167426 tn?1254086235 Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.
4355200 tn?1354593144 Serious bacterial infections may begin with influenza-like symptoms or may co-exist with or occur as complications during the course of influenza. TAMIFLU has not been shown to prevent such complications. Treatment efficacy in subjects with chronic cardiac and/or respiratory disease has not been established. No difference in the incidence of complications was observed between the treatment and placebo groups in this population.
Avatar n tn I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and just found out I have the flu. My OB put me on Tamiflu but my primary said she wasn't sure about it. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? I'm worried it's going to hurt the baby. Also it did get the flu vaccine, I was only a couple weeks pregnant so I didn't know but I'm a little mad they push a vaccine that obviously doesn't work.
Avatar m tn Despite an attempt to keep from catching the flu this year by getting my first ever flu vaccine, I did indeed end up catching it twice. Both times came with bothersome symptom flare ups that went on for days to weeks afterward. I *know* when I'm coming down with it right away, as it always hits me in the same place first every time. I can feel the fluid building up at the base of my throat and upper chest.
Avatar f tn at 10 I was running a high fever and felt horrible.. I was trying to give the meds time to work before I went to hospital, finally dozed off at 11 and woke up an hour later, no fever and felt a hundred percent better! 7714453 tn?1394714282 I'll have to go to the ER to just a prescription for Tamiflu then :( I feel so awful. My body hurts so bad.
6576704 tn?1383187473 I took tamiflu during last pregnancy. Safer to take to make u feel better than the risk of u staying so ill. With all meds there are risks but in this case it's better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Stay hydrated and take the meds.
Avatar n tn told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
Avatar m tn s no need to go back to the doctors so early just stick to their prescription and wait 2-3 weeks if Tamiflu doesn't work just throw it away and go back to the Docs and tell them. anxiety is collateral to all unexplained illness. if you have a bacterial infection in the throat or bronchi chew some sliced garlic. also throat antiseptic can help.
Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
Avatar f tn t harm the baby as long as you are drinking plenty of fluids and keeping good down. But you need to be seen so you can Get a prescription for Tamiflu. My ER dr told me the flu shot was ineffective this year so it doesn't matter if you got one or not.
Avatar f tn Did your OB prescribe tamiflu? I'm sorry for you! My husband has it and I have a headache, nausea and my temp got up 2 degree higher earlier has been back to normal since but don't feel like I have the flu. I started tamiflu a few hours ago and all this makes me very nervous. I haven't even taken tylenol bc I hate putting meds in my body.
Avatar n tn Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold.
6708370 tn?1471490210 IMHO - go to urgi care now, get rapid flu swab, get anti viral ( tamiflu) if positive.... I'm so not into meds but I got this Tx wk 4 & couldn't take anything & still ( in week 10) filled nasty in chest!!! Do not collect $200- go straight away & get checked , only 48 hour window to treat....
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
167 tn?1374173817 The first thing to do is check your symptoms, to see if it really is swine flu (H1N1). The symptoms are similar to those of ordinary flu: • sometimes but not always fever • tiredness • cough • headache • muscles and joint pain. H1N1 flu can also cause: • acute abdominal pain • diarrhea • vomiting • sore throat • runny nose A fever caused by H1N1 flu can be very high: if you have regular flu your fever is unlikely to go above 39 degrees C (102.2 degrees F).
8960138 tn?1407673893 Yes, thanksgiving week, my son had the flu. I was so sick and was sure I caught it too, but I could only take tylenol and Tamiflu. Drink lots of liquids. Other than that, you're literally going to have to sweat it out. Hope you feel well soon.
Avatar f tn I'm sure your doctor knows that the benefits of taking the medication far outweighs the risk of NOT taking it. Get some rest, stay hydrated, take your meds and vitamins, etc... hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar n tn I had the flu a couple weeks ago and they prescribed me tamiflu but you need to see a doctor first. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t realize how sick I had gotten and it turned into pneumonia. I was hospitalized for 9 days with it.
789911 tn?1368636783 I forgot to ask the doc.
Avatar f tn rember bird flu? SARS? werent those supposed to be pandemics to? were they? no...so quit thinking about a flu that is not even rampid in our country...and hopefully our epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists figurer out a way to keep people from freaking out...just dont go around sick people or pigs/birds!
Avatar f tn i wouldnt take nor recommend anything harmful. I caught a nasty flu bug that was going around my job.got extremely sick, vomiting, dehydration, fever, chills and aches. Couldn't keep liquids down and had to get IV FLUIDS at hospital. I was prescribed TAMIFLU and it helped me. My husband researched n talked w doctors before i took it. Being so sick was more dangerous for me than taking the meds. I have other high risk factors. From my understanding its a safe option.
Avatar m tn it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go. Tamiflu is very expensive and from what I have heard time, rest, and fluids unfortuantely.
Avatar f tn She and her family were begging the hospital people to give her the TamiFlu but the hospital people refused to give her any TamiFlu because of her three negative Rapid-Flu tests, saying that the U.S. govt. required a positive Rapid-Flu test in order for TamiFlu to be given. So, over a period of days, the poor woman's health declined until she finally died - and all because of an overreliance on tests and a complete non-use of common sense among medical people (sound familiar?).
