Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

I also have been taking Pristiq. Been about 5 months now at 100Mgs a day. I'm not so keen on this Pristiq. Like Morningside, I just never really got any measurable anti-depressant effect from it. My Pdoc added Lithium and Lamictal to the Pristiq and that is helping a little, but I'm still not sold on this Pristiq. In the past I did better on Effexor and other AD's like Lexapro.

I take Pristiq,Ablify and Wellbution. Is there one pill to help with all three of my problems?

75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .50mg and I shouldnt feel the terrible withdrawl symtoms that comes with effexor, so day one I take my pristiq and valium, by the middle of the day, it felt as if I misssed taking my Effexor dose, my brain started zapping terrible, stomach aches etc.

Has anyone else noticed that if they take other meds when taking pristiq it doesnt work. I really need my calcium but am afraid to take it because I get depressed again when I do.

(I never tried a lot of them). Pristiq is a newer upgraded version of it. So I am also taking 50 mg of Pristiq because it restored my sex drive after taking Effexor for many years. It has helped me tremendously with severe depression from my severe disabilities and pain following a major stroke. In my book, it is a miracle drug. But 400 mg is an extremely high dose. The normal dose is 50 mg, but you could possibly increase it to 100 mg IF it hasn't helped you at all after a month.

But did you wean off of it as you introduced the Pristiq? If not you may be having with withdrawal from the Prozac combined with the side effects of starting a new medication. Or it may just be that Pristiq is not for you. Talk to your doctor about these side effects, they're pretty scary and you need to know what to do at this point where medication is concerned. What works for one may not for another. I wish you all the best with this.

My doctor (who I think is brilliant and I feel very comfortable with) told me he has placed many of his other patients on Pristiq with good results. As I mentioned previously, it is supposed to have very few side effects, if any; but of course every body is different. If you do not trust your doctor, maybe you could get a second opinion.

s true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.

I have several friends who did not see any improvement on other medications and went on Pristiq with excellent results. I hope this helps and wish you all the best!

Explain -- are you self-medicating with someone else's meds? Because if this was prescribed, I assume you'd be able to ask your doctor or psychiatrist. Both meds can be very stimulating, take a few weeks to take effect, but can have side effects immediately. Pristiq can be very hard to stop taking if taken for awhile. Don't self-medicate. If it's an emergency, go to the ER. If it's not, it will pass. If you're not having fun, do something fun.

just gone on 6 weeks with pristiq feeling shaky inside,tired has anyone else feel shaky inside on this med is this a side effect after all this time or could it be its not working heard it can take up to 8 weeks has anyone taken it this long to work?

I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

I have been taking Pristiq for about two weeks. I have energy, I left my house the other morning, and I actually laugh and kid like a real person. In the morning I still can cry so I'm not stoned or anything from it. Some people say they can't sleep. I take Advil pm. or no brand sleep aids. (cheap). So I don't know about that. Right now there is no generic. But I think its worth a try. I've tried so many different ones. So far for me that is the best.

m now OFF of any Fibro meds and the only thing I take is blood pressure RX and Pristiq. My New Year Goal is to get off all MEDS - I think I would feel so much better if I could focus on improving my health naturally!

Can pristiq cause a normal blood pressure to go up extremely high?I was taking Savella 50mgs twice daily and blood pressure went to 180/100.Stopped it and went on Pristiq 50mgs once daily.Went to Dr. and blood pressure was 179/93.Are these meds casuing this?I have always had normal blood pressure.I am obese and have family history of high blood pressure.I have taken cymbalta and quite a few years ago took effexor xr and didn't have any probelms with blood pressure.

I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.

What other meds should he consider trying? Can he just start back up on the Zoloft? Any advice is appreciated. I'm dying here.

My only complaint with Pristiq is that at 100Mgs a day dosage I have sexual side effects from it. I am male and it has reduced my sex drive by about 50% which I hate. The side effects of stopping Pristiq are much the same as with Effexor. They can be rough as I once ran out for two days and had withdrawls.

If you're doing well on Effexor, I don't see any reason to switch. I've never been on Pristiq, but side effects when taking PRISTIQ 50 mg may include nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite. In clinical studies of the recommended 50-mg dose, the percentage of people who stopped taking PRISTIQ due to side effects was similar to placebo (sugar pill).

I found taking Pristiq with a big glass of water in the morning before eating worked the best. Although almost 3 months in im going to the doctors to find out options of what i can change to. My biggest self esteem issue is my weight & in the 3 months ive been on Pristiq i have watched what i ate & even started working out 5-6 days a week & ive climbed another 6kgs. I dont need it! Otherwise Pristiq worked beautifully (as long as you dont forget to take it).

Now for the past 3 wks or so ive had horrible hot flashes and for about 2 wks i have really bad nightmares, also bn feeling on edge again i have mood swings outta no where, breast tenderness as well hmm wonder if that has anything to do with it but just throwing it out there.

Sometimes when that happens docs go out of the usual lines of the road and try anything. One problem is you will be taking meds that affect the same neurotransmitters, and that can cause an overload. both Pristiq and Elavil affect serotonin, and while Pristiq does so more profoundly than Elavil you could still theoretically run into the problem of serotonin syndrome.

almost like brain freeze Pristiq is with all the rest of the SSRIs, SNRIs, etc.. My Theroy..along with allot of others is that these meds do not make things better.
