for the second time) for the third recurrence of his tumor. We have always been told it is in an area where surgery has not been an option. The oncologist does say he believes it is a higher grade. We think he believes it is glioblastoma but he won't say that definitely without doing another biopsy.
1515784 tn?1387197290 She had a surgical resection near the end of November and is currently in her third week of Proton Therapy and chemo with Temodar. Her tumor was in the right temporal lobe and the remaining tumor they couldn't remove (about 10 percent they said) is on her right insula. Hoping to chat with other people in the same boat as her. What if any side effects did you incur on Proton therapy? Did everyone who had proton therapy to their brain have to be on a steroid? Did anyone NOT lose hair.
Avatar f tn If the results show that it is just carcinoid polyps in the stomach and no sign of carcinoid syndrome, would the gastroenterologist have to remove them one at a time. So far he has removed one and did a biopsy on the other which showed it also was carcinoid. He also said there was a "garden of them growing in the stomach" Not sure if they are carcinoid yet. I would like them all removed.
Avatar f tn My question is whether a suspected rectal carcinoid tumor would be easily identified by just looking at it or would it require suspicion and special pathology biopsy tests to confirm or rule out a carcinoid.
186737 tn?1269884660 What can cause impaired left ventricular relaxation in a 40 year female who is thin, not diabetic, and not hypertensive? She has EDS and POTs, and symptoms of carcinoid syndrome, but octreotide scan showed no carcinoid tumors. A subtotal colectomy that was done about 4 months ago psthology found a carcinoid tumor just under 1 cm in size. Her pulse and BP vary greatly between standing and lying down. Standing pulse is ~150-180 and when supine sometimes is ~ 40-50.
Avatar m tn I had a benign carcinoid tumor removed from my intestine. Approximately 41/2 ft of intestine was removed. Is/was this tumor cancerous? I am applying for another life insurance policy. One of the questions is did you ever have cancer? I want to be forth-right.
Avatar n tn m worried about carcinoid syndrome. The symptoms of flushing usually occur within 20 minutes of waking up and being overheated and go away with claritin and a shower. Any info is greatly appreciated! I've been terrified of carcinoid syndrome!
891073 tn?1241213305 Fallout, please do yourself a favor and seek out someone who 'deals' with carcinoid as a specialty and see them now. If the condition is carcinoid you can't afford to allow the doctors you're dealing with at this point to sit and 'debate' about is it or isn't it. You need to be very aggreassive about the situation. Please don't wait another day.
Avatar n tn The chances that it may carcinoid is still there. Inquire if the images are suspicious for carcinoid. Other possibilities are primary liver cancer, stromal tumors, infectious nodules, malformations. The blood may be able to gauge if it is primary liver cancer, but it cannot really say that it is not. Urine tests may not really contribute to the nature of the lesions found. Unfortunately, that's all I can really say about this with this information.
Avatar f tn I am beside myself wrrying that they are missing carcinoid somewhere. I was told by a carcinoid patient that all her tests came back normal and she indeed had a lung carcinoid. I think it's really important for everyone with symptoms or an elevated blood marker to keep looking and push for more tests. What other tests have you other posters had for this? I would be interested to know. I am relly in need of answers as my quality of life has changed so dramatically.
Avatar f tn My husband just had his colonscopy & they found a carcinoid tumor in his small intestines. Hes having all the tests to see if it spread. Does anyone have any experience with this? they said its slow growing so I guess thats good.
398942 tn?1201253379 s Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors for 8 years. Why the flusg=hing all of a sudden over the last 8 months? Well, If I have a carcinoid that is secreting Serotonin, and I am taking Serotonin Anxiety meds, to me that equals Serotonin Syndrome on top of the Carcinoid. Too much or lack of serotonin can cause all kinds of serious problems. Fatigue, anxiety, tremors, dizziness, diarrhea etc,. Out of all of the visits to the doctor and the Cardiologist, why can't someone give me any relief.
Avatar f tn This serotonin deposit may be a the key generator of some nodules in lungs which is called bronchial carcinoid adenoma. It can also be presented as Carcinoid syndrome, known clasically, which is a very important and frequent complication of colon cancer. It may be presented as symptoms like asthma, chest pain, dyspnea, wheezing, weight loss, for which you have been admitted into hospital.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. We're really sorry you've been through this and are left trying to figure this out to overcome your symptoms. Typically if your symptoms would be due to carcinoid syndrome , you'd have advanced carcinoid tumors. Tumors that are advanced are the ones that cause symptoms that you describe. That they are not showing does make you wonder if carcinoid syndrome is the reason.
Avatar f tn To Hannahmoo and others - The latest is that a year ago I developed diarrhea on and off with all stool tests normal. Dr. Warner says he still doesn't think it's carcinoid. For 2 or 3 months now I've had no major flushing or real diarrhea, but just got back a third CgA test result. First two (over a year ago) were normal but just within upper range. This one is not normal. The range is 0 - 5 and my level is 6. I'm waiting to hear from Dr. Warner.
Avatar f tn Everything removed during this surgery (ommentum, ovaries, uterus and tubes showed clear apart from the borderline cyst on the one ovary) During this surgery the surgeon also removed my appendix. They found a carcinoid tumour at the tip. It was 11mm in size and infiltrated the mesoappendix by 3mm. Does this mean it is mallignant? I'm waiting for a CT scan next week to check if there is any other tumours lurking around.
Avatar f tn My 62 yr old brother in law just a carcinoid (sp?) removed from the small intestine. Dr. has told him it will take the biopsy at least a week to get results and the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. No treatment was mentioned. ANY information is appreciated.
Avatar f tn //my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/14783-carcinoid-tumors-of-the-lungs Please note that these are very rarer with only 1 to 2 percent of the population having this happen. The blood marker test is just one test and I would imagine your doctor will follow up with additional testing. Please let us know how that goes. Please keep in touch with us so we can support you. All the best.
1524669 tn?1291423170 HI, I AM WITH OLIGODENDROGLIOMA,, NOW ON CHEMOTHERAPY-TEMODAR 350MG.
Avatar m tn Sorry, I seem to misunderstand you. What is a carcinoid? And the one under my armpit is about the size of a kidney bean. How big is hers?
Avatar f tn hi, yes your situation does relate to gerd, although with the added total body inflammation, caused by a certain food that your consuming, which irritates your digestive system, also some medications cause chronic infections in your digestive system, half an hour to two hours after meals is when your stomach starts secreting acid to digest the food, so its a clue as to when your symptoms begin, try ruling out such items as dairy, breads and sharp foods like seeds and crackers to see how your sy
Avatar f tn The doctor ordered me a heart MRI, which is scheduled in two weeks. The doctor is suspecting it to be carcinoid. Any idea?
