Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
Avatar n tn I have heard it said that 200 mg dosages are best taken at bedtime to reduce the drowsiness as well as the potential dizziness. A 300 mg dosage can be taken in two doses. 100 mg a.m. (2 hrs after eating) and 200 at bedtime. And, from my understanding, it's possible that these side effects MAY go away or lessen when your body adjusts to it. Perhaps, asking your doc about lowering the dosages may lessen these side effects.
478554 tn?1208034407 You are correct, Benicar is an expensive drug, I am on 40 mg per day with 12.5 of HCT (Benicar HCT). Since there is no generic, my insurance also tries to block it's use, but they have to give it to you if your doctor provides the additional documentation, but it won't help the price. TGL's are easy to control, usually cutting back on empty carbs like those found in breads, pastas, sugars and processed foods will have a huge impact.
369861 tn?1306275686 my endocrinologist took me off the diovan hct and didnt want me to have any diuretics. However, he wanted me to have a renin and aldersterone test. Which i have not taken yet. Anyway, my body has been retaining fluid and I went to my primary yesterday and he wants me to see a cardiologist for congestive heart failure, low postassium and when can I go back on diuretics. Is CHF really an issue in this case. I'm really concerned.
Avatar f tn We took her to the vet 12-21-10 and had blood work done. The vet also gave her a shot of antibiotics and gave me amoxicilin 25 mg (1 ml twice a day). She still wasn't getting any better and the vet said her white blood cells were elevated so he said she had a bad infection.
Avatar m tn However, last week one of the tests came back positive and he was prescribed Viread 300 mg. The number jump from 1 mg to 300 mg is a bit scary and he would like advice or feedback on this new medication before starting. Has anyone used this before? Anything we should be aware of?
369861 tn?1306275686 I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist prior to this. I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests.
Avatar f tn I am nervous about treatment, although I am also grateful. It seem you guys are worse off than me. I will be on 300 mg of Ribavirin and 400 of Sovaldi. They say 95% success rate of clearing virus. cant do anything about advanced cirrossis. I guess I will stick with the winners on this forum. Am I supposed to be having so many charlie horses and cramping before treatment? I am sorry that i am rambling I will go now thanks for listening.
Avatar m tn Anyway once we discussed the new dosage goal based on the readouts from my tests he decided that it would be ok to go down from 300 mg to 200 mg......but he had me drop to that dosage in just one day. I was vey concerned because i had called my nurse and needed a new prescription.....there was no going down slowly discussion like reducew 25 mg per week or anything. Well, it sent me into afib and so I just had a cardioversion to deal with that. Anyone every drop Troprol that fast?
Avatar n tn my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd. Is there another medication that I can discuss with my cardiologist to replace the cardizem cd that will keep my heart rate in the normal range? I feel I've got to withdraw from the cardizem as the side effects seem to be progressing the longer I use the medication.
Avatar f tn Just dont freak out sometimes they cant hear them completely. Im doing my hct levels also cuz of bleeding.
Avatar f tn Well, saw the liver doc today...I'm officially on "doc watch" because of HGB, HCT, WBC counts trending downwards...Doc is optimistic the drop will slow and level off by week 6 of treatment...And Procrit won't be necessary...Labs to be repeated weekly...No adjustments in Interferon needed as yet...Week #4 vl on Monday!
