Common Questions and Answers about Taking rozerem with melatonin

rozerem

Avatar f tn t advise you on dosing and encourage you to speak to the doctor you work with. Rozerem works by stimulating melatonin receptors in the body. It is non addictive and the only medication that is shown to be safe to use for six months of insomnia where as all of the other ones are generally expected to be used short term. Do you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep after falling asleep or both? The hope is if you are treating your anxiety disorder, that your insomnia will get better.
Avatar m tn There have been concerns about the safety of melatonin from what I know so Rozerem being an FDA approved medication in that in works in the same manner but is a known quantity is a better option. I was precribed Rozerem a while back to use as needed and I do so responsibly but it hasn't been in a long time. It can if directed by a psychiatrist be used every day to work to adjust the sleep cycle and has been helpful for some people I know in that regard.
603015 tn?1329862973 Sonata and Ambien are for short term use only. Lunesta can be used safely everyday. Rozerem works in the same manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order.
Avatar f tn Isn't Rozerem very closely related to melatonin? I've tried melatonin and valerian for insomnia. Neither with much success. Surely there are other alternatives besides trazadone and rozerem. I would like to know what they are.
Avatar m tn I am actually being tapered from Risperidone and Xanax by my Psychiatrist and am having sleep problems but I shall take Melatonin or Rozerem instead after consulting my Psychiatrist as I dont want go through another withdrawal syndrome.
Avatar n tn I have tried taking melatonin time release. I have took 2 5mg at night with no help. I want something safe that I will only be taking for 5-7 days at night so I can sleep with the withdrawals. I have learned that Lunesta is not a good option due to the side effects. Thanks Susan.
Avatar f tn I have sleep anxiety and only sleep 4 to 5 hours a night. I feel exhausted most of the time and I am able to fall asleep with melatonin but only helps for about 4 hours. I've tried Ambien, Clonazepam and everything over the counter. Clonazepam seemed to work but it's a controlled drug so I would like to get off it. Has anyone tried Rozerem? It's not a controlled drug. Thoughts or experience on Rozerem would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Is anyone familiar with this I just got a prescription because of an inability to sleep and she said it is not habit forming?
Avatar f tn One medication you might want to ask your psychiatrist about is Rozerem which is an FDA approved sleep aide that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive.
1310435 tn?1273598077 Hi, katiefaye. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? I have sleep apnea as well as insomnia. I've taken Melatonin (an over the counter item), Rozerem (works well, and is a prescription item), and now I'm taking Tofranil(orescription) to help with my chronic headaches AND insomnia. There is also a brand of antihistamine that helps with sleep, too. Your best bet, again, is to speak with your doctor. Good luck.
1021912 tn?1251693068 When it nears bed time, my heart begins to beat excessively, and I have a permanent anxious/nervous feeling. I try to sleep and my mind thinks about everything and will not calm. My doctor suggested Melatonin and I've been taking it for some time, however now it has lost it's effect. I recently, during the course of the summer, have begun taking my mom's sleeping pills, which are called clonazepam 0.5 mg. I take half and it usually does that trick.
574118 tn?1305135284 Melatonin is a naturally occuring substance in the body that tells the body it is time for sleep. Because it is already a substance in the body it won't interact with med (although I would still ask the psychiatrist and pharmacist before taking it). It won't knock you out, but will help make you drowsy and I find I sleep heavier. 3-6 mg is the standard dose. And it is cheap and available at most drug stores here in Canada. I don't know about Egypt. 5HTP and St.
741315 tn?1232458427 Ambien is not meant for everyday use as a sleeping aide as it can be addictive. Lunesta or Rozerem are two better choices. Rozerem works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. Those are some ideas to speak to your psychiatrist about.
1116728 tn?1276797124 hi all my doctor gave me valium for my sleep deprevation but im worried about taking them, i have read that people can become addicted to them and its put me off.
1088646 tn?1256949923 I'm taking Ambien but still don't feel rested....I've lived with this for 55 years I guess I can go the rest of the way. Any natural suggestions??
Avatar f tn Hello! Melatonin does not help me. Zaleplon helps to sleep, but it can not be taken for a long time, since it causes dependence. Diagnosis: chronic insomnia with anxiety disorder. I take escitalopram in the morning. Can Rozerem replace Zaleplon?
985832 tn?1249126599 If you have disrupted sleep you might want to undergo a sleep test.
Avatar f tn Many thanks for reading my post We took our 8 year old daughter, who has a twin sister also, we took one of our twins to a neuro/physiologist and he did lots of test's on our daughter and found she has ADD.I don't know how this hasn't been picked up before, anyway, she was then sent to a consultant pediatrician that deals in ADD ADHD and he also diagnosed her with ADD, both Dr's have told us she will catch up in time, our twins weren't premature, The Dr gave her concerta.
Avatar n tn 30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem. She used to be able to fall into sleep quickly when took 25/100, but cannot for increased dosage). The strangest is motion: In morning, right after get up but BEFORE sinemet, her walking is steady, no difficult stepping out, speed is slow but ok, no sign of dyskinesia (or not noticeable) Around 1.
Avatar m tn If its taken as a sleep aid and they find it too sedating Rozerem is one option that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive and from what I am aware of and remember of it will wear off by the next day but each person responds differently to each medication.
Avatar f tn Lunesta and Rozerem are known sleep aides that are safe and effective and can be taken every day especially Rozerem which is derived from Melatonin and helps regulate the sleep cycle. As for anti-psychotic use they are finding that Zofran is effective for psychosis from Parkinsons' and it will not worsen Parkinsons's or create tardive dyskinesia but is actually helpful on it in studies.
Avatar m tn The natural remedy that is specifically helpful as a sleep aide is melatonin but Rozerem was derived from it and as an FDA approved medication is a safer option. Other natural remedies more have a calming effect. There is a specific forum for complementary medicine where people might have more information. Any ideas should be discussed with your psychiatrist and generally if a medication is working unless your psychiatrist says otherwise its worth remaining on it.
1673169 tn?1316541930 Yes for me it took some time to work although each person responds differently to each medication or treatment but it might be worthwhile to ask your psychiatrist about Rozerem which is an FDA approved medication that works exactly like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive. Also it has an exact dose and quantity unlike any natural remedy so if they considered it a possibility could find out what dose would work right for you.
Avatar n tn I have taken about 40 doses of 10 mg over 140 days and notice a problem with short term memory. Does this get better? How can I improve it. I am done with the stuff and think it is better to drink yourself to sleep instead if you are really desparate.
736314 tn?1276884623 I am taking lunesta and guess what. I am wide awake. It usually works for me but not tonight i guess.
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried taking rozerem to help sleep when tapering? I tried Abien a few years ago and it wired me all night. Last night, I took ,1 clonidine and 2 soma and I just knew that would put me to sleep and all it did was give me a big buzz and i was wired for a few hours. I know I just need some sleep!
994257 tn?1266242692 I know since I had trouble falling asleep in addition to sleep disruption I was prescribed the sleep aide Rozerem which is non addictive and actually adjusts the sleep cycle like melatonin but I don't know if it would be prescribed for sleep disruption but you could ask your psychiatrist.
460764 tn?1286237457 It is like a sleeping vitamin because your body already naturally produces melatonin, so you are just taking an excess of it. It is not a sleeping aid so no worries about chemical inbalance or addictions.Try taking 3-6mg an hour before the time you want to go to sleep. It should make you drowsy and sleepy. If that is not working, it is best to do a sleep study. That will take care of seeing if you have sleep disorders, sleep apnea, etc. which will make a difference.
Avatar f tn You could try asking about Rozerem which is an FDA approved medication that works in a similar way to melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is non addictive. Some people find it helpful although each person responds differently to each medication.
Avatar n tn Well then I would go by what it says on the bottle. Natural remedies are unregulated but Melatonin is generally a safe thing to take with reliable brand and quantities but I don't know if it is for children. I usually suggest to people that they ask their doctor about the medication Rozerem which is a sleep aide that is safe and effective and works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle but I don't know if that's meant for children either.
