Tamiflu and h1n1

Common Questions and Answers about Tamiflu and h1n1

tamiflu

167 tn?1374173817 Oh Jen, what a dilema to be in. If it were me I would probably take the tamiflu. Part of the reason I am comfortable with it is that I have a huge amount of trust in my OB. I feel confident in her knowledge and comfortable with following her recommendations. I am more scared of the effects of H1N1 then the vaccine or tamiflu. That's me though and obviously you need to do what you feel is right.

Avatar n tn I have had flu like symptoms for 10-12 days including a lower grade fever for 10 days (99-101 degrees). I called the doctor 10 days ago and they said it was likely h1n1 and not to come in, because they are not testing or treating with any anti virals at this point. They said just to go to the ER if had difficulty breathing.
Avatar n tn My 18 year old son as H1N1...caught it at college and was sent home immediately. He was given Tamiful within the first 48 hours and he is recovering very well. I do believe had it not been for the Tamiflu he would be feeling much worse for a longer period of time. I'm a believer!
982641 tn?1252025412 I recently read an article that said that overuse of antiviral medications like Tamiflu and Relenza could potentially ease the way for drug resistant strains of H1N1. The CDC and WHO are recommending that patients with mild to moderate symptoms should not take antiviral medication. Just a thought.
363110 tn?1340920419 Sounds to me like you have it. My sister and her 4 daughters all had confirmed H1N1 cases and they had the same exact symptoms. One addl thing my sister said was that she hurt so badly with body aches that she could not even type on the computer. All of them are fully recovered. It did last approx 2 weeks. I am 26 weeks preggers and saw her 2 days before she got ill. I was surprised that I did not get it. But very grateful.. LOL My doc gave all of his OB patients tamiflu rx's just in case.
1029233 tn?1263966032 and early care if u begin to feel sick go to the dr. I am not sure about Tamiflu and pregnancy and if it affects the fetus or not.
358304 tn?1409709492 My wife is 2 months pregnant so I called the nurses hotline and the nurse said it sounds like h1n1 and she needed to come in. Instead of taking her to the ER I had my dr paged. He said to just watch her and keep her fever down. She has gotten better since then, that was 5 days ago, but she still feels kinda cruddy. Now my daughter and I have it. My daughter is 2 years old. We've just been staying home... And resting. My little girl doesn't seem to have it that bad...
736590 tn?1280291565 LOL)- its so important for everyone to be reminded over and over that the flu - seasonal or H1N1 - is nothing to mess around with. Its good to hear your relapse was only temporary. Try to rest as much as you can while you fully recover....
Avatar n tn Personal experience within my family, has shown the H1N1 to be extremely aggressive and withing 12-36hrs of first symptoms two of my children were on full asthma meds including inhaled steroids and antibiotics for secondary infection & Tamiflu. This, with 103 temps and every symptom listed by the CDC. They tested rapid test + for A type which most likely was H1N1 in lack of community outbreak and too early for seasonal flu.
478429 tn?1265244387 t get the virus by getting the vaccine. So, with all this being said and with the H1N1 virus running rampant now, I will be getting this vaccine. I know it hasn't been studied that long, but my theory is that Tamiflu and such isn't recommended for p/g woman b/c of the unknown effects on the fetus. So, to me, it's a no win situation on that front. So, I'm going to try to protect my unborn baby and myself so that both of our children can have a mother to share their lives with.
Avatar f tn to all HI there iam from Edmundston NB i no up hear they where telling people to take the H1N1 vaccin so i got my kids needle and found out 2 months after the that the H1N1 flu was not even ture the labs got mix up and there is no H1N1 flu its just the ful going around
Avatar f tn Call your doctor, I had the H1N1 at 21 weeks it was horrible ughh. But you can take the tamiflu they prescribe so if u do have the flu its best to get meds now.
Avatar f tn There is no treatment for H1N1 except Tamiflu which only shortens the duration of the illness by 1 day, so why even bother. H1N1 can lead to upper resperatory problems, and this is when you need to seek help. The media has blown this way out of proportion, many more people die from the seasonal flu.
Avatar f tn I was a little nervous about getting the shot being that I am pregnant and all but I was just watching the news and this lady had the swine flu last year and she was 27 wks pregnant and she actually lost the baby but she was ok. The docs had to put her in an induced coma for like 5 wks. They did take the baby out but the baby didn't make it. After hearing this I am even more afraid of getting the flu.
721523 tn?1331581802 The district in which Nancy works and lives borders ours to the north, and is at least as rural. She tells me they have yet to see an issue with H1N1, fortunately.
151928 tn?1275707337 As far as the above post I can only say that the regular flu vaccine is new each and every year. The H1N1 flu is no different except that it will be against different antigens than the regular flu vaccine. The regular flu is made against different antigens every year as well specified to how they think it will change. Things in the lab have changed a lot since 1974.
168348 tn?1379357075 However, because some women are concerned about exposure to preservatives during pregnancy, manufacturers will produce preservative-free seasonal and 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccines in single dose syringes for pregnant women and small children. CDC recommends that pregnant women may receive influenza vaccine with or without thimerosal. Q. How many doses of the 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine will pregnant women need to get? A. The U.S.
Avatar f tn Hi......i read an article about H1N1 virus..it says: to protect yourself from the virus"swine flu" it will be good for you to drink a cup of water with full tea spoon of Sodium bicarbonate daily, which will make your blood more alkaline. and the alkalinity is not favourable enviroment for the virus ...and the virus will day the Q is: is this true? can Sodium bicarbonate harm my body?
Avatar f tn About a year ago, I had a flu-like illness (fever, chills, body aches) and I went to an Urgent Care Center and was given TamiFLU, although I was not swabbed for the flu. The next week I woke up to get ready for work, but when I stood up I fell straight to the ground from severe dizziness. My vision seemed blurry and double, I had a low grade fever (100.3F), nausea, and a debilitating headache erupted.
Avatar f tn When it was 356 the doctor said it was because I had gotten a spider bite that was infected. That is now gone. I did have an inflamation of my right hip and was taking Tamiflu because I was exposed to the H1N1.
866560 tn?1265061561 Each one of us got a script for Tamiflu in case we come into contact or show symptoms ourselves of H1N1. Still undecided about that shot but the doc is really pushing me to get it. Ugh...
