tekturna

Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
973741 tn?1342342773 Summarizing the findings - To examine the impact of untreated ADHD on academic outcomes,, the authors considered studies comparing outcomes for youth with untreated ADHD to those without ADHD. Outcomes were considered 'poorer' when results for youth with untreated ADHD were significantly worse; When no significant difference was found, outcomes were considered 'similar'.
Avatar m tn The reason there are not too many studies on the outcomes is obviously the length of time required. We HepBers want the inference to be true, of course.
Avatar f tn Writers of Science Fiction warned through many stories of possible outcomes of robots taking over when feeling/thinking they are superior to flesh beings. Makes us think .....incredible how they were able to make computers to process info. faster than us...however, one interesting footnote, I realize: If God chooses to give insight to a human being to bypass those zillions of calculations ....it is a done deal. Done in a split second of a person being willing to listen and obey.
Avatar f tn I appreciate your effort to share information. The article indicates that potassium level is a PREDICTOR of poor outcomes in HBV-related decompensated cirrhosis patients. It did not say that a high potassium level causes poor outcomes. It seems to me that a cirrhotic patient with a high potassium level indicates that cirrhosis is worst. Does eating bananas good or bad for you?
1551655 tn?1294260921 A series of recent studies from academic researchers and the Institute of Medicine (IOM),have highlighted the poor outcomes of a salty diet... Get the Americans shake the salt habit!! Know the reasons why?
Avatar m tn A retrospective analysis of 2 pivotal studies of TDF was conducted to assess whether cirrhotic patients had different clinical outcomes than non-cirrhotic patients. In these studies, the safety and efficacy of TDF compared to adefovir was assessed for 48 weeks in HBeAg negative (Study 0102) and HBeAg positive (Study 0103) patients, followed by open-label TDF treatment. Results: A total of 634 subjects were included. Cirrhotics had outcomes comparable to non-cirrhotics (see tables).
Avatar f tn I would not base much on the responses from your poll here - it's simply not a large enough sample size. If you look up the Mangia and Von Wagner studies on shortened treatment for RVRs you'll get some good data on GT 3a RVR with 16 weeks and with 24 weeks total tx. FWIW - I was 3a, stage 4, RVR and SVR'd with 26 weeks and weight based riba. With full compliance my docs told me I was at 90+ percent odds at 26 weeks.
Avatar f tn However, there is a drug specifically aimed to target Her2+ cancer, this drug is called Herceptin. Studies have shown that this drug either given alone or in combination with other chemotherapy drugs can decrease the chance of recurrence and eventually improve treatment outcomes. Another drug approved for those who failed Herceptin is Lapatinib (Tykerb). Regards...
Avatar f tn There is some information that the virus can cross the placenta and affect the baby, but not all babies are affected in this way. The information about outcomes is also scarce: some studies have suggested the possibility of increased developmental problems while other studies do not confirm this. The most important thing at this point is that your Obstetrician will be following you and your baby very carefully to see if anything develops that is concerning.
Avatar m tn Independent studies show that all three definitive treatments for prostate cancer have overall, similar survival outcomes. However, as I mentioned, functional outcomes can vary widely and but are associated with the specific nature of the patients disease and surgeon experience. Results of prospective trials comparing the treatment options should hopefully be published in the coming year or two. These results should provide more insight into your question.
Avatar n tn [10,11] Although there is a large multicenter French trial underway currently,[12] there is a dearth of published studies showing actual improved outcomes. At the very least, FLACS does not seem to have inferior outcomes to traditional cataract surgery once the initial learning curve is mastered.[ ... The literature does show a significantly higher cost for FLACS.
Avatar m tn There is no conclusive evidence at present to indicate the usefulness of hyperbaric oxygen in stroke patients. More research is needed and more studies need to be done to prove its usefulness in improving the outcomes after stroke. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1722607 tn?1335747858 I have been given 5 studies to choose from. They are all different and Im feeling a little overwhelmed. How should I choose? What questions should I ask?
Avatar n tn The consequences of treating with medication or an interventional procedure (stent or by-pass) has the same long-term outcomes. Meaning intervention does not increase longivity. The COURAGE study has made that conclusion based on long-term studies and follow up.
Avatar n tn For example, the body naturally produces formaldehyde in beneficial quantities, but taking too much could lead to adverse outcomes. Phosphatidylserine isn't indicated for curing sleep difficulties and, in fact, can lead to sleep difficulties. It can also interfere with some other medications: https://www.webmd.
938718 tn?1323783514 As is recommended for other persons who are treated, antiviral treatment with zanamivir or oseltamivir should be initiated as soon as possible after the onset of influenza symptoms, with benefits expected to be greatest if started within 48 hours of onset based on date from studies of seasonal influenza. However, some data from studies on seasonal influenza indicate benefit for hospitalized patients even if treatment is started more than 48 hours after onset.
Avatar f tn I never advise a pt. to do much internet surfing ..... there is so much information out there that only applies in one or two cases. I think you would be well advised to discuss your concerns about "mammosite" with your Radiation Oncologist in detail. I'm quite sure that in certain instances there may be complications just as in every form of Medical Treatment.
Avatar m tn Probably the only guarantee is that the meds have been used for a very long time. Ritalin has been used since at least the early '70's, and Adderall since 1996. Perhaps that is why Susan Ashley in her book ADD & ADHD AnswerBook on page 164 says that, "With the millions of children treated, there are no known permanently damaging effects. To date there have been no known studies suggesting the presence of negative long-term effects".
Avatar n tn loss of kidney function and development of cardiovascular disease.[1] The loss of protein in the urine is regarded as an independent marker for worsening of renal function and cardiovascular disease. Hence, British guidelines append the letter "P" to the stage of chronic kidney disease if there is significant protein loss.[4] Stage 1 Slightly diminished function; kidney damage with normal or relatively high GFR (≥90 mL/min/1.73 m2).
Avatar f tn Have yet to find anyone who has had it successfully or unsuccessfully. Researching more studies but they have not been followed long enough to know real long term outcomes yet. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn t order more chemo based on CA-125 levels alone (which could be influenced by many factors). And there have been new studies released that show that restarting chemo earlier than necessary based on CA-125 levels does not affect outcomes, and may in some cases, cause more harm. It sounds like your doctor is up on the new methods, but get a second opinion just to ease your mind.
922048 tn?1387942584 lowering FSH does nothing to improve outcomes. In many women it does! I just e-mailed 6 studies to my RE. This is the last chance for him to get on board with me doing this with MY eggs or he will be replaced! I am happy to forward either links to the case studies or PDF versions of the studies themselves to anyone who is interested! Information is power, ladies! DO NOT give up and DO NOT accept BS answers from RE's who don't know any better.
Avatar f tn I would do two things, call your gyn and get a refferal to a gyn/oncologist second get a perscription for a MRI of your abdomen and pelvis. I am not suggesting that you have cancer but studies have shown that a gyn/ocologist gives a patient better outcomes with regard to suspicious cyst/masses. A MRI is much more precise and should be read by a radiologist that specializes in oncology. The gyn/oncologist can reccomend one. Good luck.
