Tamsulosin bladder

Common Questions and Answers about Tamsulosin bladder

flomax

Avatar f tn These were perscribed in place of Flomax and Celebrex in the hopes of reducing the inflammation and opening the neck of the bladder to release the urine now being held in my bladder. Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I?
Avatar f tn Hi i experience frequent urination urge and urine retention and tamsulosin quite help me but symptoms still persist.
Avatar m tn I have had a cystoscopy and have a tight bladder neck. My urologist here also thinks i may have overactiver bladder. I have ffelings in my uretha that makes me want to go toilet but sometimes i can hold on for a few hours. Most of the time i have to go toilet 2 times to feel like i have finished. However straight away i get the feeling in the uretha again of needing to urinate. I am currently on Mirabegron and Tamsulosin medication. It has helped slightly but i still get the symptoms of above.
Avatar n tn I've been taking tamsulosin for 3 or 4 years now after my urologist prescribed it for BPH. I've slowly started having leakage issues lately where I will have a strong sudden urge to urinate and have a difficult time holding it until I can get to a toilet. Sometimes some urine leaks out and other times the urge will pass and I can wait before racing to the toilet.
Avatar f tn Hi, There are a number of possible reasons for blood in the urine .The common causes are infections in the bladder or prostate, inflammations of the kidney, stones in the bladder or elsewhere in the urinary tract and tumours of the urinary tract like warts, benign growths and cancers. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin to speed the passage of stones.
Avatar f tn A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem. Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin? Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days? Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
Avatar f tn Hello I am brand new to this forum, I am doing this through my phone so please forgive any typos. I was doing a search on the internet for kidney stone pain and some threads came up from this site, I hope I am posting in the right spot. I am male 40 years old, this morning I woke up with a incredibly painful pressure pain in my lower back, the pressure and pain only increased as time went by. I started feeling sick to my stomach and sweeting. Wife had to take me to the E.R.
Avatar f tn chlamydia was tested and negative...i don't believe bph or trichomoniasis were tested...the tamsulosin was to try and loosen bladder neck to try and alleviate symptoms...
Avatar f tn Thank you so much. I'm new to all of this and I have so many questions. Our family doctor told my husband as long as he could handle urinating a lot he shouldn't take meds like Tamsulosin which he is now on. Obviously, it was very bad information. His bladder is now so tight and will not expand as it should any longer that he also can't hold much urine to begin with. Some doctors should not be in medicine. There is nothing that can be done for him now.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have a UTI or a bladder infection. Flowmax should work within a couple/few hours, although it varies. You need to drink a TON of liquids (caffeine free) and flush your system. The flowmax isn't just going to magically make you pee... you need to give it liquids TO pee. Good luck to you. LMNO *Get your doctor to do a urinalysis and check for infection. Not being able to pee, or only 'drops' coming out is a clear sign of infection, at the very least.
Avatar m tn Obstruction is a possibility also hinted, afaik, by a large urea/creatinine ratio in the urine. I am taking tamsulosin 0.4 mg/d and testing with my doctor 0.8 mg/d to check PVR. I have had regularly and also recently DREs which were all normal. I am 56, otherwise healthy, moderately active, fit and eating a well balanced diet with relatively high protein intake (Zone).
Avatar m tn Does anyone have any advice for relieving the problem? the doctor put me on tamsulosin and that has helped some, but not completely.
Avatar n tn Retrograde ejeculation is the process where the semen is deposited into the bladder instead of out of the penis. This most likely would be due to surgery or damage to the sphyncter near the prostate. It can cause furtility problems but does not cause any other problems. I myself experienced this at the age of 30 while undergoing prostate and bladder surgery. I'm 45 now and still alive. I hope that puts a stop on your worries.
Avatar m tn I am a 55 year old male and been taking Tamsulosin for about 7-10 months. Statistically I have an increase chance to have bladder problems, but nobody in my family had issues. True that my dad died at 57 due to prostate and/or brain cancer (had them both). My PSA is within limits and doctor's exam (you, know the "fun" part) was OK.
Avatar m tn I am scheduled for these two tests prior deciding for TURP (or TUIP or laser as KTP or HoLRP or??(*)). The rationale is that despite high doses (2x0.4 mg) of alpha blockers (tamsulosin) I still have a huge residual (~500-600 mL) and maybe a distended bladder. I might have developed a chronic retention and I am told TURP will help. But is it true? My symptoms are mild and beside the asymptomatic retention I do not feel anything particular.
Avatar m tn My Urologist is recommending TUIP as I have an overly constricted Urethra at the base of the bladder/prostate. I also suspect my bladder may be overstretched slightly due to excessive water consumption (volume of just over 1000ml on last visit to urology dept though I normally release well before this). The problem is that I am unable to completely void my bladder and this results in a chronic urinary infection. I am taking Tamsulosin - this helps but does not fix the problem.
Avatar f tn I tried this for 6 days with no change to the symptoms Again tested Urine - negative for bactria etc 7 weeks from the first symptoms,we tried Lyrica 0.4mg (twice a day) along with Tamsulosin (Alphablocker, once in night) and continue Celebrex 200 mg twice a day. I changed my Urologist, he did an ultrasound and DRE and bladder, kidney and prostate are in good shape with no inflammation or abnormalities.
Avatar n tn However I have had another done last week just to make sure nothing was missed and I’ll get the results in a few days. Aside from that my urologist suggested that I have an ultrasound of my kidneys bladder, testicles and penis. All came back as normal except for my bladder. I was asked to drink two pints of water at least an hour before the test and then they ultrasound your bladder before and after you have urinated to see how well you empty it.
Avatar m tn I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?
Avatar m tn huge PVR and potential complications. No apparent effect on the PVR or large doses of tamsulosin (2x0.4mg) and prostate too small for finasteride/dutasteride. • Surgery went very well. Surgeon very well experimented and cautious (2000+ interventions) • So far one complication: had to be re-catheterized the very same day they removed the 3 ways surgery cath as I could not urinate at all. • 19 days after, I am drinking a lot (2-3l fluids), taking normal dose of tamsulosin in the evening (0.
1580703 tn?1651904887 It's unusual that tamsulosin should relieve your chest pain. While tamsulosin is used primarily as a prostate medication, it can also lower blood pressure in some individuals. This may be a sign that your blood pressure is high (which may lead to chest pain in some), which is then being reduced by the tamsulosin. Enlargement can occur due to a number of reasons.
Avatar n tn One theory involves spasm of the bladder floor, there have been some studies using tamsulosin, the results seem beneficial – but the statistics are not really compelling to make a robust recommendation. Others have used an anticonvulsant drug Topiramate – this likely targets nerve dysfunction. There are some surgical options as well, including removing certain sections of ligaments and ablating nerves that may be dysfunctional.
Avatar n tn t his first stone he typically has a flare-up every year. This time he was put on Tamsulosin and hydromorphone. It's been 48 hrs and although he is urinating (quite heavily) every 15 minutes or so, he has become very bloated and uncomfortable. His belly is distended and hard to the touch and we aren't sure why. He is a diabetic-taking metformin and glipizide orally 2x daily. What would cause his bloating since his urine output is more than normal?
Avatar n tn I generally have to urinate in small amounts,I feel that I am emptying my bladder everytime . My urine flow also is normal, I take little time to start urinating as the amount of urine is not much. there is no urinary leakage , i feel my pelvic floor muscles are strong enough.Urine test didn't show any infection. Also the ultrasound for urinary tract showed everything normal (such as prostate size, amount of post-void urine in bladder etc) .
Avatar m tn It can take as little as 1-2 mins and as long as... well, a long time before the bladder empties itself. There have been times when I sit on the loo with a full and bursting bladder and only a little comes out and although its just a drip, the discomfort is a little less. Soon enough the feeling will come and I'll again go to the loo to urinate. In short, my bladder may empty in one 'sitting' or over 2-3 'sittings'.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I saw my urologist he other day and she said that she now like Rapaflo (slidosin) more than Flomax (tamsulosin) for urinary hesitancy. Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3.
