My Dad has been on a feeding tube for almost a year. He had esophagus cancer and they removed it and he is now cancer free. My question is why he is so tired all the time ? and what kind of quality of life he can have? He does not have much interest in the things he used to enjoy.It makes me very sad to hear him like this. He lives in another state, so I do not get to see him.
He has to be awakened to continue feeding and one of the nurses mentioned that she was going to speak with the doctor about a feeding tube. My daughter-in-law is scared. The only experience I have had with feeding tubes is when a patient is in hospice or critically ill. Is this routine with premature babies? Should we be concerned?
I just logged on. No experience there, but malnutrition is such a problem. I hope Hector logs on soon. There are many good people on this site.

I am male 40 years old, this morning I woke up with a incredibly painful pressure pain in my lower back, the pressure and pain only increased as time went by. I started feeling sick to my stomach and sweeting.
Wife had to take me to the E.R.
A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem.
Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin?
Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days?
Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
My son has been seeing a gastronoligist for 4 years, he has a feeding tube to help gain weight, he slowly gains very small amounts, then it seam overnite he can lose 2 lbs, every month we struggle to see at least 1 lb.
Sometimes we think the feeding tube is taking up so much room in his stomach that he is always feeling full, and
he never eats everything on his plate. Is there something else I can do above & beyond to help my son gain weight?
like a steriod or special herb to help him out?
I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?

i know it can be normal, but i want her to eat on her own (without use of her feeding tube) so she can come home, i miss her! how long did it take your babies to get it? i know we have several issues that she is dealing with besides ds, born early and is tiny and tired.

My doctors finally agreed that I need a feeding tube, but the problem is I've been kind of obsessed with them for 4 years now prior to my current issues. I have a lot of GI issues and a lot of sensory issues with food. I prefer blended and pureed food and liquids. However with MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), most of the foods I like to have are high histamines.
My nine year old grandson has started pulling his mic key feeding tube out, he was having 6 x 200mls enrich plus, now he is down to two. He has had 5 open heart operations, at two weeks old he had no oxygen for 9 minutes after a pump malfunctioned after first open heart surgery. eventually she works up to 60ml consistently on her feeding while they still force another 30-35 with the ng tube..the antibiotic course they had run on her for seven days was all well and done..she went consistently taking 60 ml a feeding and did it 6 of 8 feeding..then abruptly @ day 11 she began to vomit 3 feedings up in a row..they then put her under a battery of test for lower gi upper gi AND find nothing except she had poop not impacted in her but plenty to say hmm..
You need to get these puppies to a vet and have the vet show you how to tube feed them. By bottle feeding them you are not getting the required amount into them because the weaker they get from not eating enough, the less they are able to eat and it becomes a vicious cycle that feeds off itself.
In short, with tube feeding, you insert the tube down their throats directly into the stomach.
