Avatar f tn Prograf is a medicine that slows down the bodys immune system. For this reason, it works as an anti-rejection medicine. Prograf helps patients who have had a liver/kidney transplant protect their new organ and prevent it from being rejected by the body. This medicine can cause the amount of potassium in your blood-stream to increase.
Avatar f tn It all means you have damaged your liver! Alcohol and many drugs including those OTC are damaging to the liver. If you drink alcohol, quit for a month or so and your enzymes should return to normal. But be warned - increased enzymes means your lifestyle is damaging you and if you revert back to that lifestyle, more damage will occur. Don't freak out, just listen to the message and do something about it. Your liver has a tremendous ability to heal itself given a chance to do so.
Avatar f tn ve heard you can have normal bloods and have symptoms tho also just the fact that I was told I have a fatty liver and have all these symptoms indicating a more severe form of liver disease shouldn't that be a cause for concern?
484482 tn?1319378880 My level is 38 what that means I dont know as gp was in hurry!!! Refused to take 30mg of Carbinamazole with dodgy liver and long history of adverse drug reactions. Taking 10 to start and might increase if no side effects. Going to look at alternative meds though so all info appreciated.
2131142 tn?1335648576 After the hysterectomy, CT and ultrasound showed 3 spots on liver and because they did not grow, doc said that it was endometriosis in the liver. Since then I have been diagnosed with NA Fatty Liver disease. I am now 57 and having abdominal swelling, stomach pain, nausea, upset stomach after eating (and can only eat very small meals and very bland). I am wondering do I need those 3 "spots" on my liver rechecked.
Avatar m tn Also in one of the ultrasounds the liver was noted to be borderline enlarged and there was queation as to a 1cm liver mass (it is not clear to be if there was for sure or not). I had an MRI which stated that the liver was normal and a tiny hypodense focus noted in the gallbladder - likely a polyp as per the ultrasound. My questions are: 1. is it a concern that the number of polyps are increasing or were there perhaps always several but very small? they do not apper to be growing in size.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome. Sorry but I don't have any answers for you. This sounds like a question that only a qualified dr that works with the liver, etc can answer. I do know that there is a lot of natural support out there for the liver that a lot of drs even recommend. One of them would be a liver detox that includes milk thistle in it. Or something that is labeled for liver support. Everything we eat and consume affects our liver including meds.
Avatar m tn s half right - the liver itself has no nerve endings-or very few, but the sac it resides in sure does. When the liver swells, pressure is applied to that sack - and then one can feel pain.
Avatar f tn I am a 33 year old male who is a very heavy drinker and has had a past addiction to pain meds. I am very concerned about my liver. I had elevated enzymes last year and I have continued to drink heavily everyday since. I am not jaundice but I have abdomen discomfort and I have lowered appetite along with occasional nausea. I am trying to quit drinking but having a tough time. What is my outlook and should I consult a physician about my liver concerns?
Avatar m tn Alcohol has been shown to worsen the course of many liver diseases. Since alcohol is a potential toxin to the liver, people with any type of liver disease should refrain from drinking alcohol." Note, the "any type of liver disease" which I take to mean: (HCV & (Stage != 0) ) == NO alcohol Wow has that ever been stated here before?
Avatar n tn Hi there. I think its great that you are on an addiction recovery forum looking for answers concerning your son and his unfortunate addiction. However i have to say first that there is absolutely no connection between a responsibly dosed (even an irresponsibly dosed) methadone patient and compromised liver function. I dont know why your son has told you this since it simply isn't true.
Avatar m tn Last month my AST level was at 59 and my ALT was at 95 in my liver. I go to hear the results of my blood work from yesterday today at 2 and I wonder how high the readings are now. My worry is at what level should I start freaking out??
Avatar m tn Is this possible? Can a sluggish liver cause hyperacidity and intolerance to certain substances? Has anybody ever experienced something like this? Someone even told me that it was lack of stomach acidity that was the problem. Not an excess of it. That person told me to start taking Apple Cider Vinager. Which I haven't done yet. Anyway, to my chagrin, I've added alcohol to my list of forbidden stuff for now. So that's basically it.
Avatar f tn But an infection within your biliary system can cause both the fever along with liver blood profile elevations (slightly high direct bilirubin and liver enezymes). Please see your doctor for a followup for your bloodwork. Nothing alarming, but something needs addition testing and/or ultrasound imaging.
Avatar n tn what does it mean you have an enlarged liver and gallbladder?
Avatar m tn in case you also carry hbv you can amplify results of this study in any case acool takes you closer to death if you carry hbv and liver damage, i bet you even don t know your liver damage in germany they have a free bus with a fibroscan turning around healthy population because people think they are healthy so they are able to find all the damaged livers from alcool and fat
4173379 tn?1355356551 Hi there, in hemochromatosis, the degree of iron accumulation in all organs, joints, tissues, not just the liver, leading to many other diseases like diabetes and cirrhosis and heart failure, determines the outcome. A person's life expectancy depends on detection and treatment of the iron overload...when not detected in early stages to prevent further damage and disease life expectancy is greatly reduced. Cirrhosis is only one of the complications/results of iron overload.
Avatar n tn Sometimes gas in stomach is really cost me dizzy and pain at chest, liver area and back too. Please let me know any suggestion for me? Thanks for your help!
Avatar n tn Sarcoid is a rare cause of hypothyroidism. It can also infiltrate the liver. However fatty liver can cause same lab problems and is associated with high triglycerides.
