Tarceva in pancreatic cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Tarceva in pancreatic cancer

tarceva

Avatar f tn Edema (fluid accumulation in any body part, resulting in swelling) has been reported as an adverse event in 37% of pancreatic cancer patients taking Tarceva, although this side effect has not been reported in lung cancer cases. However, the type of edema associated with Tarceva use is either generalized or involves a swelling of both legs. Swelling in only one leg may not be due to this drug. Unilateral leg swelling may be due to a local infection (cellulitis) in that area.

His doctor is aftraid that Tarceva is not recommended to someone with mets to the bone. That is not what I read. 365470 tn?1232747095 Hi all just want to keep you posted , my husband started on the drug Tarceva since his lung cancer is in operable this is supposed to dry up the blood flow to the tumor so it will shrink, so just praying that it does and all goes well, then he will have chemo, the oncologist said no to radiation.
Avatar m tn since then the diesies showed improvment and shrinkage in tumor. . HE has been under maintance treatment with Tarceva since 2009 upto now. the previous PET-CT ON JULY 2011 WAS NEGATIVE AND CONCLUSION was that no evidence of residual hypermetabolic disease seen in lung.. but the recent CT showed smal new lesion 1,8 *2 cm. in comparison to previous.and his new PET -CT in TURKEY hospital FN shows new FDG(+)SUV max:5) pulmonary nodule in the lower lobe of the lung.
Avatar n tn He had more chemo for precaution. After one year, the cancer came back into his Adrenal Gland. It is also in his Lymph Nodes. They put him on Tarceva( a pill he took everyday) And after 6-7 weeks, he had tests done which showed it didn't do anything.. the tumor has grown. They said there is no other options.. no surgery/ no chemo/ no radiation. Has anyone out there had a similar diagnosis and is there any hope for him. I want a second opinion but do not know even where we could go.?
Avatar n tn It is considered the finest cancer institute in the world and has successes that no other institution has.
Avatar f tn Hello I am a caretaker. My client was diagnose with lung cancer stage IV. It has already spread to the spine, both lungs and the lymph system. But since she was diagnose 3 months ago she has lost aalmost her voice. she is using oxygen for the major part of the day but doctors don't wan't to talk about time. no more medes will be given and she was reffer to hospice....
Avatar m tn Does LDH levels being normal rule it out? I am frightened of this. No pancreatic cancer in family, but both parents and both sets of grandparents died of various cancers. The dang internet is bad for people like me with undiagnosed stuff. My stress levels have been very high lately due to this. Could my symptoms be kidney related? I have noticed a foamy urine lately. I have a urology appt. on Wed. I am trying my hardest to get to the bottom of this.
Avatar m tn Hi there, my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the head of the pancreas in June 2016. He passed away with pancreatic cancer in March 2017. At the time of diagnosis he had jaundice and bile duct obstruction. The bile duct had to be removed through surgery and that was the time when the pancreatic tumour was discovered. By January 2017, there was metastasis of the pancreatic cancer which had spread to the liver and lungs as nodules could be seen in the liver and lungs.
Avatar n tn My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (non small cell) back in July. He has been through several chemo and radiation treatments and is now starting on Tarceva. It has been a long road so far and he has his good days and bad days. I don't think there's any way even the doctors can tell us how much time they have left specifically. His doctor said it could be a year, 5 or even 10, but of course we are all hoping and praying for at least 20 more with him.
Avatar f tn Hi There... I have had a upper right lobectomy on Sept 14 2001.Stage 1A BAC lung cancer...no chemo or no radiation..clear margins and no lymph node involvement.. ..it's been a little over five years now. cancer free. PRAISE GOD...and thou I realize that 5 yrs is maybe the magic number for most lung cancer survivor's...is it also meant for BAC Lung Cancer...I have heard not so.... Thank you for any information you can give me....
Avatar f tn com/cancer/pancreatic-cancer/pancreatic-cancer-symptoms#1 When they speak of light stools they are speaking in terms of jaundice which usually has other symptoms such as yellow skin or eyes. Do you have that as well? If not, I'd not necessarily associate light stools with pancreatic cancer. GERD is likely to cause yellow stools. Could that be a possibility for you?
Avatar m tn What is the best exam to rule out Pancreatic Cancer? I´ve been expericieng some problems in the last month: my stools are different, vague low abdominal pain and vague back pains. I am very anxious. After read about Cancer Pancreatic I can´t put my mind at rest and started feeling minor itches. My doctor asked a ultrasound and some blood tests. After the results he said it is fine for Pancreas. But I have other problems: 2 stones in my gallblader and minor hepatic steatosis.
Avatar f tn I have a friend that is sick with pancreatic cancer I don't know what kind he has. I don't know if it's exocrine or endocrine but what I would like to know is what is the survival rate for individuals with this type of cancer. However age, race, gender all of that play a part.
Avatar m tn But I am very very very anxious and can´t put my mind at rest because my sympthons occurs in Pancreatic Cancer. Suggestions? Try another exams? PS) In january I stayed working one month in another country (Middle East) eating different foods. And my sympthons started there. Thank you for your response. .
Avatar n tn Went to emergency room and had CT of ABD/Pelvis with contrast. Normal. I am terrified I have Pancreatic Cancer. Is this possible I am 53 year old female. Told by 1 MD I have psoriatic arthritis I think I have Fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn with all of these tests wouldnt they have seen if something serious was causing my symptoms? I worry about pancreatic cancer , but if cancer was causing symptoms wouldnt one of these many test have seen it? Is the ct scan reliable for ruleing out pancreatic cancer I feel like I've exhaysted all my options and dont know what else to do.
Avatar f tn What made your friend suggest a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer? Was a mass found in that area? It might be a good idea to stick to one good doctor (preferably an Internal Medicine specialist), instead of switching doctors often, so that a more coherent picture of your father's condition may be arrived at.
Avatar m tn H Pylori thrives in low stomach acid and lowers stomach acid further. Low levels of stomach acid (stomach acid stimulates the pancreas to release enzymes to help with digestion just to add) can also cause malabsorption and floating stools. There are many possible symptoms from not enough stomach acid. My mother takes betaine HCL with pepsin supplements to increase stomach acid and digestive enzyme supplements to help with digestion. I'll send you a few article with more info.
Avatar f tn My sincerest thanks for the reply. In the back of my head I know the odds of pancreatic cancer at my age is slim to none. They actually did a blood test for the H Pylori. She said they were going to refer me to a surgeon because they feel a GI doctor would pass me off to a surgeon. I'm not sure if the surgeon is related to the mild fatty liver they found on the ultra sound. I've been keeping a bland diet since this started last week- lean turkey, crackers, fruit.
5525494 tn?1369235489 I am also having upper and lower back pain. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. I had liver blood test done and all things were normal. My questions are: If it was pancreatic cancer, would there abnormal liver enzymes? If back pain was from pancreatic cancer, would there also be other symptoms like jaundice, weight loss, nausea/vomiting or can back pain alone be cause for concern?
Avatar n tn While it is uncommon to have concomitant cancer, there is a research from the University of Chicago Medicine that shows a strong link between pancreatic cancer and the BRCA2 mutation that plays a role in breast cancer. (ref: http://www.uchospitals.edu/specialties/cancer/pancreatic/genetics.html) . Hope this helps. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn Also had a spot come up on my ankle that looked like blood pooled under skin after umerious trips to the ER thinking I had blood clots they said maybe superficial blood clot. I read that that can go along with pancreatic cancer. had abdominal ultrasound a year ago that was fine. blood work has been fine. any ideas?
